Roma hold another transfer summit ahead of Wales tripAfter many weeks of waiting and disappointment, with the Greenwood and Summerville deals falling through, Roma has begun its transfer campaign aimed at strengthening the squad. Roma fans welcomed Santiago Castro last night at Termini station: a deal worth approximately 35 million plus bonuses and a 10% share of any future resale. The Roman club wants to accelerate, and Ryan Friedkin has sent another signal. As Il Messaggero reports, a transfer market meeting took place yesterday evening at Trigoria to finalize the next moves to raise the level of Gasperinis squad. DAmico was, of course, present, as was Romas vice president on the call.Gasperini, who will be leaving with the team on Friday for the second phase of the summer training camp, will also be present. New signing Santiago Castro, who was warmly welcomed by the fans at Termini station, will also be present. The owners, even in yesterdays meeting, made it clear they would like to give the Grugliasco-born coach another signing who can work with the Giallorossi at the Vale Resort in Hensol and take part in the three friendlies scheduled against Cardiff, Newport, and Brighton. The primary target remains the right-footed left winger.

The Cougars have a few big, nasty games to deal with - at Utah, at TCU, Utah - but beat the loaded Irish, finish at least 10-2, and there will be no ignoring them, or the Big 12, this time around.Biggest Schedule QuirkTwo huge games on another continent. The 2026 college football season kicks off with TCU having to go to Dublin, Ireland, to face North Carolina. It'll be a huge showcase moment for the Big 12.If that wasn't funky enough, Arizona State and Kansas start their respective Big 12 seasons on September 19th in London. There's a solid shot both teams will be unbeaten when they meet in early November.Biggest Schedule QuirkUConn gets the big boys in its house. The Huskies play three Power Four games - Maryland, Syracuse, and North Carolina. All three have to play in Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field. The Huskies went 6-0 at home last year, including a victory over eventual ACC champion Duke.Biggest Independent Games of the Season1. Notre Dame at BYU, October 17Yeah, the Miami game is bigger for the Irish, but there's a shot this is more dangerous. The Hurricanes have to come to South Bend, while going to Provo is a dangerous midseason trap for the Irish.2. North Carolina at UConn, November 7Considering how tough North Carolina's schedule should be, it can't afford to lose this. It could be a national moment for the Huskies.3. Notre Dame vs Wisconsin (in Green Bay), September 6BE ... CAREFUL, Notre Dame. All of the preseason hype and national title hopes won't go up in smoke if it loses the season opener at Lambeau, but it'll be a stress-filled season if there's a misfire.Independent Schedule Rankings: Hardest to Easiest1. Notre Dame2. UConnMAC Football Schedule Breakdown 2026The MAC just became (almost) coast-to-coast with Sacramento State joining the mix. Now the travel part of the schedules becomes an even bigger deal.It's the MAC, and everyone has a few paycheck games, so timing of the four conference home games - and with the weeknight "MACtion" - play a role.Hardest Schedule: Kent StateThe road games at Ohio State and South Carolina take the overall schedule strength up a few notches, and going to USF doesn't help. The Golden Flashes go on the road for five of their last seven games.Easiest Schedule: UMassThe two FCS games against Sacred Heart and Stonehill desperately help the Minutemen's cause, and getting home games against Akron, Ball State, and Eastern Michigan are a huge plus.Most Important Non-Conference GameBoise State at Western Michigan, September 26There's a not-that-crazy chance that this is a late September showdown between two eventual conference champions. There's an even crazier shot that this will somehow determine the Group of Six spot in the College Football Playoff.Biggest Schedule QuirkSacramento State has turned things funky. It's almost 3,000 miles from Amherst, Massachusetts to Sacramento, and 2,300 miles for the Hornets to open the season up at Eastern Michigan. It'll be a long, tough road trip for Ball State, Kent State, Toledo, and UMass to deal with.Biggest MAC Games of the Season1. Western Michigan at Toledo, October 24The loser is probably out of the MAC Championship race.2. Miami University at Central Michigan, October 24This is when one of these two makes a statement and gets deep into the MAC hunt.3. Ohio at Kent State, October 3It's the MAC opener for Ohio, and it has to deal with a Kent State team looking to capitalize on the momentum of last year.MAC Schedule Rankings: Hardest to Easiest1. The road games are winnable, but that's three in a row.Easiest Schedule: North Dakota StateThere aren't any dates against Power Four teams, and the home games against Fordham, Jacksonville State, UTEP, and Northern Illinois drag the overall schedule score down.Most Important Non-Conference GameCal at UNLV, October 3rdIt won't be easy for a Mountain West team, no matter how good, to push out any of the other top Group of Six champion options out of the College Football Playoff. UNLV is the realistic best hope, and it must beat a solid Cal team.Biggest Schedule QuirkThe travel. There's cross-country travel for a game here and there, and then there's having to go to El Paso, or DeKalb, or Fargo, or Laramie.Northern Illinois will fly 4,200 miles to Honolulu in mid-October to play Hawaii.Biggest Mountain West Games of the Season1. UNLV at New Mexico, November 14The Lobos should've been in the Mountain West Championship last year instead of UNLV - there was a strange tie-breaker quirk. You're going to hear that a lot leading up to this revenge moment for the Lobos.2. North Dakota State at Air Force, September 12Is North Dakota State really about to take the FBS world by storm? It'll beat Jacksonville State and Fordham to start the season, and here's the chance to show that it'll be a Mountain West player from jump.3. Hawaii at Wyoming, September 26The Rainbow Warriors are among the true contenders for the Mountain West title. It's only an eight-team Pac-12 - for now - so it's easy to create a seven-game conference schedule. The solution to avoid playing an extra non-conference game is a one-game rematch.For example, Utah State opens the Pac-12 season at Boise State, and then the Broncos go to Logan in Week 12. Texas State at Colorado State, San Diego State at Fresno State, and Oregon State at Washington State are the other three.Biggest Pac-12 Games of the Season1.
