Why on earth would you not do that, he revealed.But for whatever reason, Vince did not see it, didnt like it, didnt want it. And I was like, this is a home run. This is an easy main event for a pay-per-view. But I dont really have an answer. I never really had an in-depth conversation with Vince about why he didnt want to do it.My goodness, a Sting vs. Undertaker? Again, he obviously knows more about business than I do, but that one just seems like a home run. They decided to walk the guy instead of pitching it to him? I dont know what happened there. I mean, I dont have any regrets. It wasnt my decision. But, my goodness, I would have loved to have been able to have that match. Theres not a ton of critical information to pull from just 48 hours of practice time, but the trends are starting to develop on both sides of the ball.Here are three questions were left with heading into the weekend around Cowboys training camp.1. Checking the MicAfter two days of camp, head coach Brian Schottenheimer sounds very confident in DeMarvion Overshowns ability to wear the green dot on defense. Schotty said the team ran through a scenario in which the headset communication between Christian Parker and Overshown broke down. It was up to Overshown to make the right call. The Dallas head coach praised the young linebacker for getting the team in the right spot.Its no secret the Cowboys linebacking core is a question mark right now, and it starts with who the team feels confident in to lead the defense and relay the calls on the field. Schottenheimer said there are about three or four players that will rotate the mic responsibilities as camp moves along. Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said in addition to DeMarvion Overshown wearing the green dot, rookie Caleb Downs, Shemar James and Curtis Robinson are also wearing the green dot. However, given what CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, and Ryan Flournoy have done over two days, it begs the question of whether four receivers might be enough to make the initial 53-man roster.The Cowboys might want to go longer at positions of question like defensive line or linebacker, so having a fifth wide receiver could be a luxury Dallas cant afford. The Cowboys may have the best wide receiver trio in the NFL, and adding KaVontae Turpin into the mix as a gadget, fourth option may be enough. Jonathan Mingo, Anthony Smith, Traeshon Holden and the rest of the wide receiver room will have to be special to justify Dallas keeping a fifth wide receiver over a defensive player. 3. Rushing to conclusionsAfter two days, if one side of the ball had to be crowned the winner, it would be the offense. Dak Prescott has reportedly had all day to throw in the pocket and hasnt seen much pressure. The glass-half-full approach would say the Dallas offense will live up to the hype of Greatest Offense There Is and the offensive line is poised to take a big step forward. Most notable was this years first look at Dime personnel, the defensive formation with six defensive backs, one linebacker and four pass-rushing threats up front.In the back end, cornerbacks Mansoor Delane and Nohl Williams manned the outside spots. Safety Christian Roland-Wallace stayed as the slot defender, the same role he mans in Nickel formations, and LJarius Sneed was substituted in the place of second linebacker Drue Tranquill coming off the field.Through the first three days of camp, it appeared Sneed who still leaves practice early for planned rehabilitation was preparing to play on the outside. However, this suggests defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo is, at the very least, considering using Sneed as the Dime safety.Against a balanced set, this would set up Sneed and Roland-Wallace as the two slot defenders to take on slot receivers, tight ends and running backs on pass downs.Up front, the Chiefs teased a pass-rush front that had defensive ends George Karlaftis and rookie R Mason Thomas on the edge; Chris Jones and Anudike-Uzomah were rushing from inside for a look.As the practice moved forward, the Chiefs defense showed off multiple fronts in team periods. To start one full-team period against the starting offense, nose tackle Khyiris Tonga was joined by rookie Peter Woods on the interior instead of starter Chris Jones.Later in the period, Spagnuolo deployed a three-man front that used Tranquill as the fourth on-ball player along with Jones, Woods and Karlaftis. Behind them, linebackers Nick Bolton and Jeffrey Bassa played the second level in the 3-3 formation.Its also worth pointing out that veteran linebacker Jack Cochrane appeared to rotate in with Cooper McDonald as the SAM linebacker in base formations.Offensive lineup notesThe starting right tackle position continues to be manned by rookie Kahlil Benson, who appeared to be the exclusive first-team right tackle in Saturdays practice for the third consecutive day. The second-team offensive line has featured Jaylon Moore and Esa Pole switching back and forth from right and left tackle every day.Throughout practices on Friday and Saturday, it has been clear that running back Brashard Smith has a stronger place in the Chiefs starting offense than rookie Emmett Johnson does. On Friday, his receivers found more open space than previous days, but Saturday appeared to go back to closing every throwing window and making Kansas Citys pass catchers earn big plays.Wide receiver Xavier Worthy has been a prime example. We have yet to see him get easy separation in camp, aside from running past slot cornerback Kader Kohou on an all-out blitz that featured no safety help. On Saturday, Worthy overcame the tight coverage to make two finishes on two incredibly tough catches.On the first play of the initial 11-on-11 period, the Chiefs defense deployed a one-high safety look with man coverage. Worthy ran across the formation and looked over his shoulder for a pass with a cornerback trailing him closely and safety Alohi Gilman over the top. The pass somehow got through, and Worthy secured it in traffic.On another opening play of a full-team period, Mahomes lobbed it up for Worthy running away from man coverage to the pylon. Worthy laid out for it and secured the deep ball through the ground.On another seven-on-seven play, Gilman finished the close coverage he had over the top of a deep route by wide receiver Tyquan Thornton, burying the ball at the catch point.Gilman has given little to Mahomes over the middle, but it was Tranquill who baited him into a pick during seven-on-seven Saturday. Kelce worked a route to come open over the middle, but Tranquill read Mahomes eyes the whole way and jumped the pass from the backside for a highlight-reel pick.Its clear that cornerback Mansoor Delane is playing with intensity and fire, especially after learning that he is playing one-handed during camp, potentially against the wishes of the staff.After one run play in a full-team period, he and wide receiver Nikko Remigio stayed face to face, getting into it enough for a crowd of teammates to come over and break them up to keep practice rolling.Closer to the end of practice, Delane kept his head on a swivel in zone coverage and snagged a pass off the outstretched hands of Kelce. Purposefully or not, Delane tossed the ball in Mahomes direction at the end of the play, symbolizing the confident mentality he has come to camp with despite donning the non-contact jersey.

During the Jets' second practice of camp on Thursday, he was credited with three sacks there's no contact on quarterbacks, of course with one during which he bull-rushed right tackle Armand Membou and buzzed past running back Breece Hall to get to Geno Smith.Oh, hes gonna be phenomenal, defensive lineman Kingsley Enagbare gushed. Hes going to have a long, long career. The skys the limit for that dude. He can literally do it all: He can stop the run, he can rush the passer.That's a talent-filled package the Jets fell in love with leading to the draft. And Bailey understands that, along with the responsibility that comes with being such a high selection.I wouldnt necessarily say I feel pressure, Bailey said. "Its in the back of your mind. Like, you know youre the No. 2 pick, you know theres high expectations just from the fans and also from teammates and the staff and everything. But I try to like not let that get to me. I try to say really nothing has changed, honestly. Like in terms of if I want to be the best, I've got certain things that I need to do.On that list: getting a deep understanding of Aaron Glenn's playbook on defense, studying videos, taking care of his body as a pro and watching other pass rushers he's trying to emulate. Bailey said Von Miller is the first player he thoroughly studied, especially since the 6-foot-3, 251-pound rookie has a similar physical makeup. But he has also focused on players such as Aidan Hutchinson and Myles Garrett.I realize that I have my own personal game, Bailey said. So its kind of like its a process in selecting what you think that you can add to your bag, but then also maybe make certain tweaks in terms of how youre going to run it on the field.Bailey was the highest-selected defensive player taken in the NFL draft in Jets history and considered by many the most pro-ready edge rusher. After transferring to Texas Tech, he had 14 1/2 sacks last season his combined total in three seasons at Stanford with 52 tackles, 19 1/2 tackles and three forced fumbles, all on strip sacks. Being kind of a younger guy, man, I feel like its my responsibility to bring a lot of juice and to also rely on the understanding of the older guys and just being there and helping them in any way possible. He wasn't as disruptive during practice Saturday as he was Thursday, with Membou the Jets' first-round pick last year mostly keeping him at bay.He's been getting me better, Bailey said. Bills safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson left Saturday's practice on a cart after suffering what appeared to be an injury to his lower right leg and there's no immediate word as to the severity of the injury. Gardner-Johnson was not contacted before the injury and got on the cart after a brief examination on the field. After the practice, General Manager Brandon Beane said that further word on his outlook would wait for testing. I dont know anything yet. Until we get an MRI, well see," Beane said, via John Wawrow of the Associated Press.The Bills signed Gardner-Johnson as a free agent this offseason and he was set to play a big role in the team's secondary, so any bad news on the MRI will lead to some shuffling on the back end of the defense in Buffalo.

A swap of MLB players would make a lot of sense for the Astros. In fact, one such trade nearly happened, according to MLB insider Michael Marino.Reportedly, the Astros and Minnesota Twins agreed to a swap of Bryan Abreu for Trevor Larnach. But, Astros owner Jim Crane reportedly nixed the trade, missing out on a chance for a good one-for-one swap that would've netted Houston a valuable outfielder.Astros reportedly miss out on Trevor Larnach thanks to owner Jim Crane"Sources: The Astros and Twins had agreed to a trade that would send Bryan Abreu to the Twins for Trevor Larnach," Marino reports. It is currently unclear if those talks will be revisited."While there's still plenty of uncertainty about this report, it's still one that deserves some heavy scrutiny for Crane, for how big a missed opportunity this would be.Abreu is 29 years old and has a 4.74 ERA this season. He has been a lot better lately, but overall, he's not been the star reliever he once was. Besides, Abreu is hitting free agency after 2026, so selling him now would make sense.Larnach, meanwhile, is a left-handed-hitting outfielder for the Twins who is 29 years old and under club control through the 2027 season.MORE:Astros among teams calling Giants about Logan Webbs trade availabilityIn 91 games in 2026, Larnach has 1.2 bWAR with eight home runs, a .283 batting average, and an .812 OPS. The 49ers placed Ricky Pearsall on injured reserve Saturday and one of the players in position to help replace him on offense is out of practice with an injury. Rookie De'Zhaun Stribling is not practicing because of hamstring tightness. The 49ers said, via multiple reporters, that Stribling is not dealing with a strain. In addition to losing Pearsall with a PCL injury, the 49ers have been practicing without veteran Christian Kirk. Kirk has missed several days with a calf injury. Stribling was the first pick of the second round this year and his early work has earned rave reviews from quarterback Brock Purdy. A brief absence probably wouldn't alter plans for him to play a role right out of the gate, but any extended time off the field would work against an early impact for the rookie.
