MILWAUKEE (AP) The Milwaukee Brewers had their sights set on acquiring a top-tier pitcher before the trade deadline namely Tarik Skubal but had to shift gears when the back-to-back AL Cy Young Award winner ended up with the Los Angeles Dodgers.Instead, the Brewers, who entered Monday tied with the Dodgers for the best record in the major leagues, settled for veteran starter Dustin May, who was acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals shortly before the deadline.Milwaukee also got left-handed reliever JoJo Romero in the deal. In exchange, the Brewers sent minor league outfielders Alexander Fras and Josiah Ragsdale to the Cardinals.The NL Central leaders bolstered their bullpen further by obtaining reliever Antonio Senzatela from the Colorado Rockies for left-hander Mark Manfredi, who has split time between Double-A Biloxi and Triple-A Nashville, and infielder Juan Martnez, who has played with the Rookie ACL Brewers and Class A Wilson this season.The fans have every right to have any opinion they want about what we should or shouldnt do, Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy said before Monday nights game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. After he tested positive for COVID, his status came to light and a firestorm surrounding him ensued. Kennedy Jr. to debate Fauci and NFL tight end Travis Kelce over vaccines.Kelce took part in commercials promoting Pfizer COVID vaccines. Some looked to move off of players, while others were stacking their roster for a postseason run.There were a total of 15 moves made and finalized between the five teams on the day of the deadline, Aug. 3. There were a total of 22 transactions dating back to July 10. Here are all of the transactions and trades completed involving the San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Angels, San Diego Padres and the Athletics.San Francisco GiantsIt appears a rebuild is imminent in the Bay Area. The Giants were long rumored to want to shed some of their expensive contracts. Players wanted a chance to win somewhere and deserve that shot after a poor season in San Francisco. The Giants dealt infielder Luis Arraez and right-hand pitcher Caleb Kilian to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for a couple of right-handed pitchers: Ramon Marquez and Marty Gair.They sent left-hand pitcher Robbie Ray to the Padres in an in-state trade that got them right-hand pitcher Miguel Mendez and infielder Joniel Hernandez in return. San Francisco sent outfielder Heliot Ramos across the country to play for the New York Yankees. In return, the Giants received left-hand pitcher Henry Lalane and shortstop Kaeden Kent.For the second consecutive year, the Giants did business with the Boston Red Sox. San Francisco got infielder Marcelo Mayer after sending left-hand pitcher Erik Miller to Boston.The Giants swapped right-hand pitchers with the Atlanta Braves. Danny Silva isn't sure what his future holds inside or out of the cage.The UFC featherweight was simply going through his usual training routine, but knew something was wrong. Silva (11-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) said he decided to push through as he often does, but things quickly became more concerning when he discovered swelling on his neck and chest. According to Silva, a friend told him to go to the emergency room to get checked out. Heeding that advice may have saved Silva's life. Multiple blood clots and a pulmonary embolism were discovered. Silva said his hospital stay lasted three days, and although he's home now, there are still questions to be answered. It was just a few months ago at UFC Fight Night 270 in London when Silva last competed. He faced Kurtis Campbell and won that fight by TKO in the second round to pull off an upset and bounce back from the first loss of his UFC run. While he didn't have another fight on the books just yet, now he wonders when, if ever, that may come but he says he will keep fighting to continue his career.Silva detailed the scary medical emergency in a lengthy Instagram post. I pushed through like every fighter does.Friday I sparred, did my sprints, and my team thought I looked good. I didnt want to make excuses, but I mentioned that my left arm was hurting and my rib was hurting. My team helped with cupping and scraping.That same night I went for a run at 8 p.m. I did 3 miles. On the 3rd mile, my body was shutting down. I pushed because I wont quit on myself, and 3 miles should be nothing.I got home, and there was swelling on the left side of my neck and pec. A good doctor friend of mine recommended I go to the ER to make sure I wasnt having a heart attack.After 9 hours in the ER, doing EKGs and CT scans, they came back with some bad news. I had multiple blood clots. They found a massive thrombosis in a vein in my neck, and part of the clot had broken off and traveled to my lung, causing a pulmonary embolism. This news has changed my life. Spending 3 nights in the hospital was awful.The fact that I was still sparring and in such good shape just tells me how tough I can be in the face of adversity. Because Im in such good shape I was able to survive. They told me 50% of people dont make it. The fact that I was training, sparring, and pushing myself may have saved my life.But right now theres still so much I dont know. Im finally out of the hospital, but I have to be on medication for a couple of months. This isnt the first time Ive had a setback.My worst enemy has always been me. My mind is strong. It sucks when something out of your control tries to take you away from your dream.I wont give up. Id rather die trying, as bad as that sounds, especially because I was close to dying.Before that, I want to say thank you to everyone who took care of me during this hard time. My nurses and doctors were incredible, and Im beyond grateful for the care I received. To my friends and family who showed up, stayed with me, and never left my sideI felt all the love.
