The most decorated American cross-country skier in history will close her career this winter — from the opener in Ruka to the final finish in Lake Placid.
“I hope I’m remembered… for the joy, sense of fun on snow, heart-on-sleeve racing, deep vulnerability and openness,” Diggins said today.
Tributes poured in from across the ski world — Mikaela Shiffrin praised her “contagious joy,” Lindsey Vonn called her “an inspiration far beyond sport,” and teammates described her as the heartbeat of the U.S. program.
