Winn got through his inning unscathed and handed things over to what amounted to a bulk pitcher today in Marco Gonzales, who I both forgot was a Ranger and had ever been one before he appeared on the mound today.Gonzales was in and out of trouble and lucky to make it through three innings allowing just one run. That run, in the bottom of the third, gave the Rays a 1-0 lead which the Rangers tied a half inning later when pinch hitter Joc Pederson hit a ball that appeared destined for a threat-ending double play but turned into a run-scoring fielders choice error.Pederson hit in that inning because Rays left-handed starter Shane McClanahan exited with an injury after three innings, rendering it a battle of the bullpens for both squads. That designation seemed to favor the Rays but it was the Rangers who took a lead in the middle innings when Texas sequenced into a run via an Alejandro Osuna single followed by a Wyatt Langford RBI double.That was Texas only two hits of the game.The Rays eventually tied the game on a solo home run by Jonny DeLuca off of Peyton Gray in the bottom of the sixth and then went ahead via a two-out solo home run by Cedric Mullins off of Ben Peoples in the bottom of the eighth.If youre wondering why the Rangers were making a trade for a reliever last evening, look no further than them turning to Ben Peoples in a tied game late that they could have stolen. But its not like the Rangers outplayed Tampa Bay and lost. Avoiding getting swept in this series was crucial and the Rangers accomplished that in the first game. They could have snuck another victory today but their overall lack of big league quality down the lineup and in the bullpen was evident in as getaway as you can get.Player of the Game: Langford is Texas best player and sure enough, he was the only guy to hit an extra base and the only guy to drive in a run today unless you are counting Pederson which I am not.Up Next: In a familiar scene to one from a few days ago, the Rangers enter a series up a half game against the American League West opponent directly behind them. The Los Angeles Angels reinstated catcher Travis dArnaud from the injured list after trading catcher Logan OHoppe and reliever Chase Silseth to the Texas Rangers on Wednesday.dArnaud has been out since May with right foot plantar fasciitis, playing just 14 games in MLB prior to his injury. Through those 14 games, he hit one home run and tallied three RBIs with a .614 OPS. He split time with OHoppe during the first month or so of the season, and will likely do the same with Tyler Heinemann going forward.I think well mix and match, manager Kurt Suzuki said. Obviously, not run somebody into the ground, but whichever guy we feel gives us the best opportunity to win that night. The Seahawks activated rookie defensive tackle Deven Eastern from the active/physically unable to perform list on Thursday after he passed a physical, the team announced.The Seahawks made Eastern a seventh-round pick out of the University of Minnesota, the 242nd overall choice.He missed much of the offseason program with an undisclosed injury.Eastern will compete for a roster spot at nose tackle, with Brandon Pili the only true nose tackle on the roster. Baltimore Ravens linebacker Trey Hendrickson made a Super Bowl appearance with the Cincinnati Bengals on Feb. 13, 2022. The 23-20 defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Rams may have inhibited Hendrickson then, but his new home with the Ravens should help him find optimism.Hendrickson recorded career-highs with 17.5 sacks and 33 solo tackles in 2024, numbers that the Ravens front office administrators could not ignore this offseason. Impressively, Hendrickson thrived on a Bengals roster that had been quite underwhelming since the departure of Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo in 2024. Injury inhibited Hendrickson in 2025 after four consecutive seasons with 15 or more games played. Perhaps it was Hendrickson's utilization that affected his durability, a reference point for Ravens head coach Jesse Minter to be mindful of in 2026.Ravens defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, Minter, and Hendrickson collectively have familiarity with the Bengals. With Hendrickson's intel across enemy lines, opportunities to make Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow hit the grass may rise for the Ravens defense. With the company of defensive tackles Calais Campbell and Nnamdi Madubuike, Hendrickson will be a powerful force.Hendrickson only had one recorded tackle in Super Bowl LVI, and his first opportunity to secure the Lombardi trophy slipped from his fingertips. 28-Year-Old Leeds United Player Close To Leaving In A Day Or Two: Do They Need A Replacement For Him?Leeds United appear ready to part ways with Lucas Perri after a fresh update emerged from Italy. According to respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, with the report relayed by Transfer Feed, Torino expect to wrap up the agreement either today or tomorrow as negotiations enter their final phase.Lucas Perri is close to leaving Leeds United for TorinoEverything points in one direction. Perri has already accepted personal terms with the Serie A side, who urgently need an experienced goalkeeper after Franco Israel suffered a serious injury. Leeds United have adjusted their position during talks as well. Instead of insisting on a permanent transfer, they are now willing to sanction a season-long loan that includes an option to buy worth up to 11.9 million. That change didnt happen by accident.Leeds United recently completed a club-record deal worth more than 40 million to sign James Trafford from Manchester City, making it increasingly difficult for Perri to reclaim a regular place under Daniel Farke.The Brazilian arrived with a strong reputation. He had represented Brazil at youth level and earned senior national team call-ups, while his impressive physical presence at 1.97 metres suggested he could handle Premier League football. Reality proved tougher.During the 2025/26 Premier League season, Perri made 16 appearances, kept three clean sheets, conceded 29 goals and played 1,440 league minutes before losing his place in the starting line-up. He needs complete trust from the coaching staff, consistent minutes and the freedom to settle without constant pressure from another keeper expecting to start. Financially, the deal works too.If Torino activate the 11.9 million purchase option next summer, Leeds United recover a sizeable part of their earlier investment while reducing the wage bill. That creates room for spending where the squad genuinely needs strengthening instead of keeping an unhappy backup.Leeds United still need another experienced goalkeeperOne problem remains. Karl Darlow has gone. Illan Meslier has moved on as well. That leaves Alex Cairns as the only senior cover behind Trafford, hardly an ideal position for a Premier League campaign packed with league and cup fixtures. Leeds dont need another expensive signing between the posts. They need reliability.An experienced goalkeeper willing to accept a supporting role would solve the issue without damaging Traffords status. Someone with Premier League or Championship experience could offer guidance inside the dressing room, step in during cup matches and provide dependable cover if injuries strike.Looking elsewhere should remain the priority for major spending. Daniel Farke still requires stronger competition at left-back behind Gabriel Gudmundsson, while another attacking option would add far greater value than committing significant funds to a second-choice goalkeeper.This feels like smart squad management rather than a disappointing exit. Perri never looked completely comfortable with the speed and physical demands of English football, despite producing flashes of real quality. Holding onto a goalkeeper who wants regular starts serves little purpose after Traffords arrival.Backing Trafford as the undisputed number one gives Leeds United a clear direction. Then the recruitment team can focus on finding an experienced, affordable deputy instead of chasing another high-profile signing. That approach keeps the goalkeeping department balanced and leaves more resources available for positions capable of adding points across a long Premier League season.
