Ever since reports came out about FIFAs plan to sell stakes in their premier competitions to private investors, the soccer world has been up in arms.This isnt great for Infantino, who is up for re-election in 2027. Already, FAs around the world are withdrawing their support for his presidency, and his future prospects are looking bleak.FIFA has been forced to backtrack on their FFE proposal, too. Now, there finally is one.Sky Sports correspondent Rob Harris shared a leaked letter, which has been seemingly signed by Infantino as well as Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom. It includes an acknowledgment that mistakes were made.We accept that mistakes were made in the process of the proposed establishment of FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), the letter states. We acknowledge that errors were also made after the proposal was leaked to the media.We sincerely apologise for these errors and commit to them not happening again. With this in mind, we will conduct a necessary review, and a report will be presented to the FIFA Council at its next scheduled meeting.While there is an acceptance of mistakes being made, the letter doesnt take accountability for any particular ones. And considering the outrage over this issue, it might be too little, too late for Infantino.Letter states FFE plan is being withdrawn, asks for attacks against FIFA to stopThe plan to have an organisation with private investors to run the World Cup was never going to sit well with soccer fans. They seem to have realised that, as the letter also states that it will be withdrawn.And in announcing that, the FIFA hierarchy has also boldly stated that they will no longer tolerate attacks regarding their integrity.With the project withdrawn, FIFA will no longer tolerate any attacks on its integrity, good governance and due process and will take all necessary measures to protect and safeguard its name and reputation.Its a bit rich to accept that mistakes were made while threatening those that criticise them. The University of Wolverhampton has praised three former students who won medals at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.Judo athletes Acelya Toprak and Kelly Petersen-Pollard claimed gold in their categories, with fellow graduate and Olympian Katie-Jemima Yeats-Brown securing bronze, prompting university celebrations.The England trio are graduates of the university's Sport and Exercise Science programme."To see three of our graduates reach the podium at a major international sporting event is an incredible achievement and reflects the quality, dedication and resilience they have demonstrated throughout their careers," Ross Cloak, from the university, said.Toprak won gold in the under-57kg category, with Petersen-Pollard triumphing in the under-70kg division and Katie Yeats-Brown claimed third spot on the podium in the under-63kg category. Of course, there are plenty of perks from being a program like Ohio State, but there are still some drawbacks as well.One of the biggest catches of being a contending team every year is the brain drain off of your staff after each season. The Buckeyes have been no stranger to that in recent years. Following the national title in 2024, offensive coordinator Chip Kelly made the leap back to the NFL. Following the 2025 season, Brian Hartline took the job as the new head coach at South Florida. Defensive coordinator Jim Knowles also departed after the 2024 season and was replaced by Matt Patricia.Its difficult for any team to replace elite assistant coaches at any time, especially year after year, but Day has become a pro at it. He recently revealed a lesson form former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer about the mindset of replacing great coaches on the Buckeyes staff, via On3 Sports.Watch sports LIVE with fuboTV (free trial)When youre at Ohio State you get to go hire the best, Day said. I remember one of my first recruiting meetings, I was the quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator and Urban Meyer was the head coach here. And we walked in and the recruit and the family says, Well, we really like coach Day, but what happens if he leaves?I thought coach was going to say, Hes going to be here for a long time, you dont need to worry about that. He just said, Well just go get the next best guy out there.'Recently, Day and the Buckeyes have gone the NFL route to replace those coaches. Patricia was an example of that, and it has been a great hire so far. Ohio State went that route once again this offseason, as it hired former NFL head coach Arthur Smith to replace Hartline as the offensive coordinator.Smith had his ups and downs as a play-caller in the NFL, but he will bring a bit of a different look and a pro feel to Columbus.
