Jordan FA president Prince Ali bin Hussein has accused Fifa president Gianni Infantino of blackmail after his foiled plans to sell stakes in the World Cup. Infantino was forced to abandon his plans namely to sell stakes in the World Cup and other Fifa tournaments to private investors after public uproar last week. European footballs governing body Uefa even confirmed a boycott of the World Cup and other Fifa competitions, saying its member nations would not take part if Infantinos plan was voted through. The Asian Football Confederation and Concacaf, which represents 41 nations from North and Central America and the Caribbean, backed Uefa in their stance.Now, a few days on and with the FA set to withdraw their support for Infantinos re-election next year, Prince Ali who lost to Infantino in the 2016 presidential election has accused the Fifa president of creating a situation which amounts to blackmail. We pride ourselves in Jordan in upholding ethical values, he posted on X. We did not endorse him before and certainly will not now. But the whole situation amounts to blackmail and we refuse to give in to that.Fifa is aware of Prince Alis comments and has so far declined to respond.Detailing the myriad of problems Fifa have faced over the last few months, Prince Ali detailed: There is no shortage of issues regarding Fifa. Let me start by clarifying what some of these are from an FA perspective, in particular that of Jordan going into a World Cup for the first time. We are a small country with a minimal budget for our FA and had to deal with enormous hurdles. First, getting our fans into the USA: not all were granted VISAS, even though they had tickets -which we also know were sold at exorbitant prices. Secondly, we are being taxed by the US govt through Fifa for our participation. Money that should go to players and staff. This was not the case for those who played and set up camp in Canada and Mexico. But we happened to be in the USA, so now we face these huge costs in taxes for having participated. It's a busy year for Drew Brees -- after being inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday, the legendary New Orleans Saints quarterback will be lending his analysis to NFL broadcasts every week throughout the 2026 season. On Tuesday, FOX Sports announced that Brees will be back in the booth with Adam Amin.Brees replaced Mark Sanchez midway through last season after the former NFL quarterback was arrested in Indianapolis. He did a solid job filling in on FOX broadcasts down the stretch, and now he's back for more. One of the places that can seat as many fans as the home of the Buckeyes is Penn States Beaver Stadium. Even though Ive never been to Happy Valley for a tilt between the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions, I have driven through State College and seen the size of the stadium. After hearing some of the noise the fans there make while watching games on television, I can only imagine just how loud it can get when Penn State welcomes a big opponent into town, especially at night.For any visitors coming to town to play the Nittany Lions, just getting to State College can be exhausting. It truly is in the middle of nowhere, and its a hassle to get to. Luckily, I havent had to go through State College when a game was going on, but I have heard from other fans and writers just how miserable it can be to get there, especially on a game day. Also, being in a smaller city, it cant be a big secret where any visiting teams are staying, which could make things tough the night before as Penn States opponents are trying to get some rest before taking on the Nittany Lions.As much as Ohio State vs. Michigan is one of the most heated rivalries in sports, Penn State fans actually scare me a lot more than Michigan fans. I find fans of the Wolverines relatively harmless, as they are a lot of bark and not much bite. The same cant be said about Nittany Lions fans, who I think are crazy. Hearing stories in the past about some of the treatment Ohio State fans, and even the band, have received from Penn State fans doesnt make me want to see a game at Beaver Stadium any time soon.Then there is how tough Penn State plays Ohio State in State College. Since 2000, the Nittany Lions have beaten the Buckeyes three times, and there have been a ton of close calls. Its pretty rare that games between the two teams are decided by more than two touchdowns, with the majority of them staying within a touchdown. One thing is for sure: Ohio State knows they are in for a tough fight whenever they head to the home of the Nittany Lions.Matts pick: Tiger StadiumThere are plenty of intimidating venues throughout college football, including Beaver Stadium, as Brett mentioned, especially on White Out Saturdays. Of course, Autzen Stadium is louder than a stadium of its size has any reasonable right to be. Michigan Stadium carries unmatched emotional weight for Ohio State, even if its enormous bowl does not always trap noise as effectively as some smaller buildings. Kyle Field regularly packs in more than 100,000 fans, while places like Neyland Stadium, Bryant-Denny Stadium, and Oklahomas Memorial Stadium can become incredibly hostile when their teams are playing well.However, with all due respect to our beloved Horseshoe, for my money, the most consistently daunting venue in college football is LSUs Tiger Stadium especially on a Saturday night.While Clemson has their nice little traditions of bussing from one side of the stadium to the other, touching a rock, and trying not to fall running down a grass hill, there is only one Death Valley in college football, and it is in Baton Rouge. There is something different about the real Death Valley after dark. It is not simply the number of people in the stadium or the volume they produce. It is the combination of the heat, humidity, noise, alcohol, pageantry, and Louisiana weirdness that makes the entire experience feel slightly unhinged. Having lived in the Southeast for two decades now, I have experienced firsthand just how debauched and degenerate LSU fans can be on a normal day, just living their lives. Throw in a night SEC football game, and enough alcohol to get an entire frat house hung over, and you just know things are going to go off the rails. By the time kickoff arrives, LSU fans have often been preparing for the game for the better part of the day, and the visiting team is stepping into an environment that feels less like a football stadium and more like a pressure cooker where the pressure is supplied by the largest collection of drunken bayou hillbillies this side of a Duck Dynasty fan convention. That is ultimately what makes a venue truly daunting. Sure, a loud crowd can cause false starts, interfere with communication, and force an offense to simplify its play-calling. But the best home environments also make opponents feel rushed and uncomfortable before anything has actually gone wrong. One early mistake becomes two, the crowd grows louder, and suddenly a visiting team is simply trying to survive rather than playing the way it normally does.Perhaps it is because Ohio State does not regularly travel to Baton Rouge that Tiger Stadium maintains some of its mystique for me. We have seen the Buckeyes win at Beaver Stadium, in the Big House, at Autzen and Husky Stadiums, so even the most hostile of Big Ten venues dont strike much fear in my heart. However, Death Valley still feels like somewhat uncharted territory the type of place where even the most talented Ohio State team could be swallowed up in the enormity of the stadium and the environment.There might be technically louder and larger stadiums, and venues with more personal relevance to Buckeye fans, but if Ohio State had to play a national championship-caliber opponent on the road at night, there is nowhere I would feel more daunted by than Tiger Stadium. So, having said all that, heres hoping OSU and LSU set up a home-and-home in the very near future.

Yahoo Sports will take a relatively short look at each legend and how he reached football immortality.Before Roger Craig, it wasn't unheard of for a running back to also be a dangerous pass catcher. But it was rare. Recent stars like Christian McCaffrey, Marshall Faulk and LaDainian Tomlinson became weapons on handoffs and receptions, and Craig was the model for that. In 1985 Craig had 1,050 rushing yards and 1,012 receiving yards, becoming the first player in NFL history with a 1,000/1,000 season. It wouldn't happen again until Faulk did it in 1999. Jim Brown also did it only once, topping out at 517 yards. O.J. Simpson never had more than 476 in a season.Decades ago, most starting running backs occasionally made plays in the passing game but it wasn't a priority. Niners head coach Bill Walsh, one of the game's greatest innovators, saw it a different way after the 49ers made Craig a second-round draft pick out of Nebraska in 1983.Craig immediately became a big part of the passing game in Walsh's West Coast offense, with 427 receiving yards as a rookie, 675 in his second season as the 49ers won a Super Bowl, then more than 1,000 the year after.Craig was stellar running the ball too. He became the 49ers' starter as a rookie, on a team that went 10-6 and lost in the NFC championship game. He rushed for 8,189 career yards with a great mix of athleticism and toughness. His final three seasons with the Vikings and Raiders were forgettable.But Craig had plenty working in his favor too. He was a big part of three Super Bowl championship teams. He had three touchdowns in Super Bowl XIX (two of those touchdowns came as a receiver), his 40-yard catch to start the fourth quarter was huge in the 49ers' comeback win over the Bengals in Super Bowl XXIII and he had 288 yards and three touchdowns in the playoffs a year later on the way to another title.Craig was first eligible for the Hall of Fame in 1999 and was a semifinalist 10 times before moving on for consideration in the seniors category. But, the Chicago Bears had what one beat reporter characterized as their sloppiest offensive outing at practice this training camp in practice #6. There was also a bit of a scare when Luther Burden was involved in a three player collision and was slow to get up. That said, there were still some offensive highlights and some defenders who shined today. Lets get into it.Dan Wiederer of The Athletic noted the offensive struggles included Pre-snap penalties. Misfired passes. Dropped balls. Rickety screen plays. QB1s feet getting tangled coming out from center. He also noted the offense failed in its end-of-game situation reps.As noted above, Luther Burden had a collision in the end zone during this situational drill. Zach Pearson of the BearReport described it this way, on the final play for the first team offense in a situation drill, Luther Burden took a bit (sic) on a collision in the end zone. Looked like Devin Bush hit him hard. Burden was slow to get up. Tyrique Stevenson walked with him to the sideline. He also indicated Rome Odunze had some words for the defense after the play. Still, Pearson also stated that Burden appeared to be okay after the hit and was moving around on the sideline.Nicholas Moreano of REKAP & BearsRTB said it was defensive back Anthony Johnson Jr. who made contact with Burden in the back. But he also agreed that Burden was OK in the end.Courtney Cronin (ESPN) also reported on the Burden hit, suggesting he got blown up pretty good at the goal line trying to catch a pass on the final plays of the 2MD. Slow to get up but walked off the field under his own power flanked by Caleb Williams and Tyrique Stephenson.Mark Carman agreed with Wiederers assessment that the offense was off in his top three takeaways. Noted multiple penalties, incompletions. Ball was sailing. Fresh off her disappointing loss at Wimbledon, the number one women's tennis player in the world is speaking out in favor of her sport's new policy that will require all competitors on tour to have their DNA tested. Aryna Sabalenka was asked by reporters in Toronto on Monday about the new World Tennis Association policy that went into effect last month. "I think it's really important to keep the fairness in our tour," said Sabalenka, in responding to the last question of the news conference. "It's obviously, biologically, the men are way stronger than women, so I feel like it would be not really fair for the woman to compete against biological man."Sabalenka, who is Belarusian but competes neutrally, has never disclosed her sexual orientation or gender identity. She told reporters she supports the policy. "I believe it took them a little while to make this decision and, yeah, I support it," said Sabalenka. "But for me, I'm focusing on myself, on my goals, you know, whatever it takes. If they want to test us all, I'm happy to do that; it's pretty fair, and let's keep it that way."As ESPN reported, the policy established on July 21 is for all women on tour to undergo a one-time, mandatory genetic test for the SRY gene, a segment of DNA typically found on the Y chromosome, which initiates male sex development in a fetus and indicates the presence of testes. However, studies have shown some women can also have a Y chromosome and still look, feel and live as women. "Any athlete whose test shows the presence of the SRY gene will be banned from competing in the womens category in elite events," reported genetic researcher Andrew Sinclair. "However if the athlete has a condition called Complete Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (CAIS), they may be able to qualify for an exemption." Players can also appeal the results. This isn't Sabalenka's first comments on the issue of trans inclusion. She shared her thoughts on trans women athletes with UK television personality Piers Morgan back in December 2025: "It's not fair," she said. "The woman has been working her whole life to reach her limit, and then she has to face a man, who is biologically much stronger, so for me, I don't agree with this kind of stuff in sport." Sabalenka's new remarks came exactly one year to the day that Sinclair, the researcher credited with discovering the gene, spoke out against genetic testing."I argue the science does not support this overly simplistic assertion," wrote Sinclair in theconversation.com on August 3, 2025. "I should know, because I discovered the SRY gene on the human Y chromosome in 1990. For 35 years I have been researching it and other genes required for testis development."Sinclair wrote that biological sex is more complex than the WTA claims. "Using SRY to establish biological sex is wrong because all it tells you is whether or not the gene is present. It does not tell you how SRY is functioning, whether a testis has formed, whether testosterone is produced and, if so, whether it can be used by the body."Tennis icon and opponent of transgender inclusion in sports, Martina Navratilova, posted her support for the policy on X the day before it went into effect.
