Tom Brady hints at joining the WWE
It looks like future Hall of Fame NFL quarterback Tom Brady may be joining the WWE after all. The speculation began when Brady slapped Logan Paul at a recent event, which led many to believe that the slap was leading up to an upcoming match between the two.Although nothing is official, Brady has said in a recent interview with WWE wrestler Cody Rhodes on his "What Do You Want to Talk About? podcast, where he said he'd love to be a part of the WWE.He's just waiting for an invite from WWE president Nick Khan."I need to get an invite,"Brady said. "Ive been waiting for Nick Khan to come up with a storyline for me to get in the mix. I feel like I'm retired from football, have an opportunity to get out there and still showcase that I'm a little of an athlete.""Come on Nick," Brady said. "Come on, make it happen." Within 24 hours of Brady saying that, he slapped Paul in public and they have "feuding" ever since.Brady says if he were to join the WWE, he'd naturally want to play a villain because he's used to playing that role."It's such an easy choice; I'm a bad guy, " he said. "I've always been a bad guy. I feel like when our teams did really well, I would always go into these stadiums, and I would feel that obviously at home it was great. But when you go on the road, and you've had some success in the NFL, they like you. It's an incredible feeling when you work that entire day to basically try to send the crowd home early."Brady may be ready to play that part soon. This article originally appeared on Touchdown Wire: Tom Brady hints at joining the WWE

The Lynxs Influence Was All Over the WNBA All-Star Weekend
The Minnesota Lynx had a strong showing at the 2026 WNBA All-Star weekend in Chicago.Three current Lynx Olivia Miles, Courtney Williams and Natasha Howard played in Saturdays game. Former Minnesota players Natisha Hiedeman, Bridget Carlton and Jessica Shepard also made their presence felt. In a tight game, Team Spoon defeated Team Coop 129-122.Three Current Lynx Shined in the All-Star GameThe Lynx selected Miles No. 2 overall in the 2026 Draft. She was a third-round pick to Team Spoon during the July 15 All-Star draft. This season, Miles is averaging 19.3 points, 5.9 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game. She is likely on her way to an All-WNBA team and the Rookie of the Year award.Miles joined Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard, Caitlin Clark and teammate Courtney Williams as Team Spoons guards. She played 24 minutes, the most of any player on the team.Miles was not only one of the best players for Team Spoon, but one of the best in the entire game. As a starter, she scored 11 points on perfect shooting from the field, and finished two assists shy of a triple-double. She would have continued the streak of All-Star Game triple-doubles, as Skylar Diggins recorded that stat line in last years game.Minnesota Miles popped off in Chicago Olivia Miles logged 11 PTS, 12 REB & 8 AST to become the third rookie in WNBA History to record a double-double in an All-Star game! She joined Angel Reese (2024) and Kiki Iriafen (2025).#WNBAAllStar2026 | @ATTpic.twitter.com/crmIoTgyUm WNBA (@WNBA) July 27, 2026Miles has earned her spot in the limelight this season. Williams, meanwhile, has been as good as ever in her third year with the team. Playing alongside Miles has allowed Williams to return to her natural shooting guard role. In 28 games, she is averaging 15.3 PPG, 4.2 APG and 5.4 RPG.Her time in Minnesota has potentially been the most successful of her career. She and Napheesa Collier have become a formidable duo, operating the midrange especially well.Courtney Williams is the mid-range magician #WNBAAllStar2026 | @ATTpic.twitter.com/M8SbHw6igS WNBA (@WNBA) July 26, 2026In the game, Williams played 17 minutes and scored 12 points with seven assists, earning an A- performance grade according to ESPN.Natasha Howard was the third Lynx selected. She is having arguably her most productive season since winning Defensive Player of the Year in 2019. This is Howards second stint with Minnesota, as she played for the Lynx in 2016 and 2017 before leaving for an elevated role with the Storm.Howard played 23 minutes, scoring eight points with four rebounds. Of the three Lynx, Howard struggled the most, shooting 3-of-10 from the field and 2-of-7 from three. Howards weak performance is not cause for concern, but the return of Collier after missing the first 27 games of the season due to ankle surgery is sure to impact her season stats as the back-half approaches.Former Lynx Made Their Presence Felt All WeekendThere are also some former Lynx who either played in Saturdays game or partook in the weekends other events, including Natisha Hiedeman, Jessica Shepard, and Bridget Carlton. All players left the Lynx last season either by way of free agency or expansion draft, and have gone on to excel in their new roles.Hiedeman, who participated in the State Farm three-point contest, has started all 29 games for Seattle this season, and has been a top player on a disappointing team. She is averaging 15.6 PPG and 4.6 APG on 45% from the field and 34% from three. Hiedemans performance in the contest left something to be desired, as she recorded 17 points and was eliminated in the first round.THE STUDBUDZ HAVE ARRIVED Courtney Williams and Natisha Hiedeman pulled up styling to the Orange Carpet pic.twitter.com/zbuR2SrY6Q Yahoo Sports (@YahooSports) July 24, 2026However, former Lynx Carlton performed much better in the contest, making it to the final round with the Wings Azzi Fudd. While she ended up losing the contest to the rookie, her strong performance is another feather in the cap of her breakout season.Portland selected Carlton No. 1 in the expansion draft. She has since doubled her PPG total from her final season in Minnesota. In 26 games started, Carlton is averaging 13.7 PPG and 3.8 RPG on 40% from the field and 37% from three. The only other former Lynx to play in the All-Star Game, Shepard scored a quiet seven points, and tacked on five rebounds and assists in her 18 minutes of play.Dallas signed Shepard in free agency this past season. She has broken out into a star, averaging 14.9 PPG nearly seven more than her final year in Minnesota. She, alongside Team Coop captain Paige Bueckers, are the main catalysts behind the Wings quick turnaround. The ONLY player this season to have MULTIPLE TRIPLE DOUBLES: Jessica Shepard @albertapp | #WingsUppic.twitter.com/LEync1uD52 Dallas Wings (@DallasWings) July 23, 2026Minnesotas Player Development Was on Full DisplayMinnesotas player development was the weekends defining theme. Current and former Lynx alike showcased the franchises ability to develop talent. With Miles as the focal point, and former Lynx Shepard and Carlton turning into all-stars, Minnesota had a firm grasp on this entire weekend. With Collier and Williams still in their prime as well, that likely wont change in the future. The post The Lynxs Influence Was All Over the WNBA All-Star Weekend appeared first on The Lead.

5 Teams that could trade for Bucs' Vita Vea after request
On Monday, July 27, Bucs defensive lineman Vita Vea requested a trade from the franchise that drafted him, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Vea is heading into the final year of a four-year, $71 million extension that he signed in January of 2022. The request comes on the heels of other notable defensive lineman extensions over the last year from the likes of Devonte Wyatt of the Green Bay Packers and Quinnen Williams of the Dallas Cowboys. Both their extension had them hovering around $20 million a year, while Vea is averaging just under $18 million.Shortly after the trade request was made public, we already had an idea as to where he may want to end up. Ted Nguyen of The Athletic reported that Vea would prefer a trade to a team in California or the Las Vegas Raiders. The Bucs defender is from Milpitas, California, so the move out west makes sense from that perspective. However, players can make requests, but teams will not always respect them. Thus, we are diving into five teams that make sense to trade for the veteran defensive lineman. Los Angeles RamsI mean, this makes sense even without the California angle, right? The Rams are going to have to do salary cap gymnastics the likes of which we have never seen before, but that is a 2027 problem, as they are all in on winning a Super Bowl in 2026. They made the trades for Myles Garrett and Trent McDuffie already, but we have seen general manager Les Snead have no problem abandoning his draft picks over the years. You want one final win-now move for a team that has the guts to do it? It all makes too much sense. Buffalo BillsThe Bills' defensive line currently has second-year Kentucky Wildcat Deone Walker manning their nose tackle spot. The team could make an aggressive move and put him in their unit as he would be an upgrade to their unit. The Bills, however, are also facing some unique salary cap issues. They have drafted well enough, they have extended players, and would have to rework some deals to make it work beyond 2026. But for a team that is also in a Super Bowl window, they could also kick the can down the road and focus on this season by making a trade for Vea. Minnesota VikingsThe Vikings traded away their main piece in the middle of their defense in Harrison Phillips last year. They have really enjoyed the breakout of Jalen Redmond and Levi Drake Rodriguez, but the idea of adding Vea to the middle of that line may be hard to pass up. New general manager Nolan Teasley was a part of an aggressive front office in Seattle, and he has seen that it can pay off. For a Vikings team that is in a small window to win, the move for Vea may be seen as unnecessary, but pairing him with Brian Flores' unit could be diabolical.New York GiantsThe Giants traded away Dexter Lawrence ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft, so they have a hole in the middle of their defense. While it may not seem like the most logical approach, the return the Giants got for Lawrence compared to the package they would need to send for Vea would still make it all work. New head coach John Harbaugh leans on the play of his defensive line, so adding Vea would be on par with that approach. Las Vegas RaidersFormer Bucs assistant general manager John Spytek is now in charge of the Raiders' front office, so there is a Tampa Bay connection. There is also a need for the Raiders, as well as them being on his shortlist for preferred destinations. They could plug Vea in the middle, where they had Christian Wilkins before his falling out with the team. This article originally appeared on Bucs Wire: 5 Teams that could trade for Bucs' Vita Vea after request

Sophie Cunninghams anti-trans comments lead to rally before Fever game
Jul 9, 2026; Phoenix, Arizona, USA; Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham (8) against the Phoenix Mercury at Mortgage Matchup Center. Mandatory Credit: Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn ImagesIndiana Fever reserve guard Sophie Cunningham, who is averaging 9.3 points per game this season, ignited debate online last week when she touched on her desire to protect womens sports in a feature from ESPN.I got a lot of negative feedback about me hating trans. And Im like, I never once said that,' Cunningham said. I think that I am here to extend love. But I also think with that love is truth, being honest. And I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldnt have to go against biological men.Cunningham then doubled down on her initial stance that trans girls shouldnt compete with other girls when asked about it by local media.I said what I said. I think its kind of common sense, she said. And I think Ill always believe in that. I think its really important to protect children, and thats little girls who are also involved in that category. I stand on what I said. Now, the ramifications of Cunninghams comments are being felt. Ahead of the Fevers Tuesday night game in Seattle against the Storm, a rally is being planned by the local community. The rallys announcement reads:Women Are Real, Known Heretic, and Brandi Kruse are organizing a celebratory pre-game fan rally with local female athletes outside Climate Pledge Arena on Tuesday, July 28, before the Indiana Fever take on the Seattle Storm. The rally will show public support for Fever guard Sophie Cunningham, who has faced a wave of criticism since a July 22 ESPN profile in which she expressed support for female-only sports and locker rooms. Cunningham describes her position as one of honesty and care, saying her concern is for young girls who should not have to compete against males. With love is truth, she said, and we agree. Its shocking for such a strong stance to be made by the Seattle community, considering how few trans athletes there are ot begin with, something her Show Me Something podcast co-host West Wilson touched on in a TikTok video.Okay, transgender athletes in American sports is such a borderline nonexistent issue that right-wingers have convinced a massive portion of people in our country that it that these people are like a threat to sports in America when mathematically thats not the case at all.And by continuing to platform this, f*cking politicians, athletes, journalists, news outlets, youre only isolating transgender people even more by making them seem like this giant group of people is a threat to society, a threat to sports, when thats just not proportionately the truth in any capacity. There is like 10 transgender athletes in all of the NCAA, and so I think there are unique questions that can be handled on an individual basis, but to allow this to take our attention away from like housing and healthcare and wars and all the other actual harmful sh*t in our country is dumb. When factoring in how vulnerable trans children are to hate online, its worth asking if everyone asking for their inclusion shouldnt focus on the more pressing issues threatening our country, and on coming together rather than looking to the things that divide us.The post Sophie Cunninghams anti-trans comments lead to rally before Fever game appeared first on The Comeback: Todays Top Sports Stories & Reactions.

More details are starting to emerge about the San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan, and it was a lot worse than we thought, according to Pro Football Talk's Chris Simms.Simms said that Shananhan almost lost an eye.It was scary, Simms said on Pro Football Talk. All of a sudden, I get a text from Kyle's wife Mandy she texts myself and my wife and it's like oh no, Kyle's been a part of some horrible accident.' She sent us some pictures right off the bat, and it was like oh my gosh. 'He was this close to maybe losing his right eye. The scar is so big right here. He's not only worried about his injuries but also about the other person involved."I don't think he'd have any problem with me sharing this," he said, It hit him hard, he was emotional about it because he realized how close it was to being a complete and utter diaster. It could have been a lot worse."Simms also admitted he knew about Shanahan's accident but chose to keep quiet. This article originally appeared on Touchdown Wire: Chris Simms gives more gruesome details of Kyle Shanahan's accident

Why did Vita Vea request a trade from the Buccaneers? Tampa DT wants out with one year remaining on contract
Why did Vita Vea request a trade from the Buccaneers? Tampa DT wants out with one year remaining on contract originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.A Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive staple could soon be moving on.Defensive tackle Vita Vea has requested a trade from the franchise, per Adam Schefter, asking out from the team that drafted him eight years ago.Vea, 31, has consistently been one of the NFL's most productive defensive linemen in Tampa Bay. He's set to hit free agency after the 2026 season and per Jeremy Fowler, "extension talks have gone nowhere" between the defensive tackle and his team.Per Spotrac, Vea's 2026 cap hit of $22.19 million ranks eighth among all NFL interior defensive lineman. The 31-year-old, coming off a fully healthy 2025 season with 34 tackles and 4.5 sacks, is seeking to lock in a longer-term contract, but hasn't been able to do so with the Buccaneers, leading to his request.Vea is still expected to be at Tampa Bay's training camp, per Fowler, but his participation is up in the air. Per Ted Nguyen, Vea prefers to be traded to "a California team or the Raiders."MORE:Offseason grades for every NFL teamWill the Buccaneers trade Vita Vea?While Vea did request a trade, that doesn't necessarily mean the Buccaneers will grant that request. Many NFL stars have gone through high-profile contract holdouts and trade requests in the past while seeking a new deal. In instances where that player requests a trade, it's often more of a leverage play than a true indication they want out, but it remains to be seen whether Tampa Bay is comfortable moving on from Vea.If the Buccaneers don't plan to give Vea an extension, which is possible considering they'll also have to extend quarterback Baker Mayfield at some point, trading him now, when injury risk is low and he's valuable before a contract season, could make sense. If not, they may still be able to come to an agreement with their two-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion.Vita Vea career statsVea has been with the Buccaneers for his entire NFL career so far, a 2018 first-round pick who instantly became one of the most physically imposing players in the league.Listed at 347 pounds, Vea has earned two Pro Bowl nods and has cemented his status as a reliable, productive option at defensive tackle. Here's a look at his career numbers:SeasonGamesTacklesSacksForced Fumbles2018132830201916352.502020510202021163340202214316.51202315435.522024164270202517344.50Career:112256353Vita Vea contract detailsVea is entering the final year of a four-year, $71 million deal he signed with the Buccaneers in 2021 as a rookie extension.Per Spotrac, he'll have a cap hit of $22.19 million this season.
