  • German vice champion

I am proud that I won my first German championships in the new club jersey with a 2. Was able to finish a place in the women's class.

I had an extremely fun time at the first track meet of the year and I'm looking forward to all that's yet to come.

  • Katie McBEATH / Daniil PARKMAN 3./160.26

Katie: Well, it was a pretty big disappointment for us, but, you know, in a season, there’s a lot of ups and downs and a lot of learning experiences. I definitely can say for myself that there’s some fatigue, so I just have got to go get some rest and reset the mind. Because my body’s good.

For me, personally, my portion of the short program was very good yesterday and Daniil and I, we know we can do a good long, we can do a good competition. We’ve had a lot of improvement this year, so it’s just resetting the mind, getting some rest, and then moving forward.

(on coming to Warsaw Cup) Anytime we can come and represent our country, that’s amazing. At the end of the day, this is just ice skating. It’s just one program and by the time we do another program, everyone’s going to forget about this program. There’s always another performance. We all love figure skating and we love to show it off and we love to watch it. We also like to get to experience new places, new cities. It’s absolutely amazing.

So at the end of the day, I’m having an awesome life experience that I’m going to take with me forever.

  • Laurence Fournier Beaudry / Guillaume Cizeron 124.29 / 204.18

    Guillaume:
“This is our first competition outside of France. We feel very lucky to be sharing those moments together. We are very pleased with our performances this weekend. We have been working a lot on both programs, we had so much fun today sharing that with the public.”

    On when their partnership “clicked”:
    Laurence:
“I think from the very moment we started together, we had right away so much respect for each other, and we love what we do together. So it was just an enjoyment from the very beginning.”

    On the next steps:
Laurence: “We just qualified for the Final with the placement of today, so we are excited to go there and have the mission to win the Final. And then we will get to go to French Nationals, get some rest with the family at Christmas, and then we will go to Europeans, and hopefully win Europeans.”

    On receiving French citizenship:

Laurence: “It was really amazing. I just learned a week and a half ago that I finally got my citizenship. It’s a blessing because it’s an honor for me to be able to represent France at the Olympics.”

    Guillaume (laughing):
“She’s becoming more and more French as we speak.”

  • Minerva Fabienne Hase / Nikita VOLODIN 136.48 / 206.88

    Minerva:

“Winning here means a lot. It is a big relief. And I think we skated choreographically and emotionally better than at the last competition. Yesterday’s performance was not our strongest. There we started strongly and then got a bit shaky. Today was much better. We were more focused.

The mistake on the Salchow was a bit unfortunate, but the rest was very good. And it was very fun to skate here.

For the final, we want to show even more emotions in both programs.”

    Nikita:

“We were very nervous and made more mistakes at our last competition. I did one mistake today. It is a problem with my blade. I will try to fix that during the next week.

I am very pleased with the rest. Technically, everything is okay. And I think it was a good performance.

In this final, we want to skate with even more confidence.”

  • Deanna STELLATO-DUDEK / Maxime DESCHAMPS 1./75.46 SB

(on their short program) We had fun doing it. The crowd was amazing. And we came here with some new objectives and I feel we achieved them. Every time we go out, we try to be a little bit better than the latest skate. And that’s what we did today again, so we’re pleased with that.

Deanna: When we got here, I wasn’t feeling well, I was feeling a little sick, maybe just the jet lag. But they told us yesterday that it was going to be a full house for our competition. So I was like, oh my gosh, I need to feel better fast, because I want to do well for everybody who comes to watch us.

Unfortunately, there was a large, four teams withdrawal over the weekend, which is unexpected. Originally, we came here for the points, obviously, for the world ranking. But we had to change our focus a little bit to really just only focus on being here and what we want to achieve here. And that’s what we did today. We’re trying to get another competition in before the final. Just to, you know, work out any kinks and try some new things and make sure that we can be the best we can be.

  • Elena Kostyleva after the free program at the Junior Grand Prix stage in Russia in Omsk:

"I go step by step, element by element, sometimes I even forget what I did at the beginning of the program. I didn’t think at all about the elements that didn’t work out.

Is it harder to repeat what you’ve already done? I don’t know about that, I didn’t think about it. Last season I even did more than that many times. It’s probably a shortcoming in training. How is your physical condition? Basically, everything is fine. I won’t blame any problems for my mistakes. It’s my fault.

Is it a psychological factor? I wouldn’t say it’s psychology. I relaxed a bit, started thinking about what I did during the warm-up, but in the program, I went as if I was still in the warm-up; in the program, you need to be more focused. Is winning gold and silver medals at the stages a good result? No. It’s good, but not for me. I could have done much more. I myself said that it’s all in my head, the coach said it’s experience to take these mistakes into account in the future so that they don’t happen again at bigger competitions.".

  • Evgeniia LOPAREVA / Geoffrey BRISSAUD 1./202.06 SB

We are so happy, we always come here because we really like this competition. It’s kind of “our” competition. Or when we decide which Challenger we do, we say we want to go to Warsaw. Until the end of our career, hopefully we will be, like, 10 times champions of Warsaw Cup. So you will continue to see us for a long time here.

(on coming to Poland straight from Skate America) That was intense. But we’re not thinking about it because we probably go to the Olympics now, it’s kind of sure, and we have a team event and right away a competition, like back to back. So we want to practice this and it’s good. It’s kind of late here, but in some time, we’ll need to push ourselves in every moment.

  • Caroline GREEN / Michael PARSONS 3./189.27 SB

Michael: l think 95% of that program was very good. And, again, it was a mistake that we wish we didn’t make, but it is what it is. So I think looking back, we’re really proud of the training that we put into these programs. We’re really proud of the rhythm dance that we did here. And we know our jobs, which is to go back home and train as hard as we can and get ready for Nationals, which is our next event.

(on recovering from injury) The last couple of weeks have been an interesting mix of recovery and training. But we’re feeling really good physically now. It’s just about getting even stronger and keeping our health where we want it to be, leading up to Nationals.

Caroline: I think that with all the travel and the back-to-back competition, it definitely takes a toll physically, and I think that was definitely what we were feeling here, but I was really proud of our ability to deliver the rhythm dance that we did and to push through despite the mistake. I think it’s really easy to have that happen and then let the whole program snowball. So I’m really proud of how we just stayed together.
We came back in and just focused for the rest of the program.

Michael: And I guess the silver lining is we know that we’re so much better than how we’ve skated and we’ve skated really well.
So I think looking at it that way, we’re really excited for Nationals, to put 2 very strong skates together and show people what we’ve been working on all year.
