LA earned an exhibition victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday.The highlight, of course, was first-round quarterback Ty Simpsons debut. PFF was kind to him in their grading, and there is more to come on that. After each game at Turf Show Times we post an immediate reaction to who performed well and who didnt. We call it winners & losers. Within the next 24 hours we post the PFF grades, of which serves as an objective form of the same topic.Who earned top marks on Saturday? Lets dive in.Top five grades on offense:1 Austin Blaske, LG: 80.9Blaske earned his best grade in run blocking at 80.3. He also fared well in pass protection with a mark of 76.9. Blaske played all 54 offensive snaps at left guard. Not a bad day at the office for the rookie UDFA out of North Carolina. Hes someone to keep on eye on over the remaining two games.2 Brennan Presley, WR: 79.6Last seasons preseason star, Brennan Presley, is doing it again. He led LA in receiving yards with 58 on four receptions. 39 of his yards came after the catch point, and he averaged 9.8 yards after the catch. Presley is a small receiver and does not really fit into the Rams prototype. One sign of this was his poor run blocking grade of 58.8. Hes someone that needs a look at punt returner, and someone receiver-needy teams should keep an eye on.3 Ty Simpson, QB: 78.1Simpson took 25 of LAs 31 total dropbacks. He played an immaculately clean game with an adjusted completion rate of 91.3%. There were a lot of short throws; however, Simpson got better as the game went on and the aggression and true drop backs (no play action) grew more frequent late.Simpson finished with 21 completions on 25 passes (84.0%) for 190 yards and two touchdowns. Of all the 2026 rookie quarterbacks, Simpson currently ranks third in PFF grading behind Carson Beck (Cardinals) and Drew Allar (Steelers). Hes second behind Joe Fagnano (Ravens) in yards and tied for the lead in touchdowns. 4 Beaux Limmer, RG: 74.4Its not surprising to see Limmer crack the top five. He played 34 snaps at right guard and performed very well in pass blocking with a mark of 84.4. His run grade was weaker at 68.7. 5 Mark Redman, TE: 73.9Redman played 19 snaps. Five came in the run game and he earned a blocking grade of 58.7. Not great.His best production came as a receiver where he caught all three of his targets for 47 yards. Redman earned 13 yards after the catch point and was one of the more vertical targets on the day with an ADOT of 11.3 yards.Other notes on offenseOf the 22 players to make an appearance on offense, Stetson Bennett finished in last place in the PFF grading. Bennett had an anemic average depth of target (ADOT) of 3.2 yards versus Simpson at 5.3. The veteran was credited with two missed throws on six attempts. He was only pressured once. Is the preseason quarterback battle already over after a single game?Top five grades on defense:1 Zech McPhearson, CB: 80.7The Rams recently signed McPhearson, who spent the last few years with the Eagles. He almost earned a pick that was later ruled incomplete. Most of his snaps came later in the game in relief of Alzillion Hamilton. McPhearson did not allow a single completion and recorded a pass breakup. 2 Cam Lampkin, CB: 68.2The overall grading was not great on defense. 68.2 would not usually crack the top five during the regular season. Lampkin did not have a good game. He allowed catches on all three of his targets for 30 yards and a passer rating of 108.3.3 Alex Cook, FS: 64.5Cook made four tackles and was sure-handed. He did not miss an attempt and earned a tackling grade of 78.2.4 Ty Hamilton, DT: 64.4Ty Hamilton played just 19 snaps. He came on late last season and played important snaps during the playoffs. He continues to struggle as a run defender (57.3) but can contribute as a pass rusher. He recorded one pressure.5 Alzillion Hamilton, CB: 63.9Hamilton missed a tackle on four attempts. His best contributions came in coverage where he allowed three receptions on five targets for 27 yards (16 after the catch) and a long of 17. He recorded a pass breakup and allowed a passer rating of 74.6. Hamilton came off the field with roughly 20 defensive snaps to go, so we could assume hes ahead of McPhearson and Lampkin on the depth chart. Other notes on defenseWhile rookie Tim Keenan finished with five tackles and a sack, he finished towards the back of the pack on defense and ranked 19th of the 22 players. He earned a run defense mark of 39.3 and a tackling grade of 28.8. He missed a tackle on six opportunities.
