Mandatory Credit: Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn ImagesSince the arrival of superstars such as Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese in the 2024 WNBA Draft, the league has exploded in popularity, as evidenced by record numbers and game attendance. However, an unfortunate byproduct of the leagues rapid growth has been people who arent actually fans of womens basketball getting involved and spewing hate at the leagues players, especially on social media.Earlier in the season, Aces star Chelsea Gray received hateful messages from a fan, which led to an investigation and his being fired from his job.I think as one of the main faces of our league, too, it creates a dialogue that needs to be had. It puts pressure on Cathy, who weve been begging to step up for us in these spaces, Sky veteran Natasha Cloud said, via Front Office Sports. Now I think it demands her to actually take some initiative and to do something about it. I dont know what it is that shes going to do, but I also think that simple statements of not condoning (expletive) is also really good for public relations as well.Theres more work to do.Over the 2026 WNBA All-Star Weekend, league commissioner Cathy Engelbert announced that the league is cracking down and doing whats necessary to protect its players. The racism, the misogyny, the homophobia, the harassment, and threats directed to our players have no place in sport or anywhere else, Engelbert said, via ESPNs Kendra Andrews.Commissioner Cathy Engelbert says that too many players in the WNBA have experienced unacceptable online hate. The racism, the misogyny, the homophobia, the harassment, and threats directed to our players, has no place in sport or anywhere else. Kendra Andrews (@kendra__andrews) July 25, 2026Theres more work to do, and we need to make sure were doing it.Earlier this month, the league had a meeting with its players aimed at underscoring the importance of addressing issues early through proactive communication and strengthening the league-union relationship. The league committed to continuing to enhance security resources and will work with the players union to explore collaborations with organizations that share the values of our league and advance our shared priorities.Yesterdays discussion marked the beginning of an ongoing dialogue, and we are united in our commitment to building on this work together. The WNBA knows whats going on, and it wont be tolerating it any longer. The post WNBA issues warning to fans spewing racism, misogyny, and homophobia appeared first on The Comeback: Todays Top Sports Stories & Reactions.

Clemson baseball commit climbs into the Top 35 recruits in the 2027 class
Clemsonbaseballs 2027 recruiting class continues to gain national attention, and one of the Tigers top commitments has earned another major boost in the latest rankings.Perfect Game recently updated its national rankings for the 2027 class, placing Clemson catcher commit Caden Borcherding at No. 32 overall. The Etowah, Georgia native is also rated as the No. 2 catcher in the country, further solidifying his status as one of the premier prospects in his class.Borcherding announced his commitment to Clemson last September, giving head coach Erik Bakich and his staff an early recruiting win over several high-profile programs. Before making his decision, he held offers from Alabama, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina, making him one of the more sought-after players in the 2027 cycle. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound catcher had planned to take official visits to each of those schools. Alabama hosted him first before he traveled to Clemson for his next visit. That trip to Tigertown proved to be all he needed. Shortly after visiting campus, Borcherding announced his commitment to the Tigers and canceled the remainder of his scheduled official visits.Former Clemson star Cam Cannarella is making his case for the MLB Ken Ruinard, Ken Ruinard/USA Today Network via Imagn Images https://t.co/R8G0ZRVHThpic.twitter.com/OmRptyUZHz Clemson Wire (@Clemson_Wire) July 27, 2026His rise into the top 35 nationally is another encouraging sign for Clemsons future recruiting class. Landing one of the nations highest-rated catchers early in the cycle gives Bakich a cornerstone prospect to build around, and Borcherdings latest ranking only reinforces why so many major programs were pursuing him before he ultimately chose the Tigers. https://t.co/LFqr4aD5Lhpic.twitter.com/sqclYjdSLT Perfect Game USA (@PerfectGameUSA) July 24, 2026Contact us@Clemson_Wireon X, and like our page onFacebookfor ongoing coverage ofClemson Tigersnews and notes, plus opinionsThis article originally appeared on Clemson Wire: Clemson baseball commit climbs into the Top 35 recruits in the 2027 class

Jerry Jeudy denies claim he called for Deshaun Watson to start over Shedeur Sanders
To say the Cleveland Browns quarterback situation has been volatile in recent years would be a major understatement. Nine different players have lined up under center for the franchise over the past three seasons. This offseason, it appears theres a battle developing between Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson for the No. 1 spot.Sanders, himself a go-to topic for sports media, showed strong promise during his audition last year and Watson is looking to prove that he can perform at the level he displayed when fully healthy. There will be surely be many twists and turns in this competition before meaningful football is played, but some drama flared up over the weekend on the back of a TikTok Live from wide receiver Jerry Jeudy.MORE: Shedeur Sanders popularity highlighted by crushing NFLPA royalties recordThe video purportedly showed Jeudy providing an answer to a viewers question about who he would like to see as Clevelands starter by flashing the number 4 (the jersey Watson wears) with his hands.Jeudy responded to shoot down this idea.I dont speak on decisions that arent mine to make, he wrote. I support my teammates/brothers, I do my job, and control what I can control. Lets stop creating [narratives] that arent there for likes and clicks. I bet this wont go viral because its too positive/real for yall. The clip in question does seem to have a strange skip in it. Then theres also the idea that Jeudy would probably have at least a little pause in going out and announcing his preference at quarterback because such a thing would create all types of waves.Every day theres a reminder of how strange things in this new world of unlimited content and increasing difficulty understanding whats real and whats fake. It has to be immensely frustrating to have things that you didnt even do go viral. So while the Browns quarterback plan may remain a bit of a roller coaster, at least in this instance it appears there was much hullabaloo about nothing. Fantasy Football Roundtable: Here's one thing our analysts wish they knew before the 2026 season begins
None of us have a crystal ball. We can't predict the future (we don't have ESPN or something). Because of that, we need to make educated guesses to hopefully hit gold in fantasy football. But since we're here, hypothetically, what would we want to know before the 2026 NFL season gets going to aid us in fantasy drafts? Our analysts share one thing they wish they knew before the start of the campaign. Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2026 NFL seasonWill Jayden Reed, Josh Downs get more work in 2-WR sets? There's no question Reed and Downs are capable of producing more than what we've seen through their first three seasons. Though injuries have played a factor, the real element holding them back has been their limited deployment in two-receiver sets. However, there's reason to believe a change could be coming for both players. The Packers let Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks go, while the Colts no longer have Michael Pittman Jr. hogging targets. Reed still has to battle sophomore Matthew Golden for that increased playing time, but we've seen the veteran flash an intriguing fantasy ceiling in the past. He finished as the WR23 as a rookie with 10 total TDs and was the WR14 in fppg through the first nine outings of 2024 before his numbers dropped off. Meanwhile, Downs was a fantasy WR4 in the first half of last season with a healthy Daniel Jones. That's exactly where he's being drafted this year - not baking in the opportunity that may materialize with Pittman gone. If their roles expand, Reed and Downs will be massive fantasy values at their current ADPs, so hopefully we get a better indication of what their usage will be prior to Week 1. Justin BooneWhat is the Patriots' RB split?TreVeyon Henderson was too boom-bust to trust when the Patriots were competing for a Super Bowl last season. He only had 7.7 expected half-PPR points (RB50) in games with Rhamondre Stevenson, and that trend continued in the four postseason games when the rookie was held to 5.1 expected points per game. Meanwhile, Stevenson was the RB21 per game as the lead back across the season and especially in the playoffs. NextGenStats had the big fella as the RB1 overall in rush yards over expected, so they were riding the hot hand with the better back. To everyone's surprise, Stevenson even had more receptions than Henderson, who really struggled in pass protection after being great at it in college (some due to size). It's likely that Henderson closes the gap with more experience, especially in the schemed-up pass game, but he's also more expensive than Stevenson in fantasy drafts. Who is the one to draft? Because the Patriots are going to score a lot of points and we don't know the split. Hayden WinksWill the Cardinals stay extremely pass-happy?Last season, Trey McBride had over 50 more routes than any WR in the NFL, Jacoby Brissett was a fantasy QB1 in every game, and Arizona led the league in dropbacks. Something so extreme doesn't often repeat, although everything seems to be in place for the same style of season. The Cardinals enter the year favored in zero games with a very difficult schedule for a bottom-level team. The coaching change would be one of the main factors that the extreme volume wouldn't return, however, new head coach Mike LaFleur led one of the few offenses this decade that could match it. In Mike White's six complete starts under LaFleur, the career-long backup averaged 44 passing attempts per game, crossing 300 passing yards in half of them. Arizona was a cheat code in 2025, and logically being drafted as if that cheat code won't repeat, but there is also a logical shot it will. Joel SmythIs injury luck finally on the Chargers' side?In 2025, the Chargers most frequent offensive line combination played together just 16.5% of the team's snaps dead last in the league. Omarion Hampton missed eight games. Justin Herbert played with a fractured hand. The list goes on, and we all know this extends beyond just last season. The summer gives this team time to reset, and with Mike McDaniel calling plays, the Chargers could be THE fantasy goldmine. You only need to jump back a few seasons to see McDaniel-led offenses finish second and 11th in points scored with a weak-armed, immobile quarterback. Now he has a superhuman running the show. Hampton in Round 2, Ladd McConkey in Round 4, Herbert in Round 6 and especially Quentin Johnston in Round 11 all extremely reasonable prices and potential steals if injury luck is finally on the Chargers side. Give this team a healthy environment, and magic might happen. Josh NorrisHow many games Mike Evans plays in 2026?I hate to be reductive on the Mike Evans analysis but I only see this 2026 season playing out one of two ways. Either Evans tweaks his hamstring once, twice or more and plays fewer than eight games, or he stays healthy and scores 10-plus touchdowns, essentially locking in a WR1 finish. I'm sure there is actually a middle-ground outcome for Evans, one that involves 14-plus games of solid production where he's still good but another year into decline to the point he's a good X-receiver, just not a needle-mover. I don't buy it. Evans didn't look like a materially different player from his dynamic form from the 2024 season on film. He also happens to have two insurance policies that help stave off receiver-aging: technical mastery as a route runner and near-unmatched freakshow traits. His route tree also perfectly matches what the 49ers want out of their X-receiver. Even a diminished version of Evans will be a press-man coverage weapon who can win along the goal-line and in short yardage. I just wish I knew how many games he plays this season before locking in his ranking. Matt HarmonWill George Kittle and Tucker Kraft be healthy?Kittle has probably punched his Hall of Fame ticket already, posting six different top-four fantasy seasons at tight end (in addition to his dynamite blocking). Tucker Kraft looked like Kittle 2.0 for about two months last year, wrecking defenses down the seam and standing as the TE2 after nine weeks. The ceilings speak for themselves. This years runout? Nobody can say. Krafts 2025 breakout was ruined by a torn ACL in Week 9, and Kittle ruptured his Achilles in the playoffs. If these guys are healthy, they can be league-winners, needle-moving stars who are reasonably priced in summer ADP. But its also possible neither will be playing in Week 1 (Kittle the bigger wild card), and its open to question when either player will be performing close to his theoretical peak. I step into draft season afraid to draft these guys and also afraid I might be missing out on a potential bargain.
