Vicki Fergon waited a dozen years between her second and third career victories in 1984 and 1996.Shin moved to the U.S. with her family from South Korea at age 9 and became the youngest player to win the U.S. Girls' Junior in 2006 at age 13. Shin turned professional in 2010 and won her first LPGA title in 2016 at the Volunteers of America Texas Shootout. Unfortunately for Garcia, after a strong opening round he was drawn into a firefight and Lopes scored a dramatic knockout to end the fight.It definitely wasnt the result that Garcia wanted but looking back at the fight now, he can immediately identify the mistakes made that led to the knockout.I was very surprised when I went out there, Garcia told MMA Fighting. He told me he wasnt going to take a backstep and all this stuff. Its pre-fight interview stuff but I thought he would have met me in the middle and he didnt. He seemed a little gun shy. He wasnt very aggressive. I was expecting these things from him and [then he didnt do it].When Lopes came gunning for him in the second round, Garica admits that he effectively threw caution to the wind, bit down on his mouthpiece and just started trading bombs and he paid for it.We got into this brawl and my Albuquerque showed, Garcia said with a laugh. I was like were just doing this. He hit me with a shot, it wasnt clean but it definitely threw me off balance. Almost like a [clubbing blow] with the forearm and I was trying to get situation again and we just ended up in a scrap. I feel like I should have been more technically sound defensively in that moment and I could have clinched, I could have done a few different things. Looking back afterwards, I feel like I didnt hit him with the best things Ive got.When I got dropped, in my head Im like Im good, Im good, Im good. I did that for like two or three seconds. Theres a few things I probably should have done and I didnt do it. I think this is just me talking out loud, Im not far off. I was winning that fight until I wasnt. I ll take my L like a man. Ill see it for what it is but the No. 2 guy in the world, who I expected to be so much crazier than me and it was going to be the fight of my life, it wasnt.Garcia says the whole White House experience was surreal but it was also much different than any other fight week hes had in the UFC.Because he was competing as the opening bout on the seven-fight card, Garcia and Lopes both had to deal with delays after weather forced the UFC to push back the start time. That didnt really affect anybody else but it definitely played a part in Garcia and Lopes getting ready to make the walk to the cage that night.When it came to the actual warm up situation, me and Diego were the first fight so I think we were kind of the guinea pigs for the rest of the card, Garcia said. So that kind of sucked. We were supposed to be starting right on time, thats what they told us. I had warmed up and everything as needed. I felt amazing. Then right in the middle of my warmup, theyre like were going to cut it. Weve got to do a 30 minute delay. I was like dammit. I was already riding that high. Ill try not to get too high or not to get too low but I was just sitting on the mat for about a half-hour.All right, were going to start getting ready to go again. So me and [Mike Winkeljohn] started hitting pads and within a minute theyre like were getting ready to walk. I havent even broke a sweat again! Its kind of crazy. It is what it is. Im not going to complain about it because Diego had to deal with the same thing I did. That means playing and hitting hard from the snap of the ball until the officials blow the whistle, making their presence known.Offensively, striking hard starts with the offensive line being physical in both the run game and in pass protection, with the physicality rippling through the rest of their playmakers when running routes/blocking in the passing game, or on the ground when running the ball.No mercy Aim to dominate and in the conflict quickly, show no hesitation or compassionThe no mercy part of Cobra Kais part of motto applies both individually and to the team as a whole from the players to the coaching staff.The no mercy mindset is how the Cowboys should play this year. That means everyone being relentless in the pursuit of complete domination against any opposition throughout the ballgame on a play-by-play basis. Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers will be sidelined for an extended period of time with a knee injury that will likely require surgery. Langeliers is planning to undergo surgery for a torn meniscus, a person with knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports. The person requested anonymity since the decision has not yet been finalized.However, it's possible the 2026 All-Star could return in September if the recovery process goes well, the person said. Langeliers' injury is just the latest to hit the A's, who have played for stretches without first baseman Nick Kurtz and shortstop Jacob Wilson, and have lost slugger Brent Rooker for the season with a knee injury.Backup catcher Jonah Heim will likely take over the everyday job behind the plate. An All-Star and Gold Glove winner in 2023, Heim has played regularly over the past month at catcher, first base and DH.Langeliers has been one of the best-hitting catchers in the majors this season, posting a slash line of /263/.332/.497 with 23 home runs and 51 RBIs.He caught all nine innings on Friday in Minnesota, going 1-for-4 with a double at the plate. Lando Norris' win in Hungary is his first grand prix victory since Sao Paulo in November last year [Getty Images]Lando Norris took his and McLaren's first victory of the year in a compelling Hungarian Grand Prix.As the world champion cruised to a comfortable victory, there was a tense fight for the remaining podium positions in the closing laps between Red Bull's Max Verstappen and Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli.Verstappen just managed to hold on while Antonelli took third to extend his championship lead to 50 points over Lewis Hamilton and 59 over his Mercedes team-mate George Russell, who finished seventh after a bad start.Ferrari's Hamilton finished the grand prix on Antonelli's tail in fourth place but was penalised five seconds for speeding in the pit lane and dropped to fifth behind his team-mate Charles Leclerc.Norris' team-mate Oscar Piastri led for most of the first half of the race but retired from second place with a gearbox failure.The key stories of the race were:Norris' victory, helped by a controversial strategy that did not please his team-mate PiastriA surprise second for Verstappen after a strategy gamble paid off for Red BullYet another penalty harming Hamilton's prospects on a disappointing race for Ferrari given their paceA positive weekend for Aston Martin with their new car, despite not scoring pointsNorris and McLaren revive 2025 memoriesNorris' concern before the start would have been about the losing a place to Leclerc, who was starting second behind the Briton.The McLaren driver made a good start, the challenge from Leclerc never materialised, but instead Norris lost the lead to Piastri.Norris was leading through Turn Two, but a strong start put the Australian second, and when Norris made an error and ran wide through Turn Two, Piastri seized his opportunity to take the lead.That left McLaren with a quandary for although their cars were running one-two, the slower one was in the lead, and they were concerned about threats from behind.Piastri led through the first pit stops, with Norris never much more than a second behind, but Norris started to challenge hard in the second stint and wanted to be given the opportunity to challenge his team-mate.Norris asked to make his second stop first but was refused.Instead, Piastri was called in, McLaren saying they were covering the threat from Hamilton, who had just stopped himself, and Norris was allowed to run for six further laps before making his pit call for fresh tyres.Norris returned to the track just in front of Piastri, who had been delayed by a collision with Williams driver Carlos Sainz while lapping the Spaniard, who was penalised five seconds for the incident.Piastri was clearly unhappy, telling his engineer not to talk to him shortly after Norris returned to the track.But Norris' pace afterwards justified the decision and he pulled away into a comfortable lead.Piastri had just been promoted back to second place by Antonelli's second pit stop when he lost use of his gearbox on lap 56 and pulled off after Turn Three.That led to a late virtual safety car (VSC) which enlivened the battles behind Norris, but he was untouchable as he and McLaren, who came to Hungary with an upgraded car, revived memories of some of their dominant victories of their championship last year.Verstappen second despite grumbles about carFerrari's Lewis Hamilton spent most of the first half of the race stuck behind the Red Bull of Max Verstappen [PA Media]Verstappen was unhappy with his car for much of the race, but Red Bull pulled a masterstroke when they fitted soft tyres to his car at his second pit stop.The aim was to challenge Hamilton in the later laps after the seven-time champion made an early second stop with 40 laps still to go.It was heading towards a tense climax when Piastri's retirement brought out the VSC.That prompted a late round of pit stops, Ferrari bringing in both their drivers and putting them behind Verstappen.Hamilton came out of the pits and passed Antonelli into the first corner, after the Italian stayed out under the VSC, but had to give the place back after the restart because the Mercedes driver had just passed the key line on the track in front.Antonelli and Hamilton started chasing back towards Verstappen, but they were delayed while lapping Audi's Gabriel Bortoleto.That looked as if it might be decisive, but in the end Verstappen was comfortably able to keep Antonelli at bay, crossing the line 3.6 seconds ahead.Another key point in Verstappen's race had been his re-passing of Hamilton after the Ferrari had got briefly ahead following the first pit stops.That gave him clear air and enabled the Dutchman to consolidate his race position in third place behind the McLarens, laying the foundations for Red Bull's late strategy call.Hamilton will leave Hungary ruing another penalty - He finished that season with 21 touchdown passes and just four picks, then followed coach Lincoln Riley to USC and won the Heisman. His 2022 season was an all-time great campaign, in which Williams racked up 4,537 passing yards, 382 rushing yards and an FBS-high 42 passing touchdowns. He returned in 2023 for a struggling USC team but still posted the best QB rating of his career while accounting for 41 touchdowns before being drafted first by the Chicago Bears.Williams started his college career at Oklahoma, before transferring to USC alongside head coach Lincoln Riley following the 2021 season. In his first year with the Trojans, Williams took the college football world by storm, recording 4,537 passing yards and 42 touchdowns, to go along with ten more scores on the ground.
