The 4 Barcelona stars who could still leave this summer
The 4 Barcelona stars who could still leave this summerFour members of the first-team ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona could yet be on the move before the summer is out. Thats according to Diario Sport, who have on Monday provided an insight into the situation. The most certain of the Blaugrana exits is Marc-Andr ter Stegen, whose loan switch to the Eredivisie with Ajax is expected to be made official at some point this week.Midfielder Marc Casad is considered the best potential source of funds at the Camp Nou, amid widespread interest in the signature of a Spanish international who still boasts plenty of room for growth. Also a contender to depart is Roony Bardghji. Following the respective arrivals of Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi in Catalunyas capital this summer, winger Bardghji has been deemed surplus to requirements. Barca would be keen on a permanent sale featuring a buyback clause. And last up comes Ferran Torres. Frontman Ferran is the subject of serious transfer interest on the part of Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain. Hansi Flick and co. are hopeful of the 26-year-old ultimately putting pen to paper on a new contract, but Ferran himself will have the final say.Ansu Fati and Iaki Pea as things stand remain the only players to have brought fees of note to Barcelona this summer.Conor Laird GSFN

Nets rank 22nd in the Athletic's NBA offseason rankings
The Brooklyn Nets have done most of their business that they'll conduct for the rest of the offseason now that the 2026 NBA Draft, summer circuit, and free-agency are in the rearview mirror. Brooklyn's biggest move of the summer was trading for Minnesota Timberwolves forward Julius Randle and while no other sizable move was made, the Nets are still getting some positive recognition for what they did."Ill be surprised if Randle is here long term (the 31-year-old has a player option for the 2027-28 season at $35.8 million). But for now, he and Michael Porter Jr. can put the ball in the basket," David Aldridge wrote for The Athletic when discussing Brooklyn's offseason thus far. The Nets ranked 22nd on the Athletic's offseason rankings list and it seems like Brooklyn is still in a good position amidst its rebuild."Egor Demin should take a Year 2 jump, and Brown should finally solve the search for a franchise point guard," Aldridge continued on the Nets' offseason. "Brooklyn has a ways to go, but at the very least, this group should be more competitive most nights next season for Jordi Fernndez and get out of the league basement in offensive rating. Its a start."Along with adding Randle this offseason, the Nets have also acquired guard Mikel Brown Jr., forward Joshua Jefferson, and forward Tyler Bilodeau in the 2026 draft. After that, Brooklyn signed guard Keon Ellis and center Mo Wagner in free-agency while re-signing forward Josh Minott and center Day'Ron Sharpe, who should be the starting center next season after Nic Claxton was sent to the Chicago Bulls as part of the Randle trade.Along the way, the Nets let free-agents Ziaire Williams (who signed with the Los Angeles Lakers), Jalen Wilson, and Ochai Agbaji walk as they were building the roster for next year and beyond. Brooklyn has added more veterans to the rotation as head coach Jordi Fernandez enters his third season as head coach so the hope is that the moves general manager Sean Marks made this summer will pan out. This article originally appeared on Nets Wire: Nets rank 22nd in the Athletic's NBA offseason rankings

Red Sox get All-Star catcher Adley Rutschman from AL East rival Orioles
The Boston Red Sox acquired All-Star catcher Adley Rutschman from the Baltimore Orioles on Monday for a package that includes three of their top prospects. The 28-year-old Rutschman is hitting .251 with eight home runs and 47 RBIs this season. He earned an All-Star nod for the third time but is currently on the injured list with left wrist inflammation. Hes also dealt with an ankle injury and a concussion this year. The deal was announced about an hour before Mondays trade deadline. Baltimore also sent catcher Jake Rogers to the Red Sox. In return, the Orioles received minor league right-handers Anthony Eyanson and Kyson Witherspoon, minor league outfielder Enddy Azocar, catcher Carlos Narvez and a player to be named later. Eyanson, Witherspoon and Azocar were ranked among Bostons top five prospects by MLB Pipeline, with Eyanson in the top 50 in all of baseball. If he can return to the field soon, Rutschman is a significant addition for a Boston team that stormed back into the postseason picture with a 15-game winning streak last month. The Red Sox needed catching help, and their offense is also dealing with injuries to Triston Casas, Trevor Story, Roman Anthony and even the recently acquired Curtis Mead. The Orioles drafted Rutschman with the No. 1 overall pick in 2019, but unlike Bobby Witt Jr., the second pick that year, he hasnt signed a long-term contract. Rutschman can become a free agent after next season.Trading him to an AL East rival is a bitter pill for some Baltimore fans. In many ways, he represented both the success and failure of the past few years for the Orioles. He made his debut in 2022 and the team took off, finishing with a winning record that year and then storming to a 101-win campaign in 2023.Baltimore made the playoffs in 2024, but Rutschman slumped down the stretch and was unable to rebound in 2025, when the Orioles collapsed to a last-place finish. Hes been better this year but has played in only 67 games. Baltimore is 54-58 and entered Monday 2 1/2 games behind the final playoff spot in the American League.Samuel Basallo, who has 16 homers this season, now becomes Baltimores clear No. 1 catcher. However, the 21-year-old Basallo is currently on the injured list as well.

Top 3 Position Groups The Colts Quietly Need to Produce This Year
When you think of the storylines surrounding the Colts this year of course the big names like Daniel Jones, Josh Downs, and Sauce Gardner come to mind. After all, the Colts need their best players to have good seasons in order to be successful. But for the sake of this exercise, Im not going to include them.DEFENSIVE END: Michael Clemons/Jaylahn TuimoloauPeople forget the Colts signed Clemons to a sizable deal for a 4th round pick that never put it together in New York. The Colts DE depth is thin as it is and theyre asking Laiatu Latu to carry the burden of a group of players with very little pedigree or stature in the league.3-year $17.5M isnt the type of contract that will cause long term financial damage, but its enough to demand production when DL depth was the Colts biggest need heading into the spring, and Clemons was one of the few moves the Colts made to address it.Im combining Clemons with Jaylahn Tuimoloau because they go hand-in-hand. The Colts simply cannot afford to have a third straight 2nd round pick fail to pan out for them.In my opinion, the storylines around the DL are too focused around Laiatu Latu becoming a stud pass rusher, when it really should be about the resources Chris Ballard surrounded the room with.Obviously Laiatu Latu needs to take the next step as a pass rusher, but if Latu is ever unavailable, this is the worst defensive end room in the league. After some thinking, I've arrived at this conclusion:If both Jaylahn Tuimoloau and Michael Clemons don't produce this year, it would be completely unacceptable regardless of how the overall defense preforms. In my mind there's a lot riding on how those two preform this year. Colts Film Room (@ColtsFilmRoom) August 2, 2026BACKUP RUNNING BACK: DJ Giddens, Seth McGowanThe backup RB spot was an afterthought for the Colts in 2026 given how special Jonathan Taylor was playing (Outside of some quality Ameer Abdullah reps). While JT will continue to get the bulk of the carries, and deservedly so, I often think about the 2023 season and the role Zack Moss had. While JT has done an incredible job staying on the field, hes headed for his third contract. RB longevity is scarce, and while JT is a rare breed an exception to the rule, I think the Colts would be wise to manage some of his carries to make sure hes available when it matters.Additionally last year he regressed as the season wore on in pass protection and teams like the Chiefs and Steelers set the blueprint for how to take advantage of that. The Colts seemed excited aboutDJ Giddens , yet only Abdullah seemed to crack the starting roster. The Colts staff values trust (sometimes to a fault), and Giddens has yet to earn that. I dont think theres enough of a sample size of publicly available snaps to say whether Giddens can pan out for the Colts yet, but I did like the pick at the time.Seth McGowan is another interesting pick that I think offers the Colts some upside. I think McGowan has the better chance of the two to make an impact for the Colts. Giddens had the opportunity to emerge last year, but Ameer Abdullah won Shane Steichen over and became. the de facto 2nd RB.Nonetheless, it all comes down to whether or not the Colts want to manage JTs snap count. Its hard to see what he does every Sunday and take him off the field, but it would feel a lot easier if one of two backs emerged.RIGHT SIDE OF THE OL: Matt Goncalves, Jalen Farmer, Jalen TravisWeve lived in a Chris Ballard world where the OL has rarely been the concern of the Colts. Its one of the few benefits that I think Colts fans probably take for granted. With Braden Smith departing in free agency and the Colts drafting Jalen Farmer to push Goncalves in year 2 at guard, I think theres some fair question marks. While I have very little doubt that Tony Sparano Jr. wont find a proper solution, but its crucial that the right side of the OL holds up this year.Daniel Jones obviously needs proper protection as someone who has historically struggled under pressure and struggled to stay healthy, but also because the Colts have a diverse run game that needs versatile lineman in order to execute.
