He recorded an 11-foot, 7-inch broad jump, along with a 1.46-second 10-yard split and a 6.95-second three-cone drill. Both of those times would have ranked among the best at the NFL Combine. He also ran a 4.41 in the 40-yard dash, showing the kind of speed thats always made him an intriguing prospect.Coming out of high school, Lukus was one of the top prospects in the country. He was rated a five-star recruit and the top player in South Carolina, backed by strong production at Mauldin High School where he totaled 97 tackles, 17 pass breakups, and four interceptions across three seasons.His time at Clemson was more uneven. While his athletic ability was never in question, consistency proved harder to come by. He showed flashes early, including an interception in the 2022 ACC Championship Game against North Carolina, and worked his way into a starting role by the beginning of the 2024 season.But after some early struggles that year, Lukus eventually lost his starting job. The two-time first-team All-MAC player became the Broncos' seventh pick to complete their draft class, but he's actually a relatively accomplished player for someone who is "Mr. Irrelevant." He holds the NCAA record for career forced fumbles with 17. Murdock had 142 total tackles, five sacks and six forced fumbles at Buffalo last season. In 2024, he recorded a career-high 156 total tackles and seven forced fumbles, which were the most ever by an individual in a single season. The NFL Draft's "Mr. Irrelevant," a nickname tied to the final pick of the draft, has been around for 50 years. The title celebrates the player as an underdog and even comes with its own tradition: "Irrelevant Week," a weeklong celebration honoring the newest "Mr. Irrelevant" and the history behind the title. The underdog story reached new heights when San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, 2022 "Mr. Irrelevant," guided San Francisco to the NFC Championship Game as a rookie.
