Chargers free agency: LA re-signs LB Denzel Perryman
The Chargers re-signed linebacker Denzel Perryman to a one-year deal Thursday. The 33-year-old is entering his 13th NFL season and will don the powder blue for the ninth season. Perryman has made two stints with the Chargers, beginning his professional career as a member of the San Diego Chargers and later returning to the organization in 2024. Perryman joined the Raiders for the 2021-2022 seasons, remaining in the AFC West. The linebacker then signed with the Texans for a season before coming back home to LA.Perryman posted 30 solo tackles, five tackles for loss and three quarterback hits last season. The veteran will play a key role during defensive coordinator Chris O'Leary's first year in the position, as a respected locker-room presence and due to his familiarity with the defensive scheme orchestrated by Jesse Minter. The linebacker missed the final two games of the NFL season because of a suspension. The Chargers were in the middle of a tight AFC West race, so Perryman was certainly missed. As the Chargers prepare to make a deep playoff run in 2026, veterans such as Perryman, Khalil Mack, and Derwin James will be crucial in keeping the team focused down the stretch. This article originally appeared on Chargers Wire: Chargers re-sign LB Denzel Perryman to one-year deal
