I broke down the offense and defense in articles and I suggest reading those for a broad aspect of the room. The Raiders do have some talent on the interior OL, and Id expect Las Vegas to add more in 2027 as John Spytek does. These rankings are extremely early, and they will evolve over not only the summer but the next 8-10 months throughout the season, and into draft season. Some lists will feature 10, 15, 20, or more ranked prospects but Ill include others on the list below to note.Colin Simmons, Texas 63/245, JrSimmons is twitched up, and hell have a race to be the first EDGE off the board with Dylan Stewart. Hes posted a career 29.5 TFL and 21 sacks in two seasons and hes extremely athletic, strong, and shows a ton of pass rush moves. Simmons converts his speed to power, uses his full body, and plays with extreme violence. While slightly undersized, Simmons does have elite length, he is extremely quick off the ball, and moves exceptionally well when working laterally. Simmons has the ability to anchor vs the run, shows great lower body flexibility, and his biggest goal in 2026 is to continue developing and stay healthy. Simmons reminds me a lot of Jared Verse, and should be a perennial Pro Bowler in the NFL. Dylan Stewart, South Carolina 65/250, JrIf you want to know what a scouting report means when they say twitch, speed to power, and explosiveness watch Stewart. The 20 year old flys off the line of scrimage, has exceptional length, and he appears to teleport at times. Stewart is extremely athletic, has a ton of lower body agility, and his ability to bend is exceptional with an innate ability to basically play lateral to the ground. Id like to see Stewart add a bit more strength and not rely solely on the speed to power conversion. He has great lateral movement, is able to plant and drive, and his hand combat while raw shows a ton of true dominant moves. Hes more raw than Stewart, but hes longer, more athletic, and likely has a higher ceiling as well. Anthony Smith, Minnesota 66/280, R-JrAnthony Smith will fly up boards, and he is an impressive player. He broke out in 2025 with 17.5 TFLs and hes shown improvements as a pass rusher over time. Smith has awesome length, a good first step, and his ability to play in 2, 3, 4 point stances is impressive. The junior fires off the ball, drives up field, and has good hip/ankle flexibility with decent bend. Smith does a great job converting his second step speed to power, and shows great strength across his full body while driving the core through the rep consistently. Smith is raw, but hes shown the speed to power, athleticism, and a ton of versatility to thrive in any modern NFL defense. Clev Lubin, Louisville 63/255, R-JrLubin was a fan favorite in the 2026 class, and in 2027 he should have a chance to be a quick riser as well. Lubin, a former JUCO standout has never failed to record double digit sacks/TFL in his career across JUCO, Coastal Carolina, and now Louisville. Hes undersized, but does have good length, though he wins off pure speed, speed to power, and lower body agility. Lubin has flashes of elite hand strength, his pass rush moves are violent, and he has a diverse bag with an NFL ready chop/swipe/euro step. Lubin is smart, he knows how to rush the passer, and he does an excellent job setting tackles up to use his athleticism to his advantage. He uses his core, fires off the ball, and shows incredible second/third step pass rush athleticism. Lubin is a weakenss vs the run, hes needing to add lower body power, and his frame makes him an easier target but theres no denying the pure elite pass rush ability he has. Matayo Uiagalelei, Oregon 65/275, SrA true 3-4 end or base big end in a 4-3, Matayo is the brother of former Clemson/Oregon State/Florida State and Chargers QB DJ. Hes a stout physical defensive end with great explosion off the line of scrimmage, a strong second step, and elite speed to power. Uiagalelei does a good job using his full body in the rep, and he can be stiff at times, with a move to DT possible in his future. Uiagalelei has great length, elite core strength, and his overall pass rush arsenal is inconsistent but shows flashes of brilliance. This is a high rank, I think Uiagalelei can get back to his form from 2024 after a disappointing 2025, but he has the blend of athleticism, power, and technique to be a dominant EDGE. Boubacar Traore, Notre Dame 64/250, R-SoTraore will rise, and while reading these defensive breakdowns prepare to hear Notre Dame a ton. Traore has just 16 TFL and 10.5 sacks in his career but hes on pace for a breakout 2026. Traore has elite speed to power, is extremely strong, and also shows a diverse set of pass rush moves. Traore can defend the run at an elite level, and he needs to develop as a pass rusher. Quincy Rhodes Jr, Arkansas 66/275, R-JrDamon Wilson, Miami 65/255, R-JrKenyatta Jackson Jr, Ohio State 66/270, SrAdam Trick, Texas Tech 64/245, R-JrTrick was dominant in the MAC at Miami (OH) with 18 TFL, 13 sacks, and 5 FF in the last two seasons. He converted to EDGE from ILB in 2024 and has since been a standout at the position as well, hes an elite run defender with an ability to breakdown blocks, use his lower body strength, and has elite anchor/stack technique. Trick is a very raw pass rushers, hes an elite athlete with a ton of moves but nothing flashes as NFL ready yet. Trick will win with strength, hes able to use his core and lower body to defeat tackles, has great length, and does have good bend ability. Texas Tech has produced defensive lineman, and Id expect them to develop Tricks pass rush bag quickly. John Henry Daley, Michigan 64/250, JrDaley is coming off a serious knee injury but hes a very similar player to Trick with improved pass rush technique, though hes an adequate athlete. Theres a huge ceiling for Daley as a third pass rusher, high end run defender. Princewill Umanmielen, Ole Miss 65/250, SrTeitum Tuioti, Oregon 63/264, R-JrYhonzae Pierre, Alabama 63/250, R-SoWill Heldt, Clemson 66/270, R-JrHeldt can rise, and Id almost expect him too quickly. Hes new to the EDGE position and broke out in 2025 with 7.5 sacks and 16 TFL. He has elite athletic ability, has an elite frame, and does show good strength at the POA as well. Heldt is raw, he doesnt know how to rush the passers, and he too often can be too aggressive. His ability to rush out of multiple stances and techniques is intriguing, but limited him in terms of development. Heldt also has below expected strength, and that will be crucial to develop this season. The sky is truly the limit with Heldt, and you cant teach length/athleticism. Other Names To Watch:Taylor Wein, Oklahoma Anto Saka, Texas A&MJordan Ross, LSUToby Anene, ColoradoTrey White, Texas Tech Former San Diego state standout, smaller, limited athlete. Ton of production. EDGE 3/4 playerAde Adebawore, Oklahoma Up/Down career, likely a true 4/5 tech similar to Tonka Hemingway. Elite athlete, struggles vs the run Melkart Abou-Joude, UNC Elite athelte, struggles to defeat top tackle with average length and inconsistent pass rush plan. Jayden Virgin-Morgan, Boise StateWendell Gregory, Kansas StateBryce Young, Notre Dame 67/270 EDGE with twitchy alien like athleticism. Extremely raw strength and pass rush technique, diverse, versatile pass rusher. Good season can skyrocket him into Round 1. Beau Atkinson, Ohio State Indiana Trio Three adequate pass rushers/run defenders, no true standout.

Ohio State is known for its long list of standout wide receivers, and this year's roster will have no shortage of talent. But there's a name that may not be at the top of the list of potential x-factors that could raise the Buckeyes' ceiling even more. While Smith and Innis will be one of the top 1-2 combos at wideout across the entire country, adding the skill and size that Henry brings to the field would be another addition to an already explosive offense.Ohio State has always had two stars on the outside, but what has made its offense so dependable and effective year after year is the ability to have 3-4 wideouts consistently on the field and producing. Whether it was Smith, Emeka Egbuka, Innis and Carnell Tate or the years of Marvin Harrison Jr, Julian Fleming, Egbuka or the dating back to the early 2020's of Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson and Jaxon Smith-Njigba -- the talent level at wideout has made it nearly impossible for opposing defenses to slow down Ohio State's offense.With the 2026 season right around the corner, though there's still a competition and other veterans in the room, Henry appears to be the guy that Ohio State is looking at to step up and be impactful from day one.I do think that Chris has had a very good offseason, Ohio State coach Ryan Day said during Big Ten Media Days. There were fans on hand for training camp practice for the first time. And they were treated to the direct sun side of the field. The players, on the other hand, see the direct sun every day, and the 95 degree morning heat that comes with it. That didn't stop them from putting some good looking product on the field, though.Here are a few standouts from today.QB Kirk CousinsHe was absolutely dealing. Perfect passes perfectly placed all day, leading to some great catches that seemed near impossible for defenders to get to. This included dime balls in the back left corner of the end zone to Brock Bowers and the back right corner to Tre Tucker. Then a tight fit ball to Jack Bech in the back of the end zone.TE Brock BowersTwo days in a row now Brock has been among the standouts. His first great catch came on a deep crossing route from right to left, leaving Isaiah Pola-Mao with no chance at it. Later Brock gave rookie Zeke Masses a welcome to the NFL moment, beating him on a corner route for a touchdown.WR Jack BechThe first play Bech made was a nice block on a run out to the left. Then in red zone sessions, he beat Eric Stokes in the back of the end zone for the score.DT Tonka HemingwayToday the Raiders did quite a bit of rotating among first team defensive tackles. But the most consistent presence out there was Hemingway. His former DL coach Rob Leonard is now the DC and sees big things from the second year defensive tackle. He batted a pass down at the line at one point. Other DTs to see first team reps included Jonah Laulu, Adam Butler, Benito Jones, and Thomas Booker IV.RB Mike WashingtonWashington has shown some impressively smooth running so far. Today he showed a bit of skills as a receiver too. He went on a wheel route and broke open to catch the Fernando Mendoza pass and pick up around ten yards. As if to drive the point home, the next play they ran the same thing, only this time with Dylan Laube. As we enter the final stretch before the 2026 MLB trade deadline at 6 p.m. ET Monday, things have remained relatively quiet thus far. But recent history tells us that the trade activity doesnt really ramp up until the final 48 hours or so.With that in mind, here are some thoughts on a few more teams that could be major players in the hours before the deadline.Atlanta BravesAfter a rollicking April and May, the Bravos are 24-25 since the start of June. Theyre still NL East favorites, as the Phillies are mired in a rough stretch, but Atlanta isnt just playing for a playoff berth. This team wants to make noise in October.Offensive regression from the likes of Dom Smith, Mike Yastrzemski and Austin Riley has been a main culprit in the Braves slump. So has Ronald Acua Jr.s time on the injured list (he returned this week). But Atlantas rotation falling precipitously back to Earth over the past few months is probably the single biggest concern for president of baseball operations Alex Anthopoulos and his front office.Spencer Schwellenbach and Spencer Strider have both been nonfactors this season, sidelined by assorted arm-related ailments. Entering the season, that duo was supposed to back up main man Chris Sale. That hasnt happened. Grant Holmes, Martin Perez, Bryce Elder and Reynaldo Lopez have been serviceable, but Atlantas starting staff, as currently composed, isnt causing the Dodgers or Brewers to lose a wink of sleep.That makes the Braves a compelling sleeper for the deadlines biggest prize: Back-to-back Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal.Anthopoulos is not one for passivity; the swashbuckling exec has a lengthy track record of swinging blockbuster deals. In 2015, for instance, while helming the Toronto Blue Jays, he acquired David Price and Troy Tulowitzki in the span of a few days. In 2021, he authored one of the most impactful deadlines in recent memory, rebuilding his entire outfield with a series of trades that propelled Atlanta to a World Series title. This time around, its difficult to envision him standing pat.Does that mean acquiring Skubal? Probably not, but it could. Atlantas farm system, ranked toward the absolute bottom entering the season, has had a very strong year. Breakouts from Canadian outfielder Eric Hartman and Las Vegas high school shortstop Tate Southesine have reinvigorated a very depleted unit. That, alongside a bevy of interesting young hurlers, means the Braves could absolutely cobble together a package for Skubal.All signs point toward Detroit president of baseball operations Scott Harris prioritizing pitching in a Skubal deal, as the Tigers farm system is overwhelmingly skewed toward position-player talent. Anthopoulos, then, could offer up any combination of Schwellenbach, AJ Smith-Shawver, JR Ritchie, Didier Fuentes, Owen Murphy, Cam Caminiti and/or Hurston Waldrep. Besides Smith-Shawver, who just returned from elbow surgery, none of that group appears primed to significantly impact the 2026 Braves. Could they impact the 2027 Tigers?Finally, theres perhaps the most compelling argument for a Braves/Skubal deal: Keeping the left-handed monster away from Los Angeles and Milwaukee. The Dodgers and Brewers are considered the two favorites to secure Skubals services. Atlanta would almost surely need to knock off one, if not both, of those juggernauts to achieve October glory. The easiest way to beat Skubal might just be to trade for him.New York MetsAll the rentals will go.It has been a catastrophic season in Queens, one that has reframed the reputation of president of baseball operations David Stearns. But for all the deserved criticism levied at the Mets head honcho, Stearns appears to understand the harsh reality of where his team has ended up. This club is selling and selling big.New York already got the firesale underway, dealing reliever A.J. Minter to the Twins late Thursday for a pair of minor-league infielders. Thatll just be the beginning. Freddy Peralta, a free agent at years end, was scratched from his start Friday, presumably in order to preserve his health and availability for a potential suitor. Other likely free agents include outfielder Tyrone Taylor, outfielder Luis Robert Jr., reliever Brooks Raley and starting pitcher Clay Holmes. All will be in other colors by Monday afternoon.The main question then, for Stearns and Co., is whether to part with pieces under team control beyond 2026. Despite a flurry of rumors earlier this month, cornerstone shortstop Francisco Lindor isnt going anywhere. Reliever Luke Weaver, on the other hand, is a hot commodity and likely to be moved. Other names to watch are infielders Mark Vientos and Brett Baty, though neither comes with particularly enormous trade value.How Stearns operates in the next week will play a role in determining just how long of a leash he gets in Queens going forward.Philadelphia PhilliesAll the bickering between Bryce Harper and president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski sure is entertaining, in a rubbernecking type of way. But how much does it really matter?Harper made waves by encouraging his boss to be aggressive at the deadline, insinuating that the roster as currently constructed doesnt have the horses to make a deep October run. A quick glance at Phillys roster would prove him correct, as the Phillies need upgrades in multiple spots. The back of their rotation has been an unmitigated horror show and an automatic loss whenever the No. 5 spot rolls around. Every depth starter, from Freddy Peralta to Robbie Ray to Drew Anderson to Mr. Clanky from Backyard Baseball, should be on Philadelphias radar. So, too, for the umpteenth year running, should be back-end bullpen reinforcements and a right-handed-hitting outfielder.Phillys farm system is down, meaning Dombrowski might not be able to conjure a fan-base-pleasing blockbuster. But he can upgrade this disjointed, undermanned roster and help paper over some of the cracks that have pushed the Phillies down the standings over the past few weeks.

Two former Cincinnati high school standout tennis players have been awarded wild cards to the Cincinnati Open.JJ Wolf (Cincinnati Country Day) and Vignesh Gogineni (Mason) were granted qualifying wild card spots, the tournament announced on Friday, July 31. The main draw wild cards were awarded to former Cincinnati Open champion Grigor Dimitrov, three-time Major champion Stan Wawrinka, Jack Draper and Gael Monfils. Wolf, who has been ranked as high as No. 39 throughout his career (2023), is on the comeback trail after shoulder injuries sidelined him for over a year. He has recently played in ATP Challengers in Bloomfield Hills, Lincoln and Cary. Wolf is still searching for his first main draw victory in his hometown tournament. He lost in the Round of 64 in 2020, 2022 and 2023. In his last Cincinnati Open appearance, he fell in the opening round of qualifying. Gogineni was a three-time All-Ohio selection and an All-American at Mason, winning a state title as a senior in 2022. He also helped lead the Comets to a team state title in 2019. He went on to Yale University, where he earned first-team All-Ivy honors as a senior and competed in the NCAA Individual Championships. He has five ITF events under his belt thus far, reaching the quarterfinals twice in California in June (Claremont and San Diego). Qualifying at the Cincinnati Open begins on Tuesday, Aug. 11. Fifa president Gianni Infantino arrives for the World Cup final on 19 July [Getty Images]Life moves fast for Fifa president Gianni Infantino.It was doing so earlier this month as he was zig-zagging across the United States in a private jet to make him virtually omnipresent as the World Cup reached its crescendo.On 19 July he must have felt on top of the world as, together with US President Donald Trump, they handed the trophy over to Spain.Less than two weeks later, Infantino is in a lonely place.Condemned by UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham, castigated by fans of the game he professes to want to protect. These can easily be deflected as hazards of the job.Less so the threatened boycott of Fifa competitions by European governing body Uefa - an attack reinforced by Concacaf (North and Central America and the Caribbean) and the AFC (Asia).All three organisations, in their own way, offered a withering assessment of how Fifa is being run under Infantino."This issue extends far beyond a single proposal," said the AFC. "Rather, it has exposed fundamental weaknesses in Fifa's consultation and decision-making processes that must now be addressed."Sources say, in addition to rejecting Infantino's plan, the vast majority of the Concacaf members are either losing faith in the Fifa president's ability to govern the game, or have lost it altogether.On top of that, Carlos Cordeiro, special advisor to Infantino and appointed by Trump as senior advisor to the White House Task Force on the 2026 World Cup, has resigned.Fifa's chief operating officer Kevin Lamour said in a statement to Associated Press that Fifa's own administration was "deceived" about the project.BBC Sport has approached Fifa for comment.It feels as though the walls are closing in on Infantino.But if this is the beginning of the end of his tenure, who takes over?Fifa executive joins Burnham in questioning InfantinoCourting controversy and befriending Trump - the story of Fifa boss InfantinoCould Infantino really go?Firstly, it is wise to be realistic.Speaking to BBC Sport earlier this week, former Football Association chairman David Bernstein said of Infantino: "In a normal organisation, if he has to back down due to something of this magnitude he'd probably be shown the door."But Fifa is not a normal organisation. If he has the support of enough of the national associations, he will continue."Former Fifa vice-president Jim Boyce said he thinks Infantino will "still have enough support" to be re-elected but "if things continue at the pace they are continuing, who knows?"He added: "If I was a betting man, which I'm not, I would still bet he will get his final four-year term."Infantino has been Fifa president since 2016. Before that he was secretary general of Uefa for seven years. Few know the map of football politics better than him.Now 56, Infantino became president by beating Asian Football Confederation president Sheikh Salman al-Khalifa by 115 votes to 88. His task was to clean up an organisation tainted by corruption allegations following the resignation of predecessor Sepp Blatter. Blatter was cleared of corruption charges last year."I will work tirelessly to bring football back to Fifa and Fifa back to football," said Infantino at the time.Infantino has twice been re-elected unopposed, and it was expected the same thing would happen again next March. This is not unusual. Blatter was unopposed in 2007 and 2011.Brazilian Joao Havelange was the last person to unseat a Fifa president in an election, ousting Sir Stanley Rous in 1974. No-one opposed Havelange for five straight terms until he finally resigned in 1998, aged 82.Letters of support backing Infantino's re-election have been submitted. Will they be withdrawn? BBC Sport knows of at least one Uefa member who has withdrawn their letter as the drama of this week has unfolded.Who could replace him?Concacaf president Victor Montagliani consoles Lionel Messi after Argentina's World Cup final defeat by Spain [Getty Images]Victor Montagliani (Concacaf president)Like Infantino, he was elected in 2016 promising governance reform. A former president of Canada Soccer, as co-chair, Montagliani was heavily involved in the build up to, and delivery of the 2026 World Cup, the first to be hosted by three nations. He is fluent in French, Italian and Spanish, as well as English.Explaining his decision to run for the Concacaf presidency, Montagliani told the BC Business website: "Like anything, when I decide to go, I go. I campaigned on my own dime for three months, went to see all 41 countries, from the US to Bonaire, a little island off Venezuela."Montagliani took the lead when Concacaf hosted an expanded Copa America in 2024 - in an interview with BBC Sport he rejected the idea it could become a regular occurrence. Politically strong, he smoothed relations around Arsene Wenger's attempt to gain support for a World Cup every two years and has never truly bought into the idea of a 64-team World Cup.At the Leaders conference in 2025, he outlined why he felt football was strong enough to ride out any storm."The game is bigger than world current leaders," he said. "Football will survive regimes. Does it cause a headache? Of course. You have to be realistic about that. That is the beauty of our game, it is bigger than any individual and country."Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa (AFC president)Initially elected in 2013, he was elected unopposed for a fourth term to run to 2027.The Bahraini has presided over significant growth within the Asian confederation, through the Champions League Elite, Champions League Two, the Challenge League and the Women's Champions League, which was launched in 2024-25. The Asian Cup has been expanded to 24 teams.Sheikh Salman signed off the brutal takedown of how Fifa is being run by Infantino and has carried with him a 46-member confederation, many of whom are aware the figures being offered by Infantino's plan are huge in terms of their overall football expenditure.PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi (left) with manager Luis Enrique after the Champions League final victory over Arsenal in May [Getty Images]Nasser Al-Khelaifi (PSG president and chair of European Football Clubs - EFC)Previously known as the European Clubs' Association, Al-Khelaifi took over as chairman in the aftermath of the other seismic event that threatened to pull the game apart - the ill-fated European Super League, which collapsed within 48 hours in 2021.Al-Khelaifi presided over a name change - to European Football Clubs. More importantly, he expanded it to more than 800 members. Of the biggest clubs, only Real Madrid remain outside.In theory, the Qatari would be a serious challenger to Infantino. But it seems he doesn't want the role. "He genuinely, genuinely, genuinely doesn't want the job," was the response of a source close to the 52-year-old when asked about the possibility on Thursday.Mattias Grafstrom (Fifa secretary general)Appointed in May 2024 and an increasingly influential voice around the Fifa table.Multi-lingual, Grafstrom become Infantino's chief of staff following his election as president in 2016.Another very visual presence at the World Cup, he could be seen as being too close to Infantino - and the general feeling Fifa's next president needs to be a non-European might also count against him.Fifa's next president will be confirmed at the organisation's 77th Congress in Morocco next March.
