Barcelona prepared for the new season with a training camp in England [Getty Images]Barcelona have cancelled a pre-season friendly in Morocco because of the ongoing border crisis in Ceuta.The Spanish champions were set to face local side Ittihad Riadi Tangier in north-western Morocco on 15 August as part of their preparations for the new campaign. "In light of the current uncertainty and circumstances, FC Barcelona considers playing the match would be inappropriate," said the club in a statement. While the club did not specify the reason for the cancellation, BBC Sport understands the decision is linked to the situation in Ceuta, the Spanish enclave that borders Morocco on the North African coast.About 78,000 migrants crossed into the Spanish territory from Morocco by sea last week, resulting in 100 deaths and sparking tensions among EU nations who share open borders.While a large majority of the migrants have since returned to Morocco, between 3,000 and 5,000 still remain in Ceuta. Italy had suspended its Schengen arrangement with Spain, backed by Finland and Denmark, while the Czech Republic called for Spain's membership to be temporarily suspended. Five men Drew Brees, Roger Craig, Luke Kuechly, Larry Fitzgerald and Adam Vinatieri will be formally enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday in Canton, Ohio. Yahoo Sports will take a relatively short look at each legend and how he reached football immortality.Adam Vinatieri made 599 regular-season field goals in his career, the most in NFL history. But four made field goals in the playoffs might have been the difference in him making it to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.Vinatieri's career spanned more than two decades and it's remembered mostly for the biggest few moments. Vinatieri won two Super Bowls with field goals in the final seconds, and neither one was his greatest kick. His greatest kick came in the "Tuck Rule" game, sending a memorable playoff game between the Patriots and Raiders to overtime. Vinatieri accounts for two of those.In Super Bowl XXXVI, Vinatieri hit a game-winner as time expired to finish the Patriots' massive upset of the Rams. It's still the only field goal to win a Super Bowl with no time left on the clock. Two years later, Vinatieri hit a field goal on the second-to-last play of Super Bowl XXXVIII to beat the Panthers.Those kicks are the highlights. But his career was much more than that. He set the NFL record for points in the regular season and his 238 postseason points are another league record. He was a part of four Super Bowl championship teams, three with New England and one with Indianapolis.He was a pretty good athlete as well; the clip of him running down Herschel Walker on a kickoff return as a rookie in 1996 is famous.Vinatieri was already immortalized due to some of the biggest kicks in NFL history. Now he'll also be remembered forever as a Hall of Famer.

The Pittsburgh Steelers appear to have avoided a significant setback with their first-round NFL draft pick.Coach Mike McCarthy told reporters that offensive tackle Max Iheanachor is OK after leaving practice with an apparent injury Aug. 6 at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. McCarthy expects the rookie to return to practice on Monday.Trainers were seen working on Iheanachors arm and shoulder area before he left to go to the locker room. For the second time in less than a week, and the third time in less than four months, the compensation market for NFL running backs has been reset, giving a big jolt of new energy to a long-overlooked position.The Lions agreed to a three-year contract extension with running back Jahmyr Gibbs worth up to $75.75 million that includes $51.5 million in guaranteed money and makes him the NFLs highest paid player ever at that position. Just two days earlier, that status had been with the Falcons Bijan Robinson, who signed a three-year deal worth up to $75 million with $51 million guaranteed.The Gibbs and Robinson deals, meanwhile, highlight a larger push toward running backs gaining considerably larger contracts. The Colts Jonathan Taylor signed a two-year, $44 million deal on Thursday, with $39 million of that guaranteed, while earlier in the offseason, other stars such as the Chiefs Kenneth Walker III and the Dolphins DeVon Achane signed lucrative new deals.Each of these veteran deals, meanwhile, were influenced in part by Cardinals rookie Jeremiyah Love, the No. 3 pick in Aprils NFL Draft, who immediately reset the running back market with a four-year, $53 million contract, with all of that guaranteed.While Love still has the most guaranteed money at the position, the average annual value of $22.5 million in the Gibbs deal sets a new standard in that metric.As the NFL has shifted to a more passing-centric focus over the past decade, running backs were increasingly left out of the leagues rising fiscal tide. As recently as three years ago, running backs, on average, had fallen to among the lowest paid positions in the entire league.That is now quickly changing as many teams are finding ways to use running backs in a wider variety of formations, and are allocating more money to the position. After previously averaging better than only fullbacks and long snappers in annual salary, running backs are now clustered closely with kickers, tight ends, and safeties.The top end of the market for running backs, meanwhile, is now moving into an NFL top-100 list traditionally populated by quarterbacks, wide receivers, and top linemen and edge rushers.We felt like Gibbs, man, this guy is going to explode, Lions coach Dan Campbell said at the league meetings earlier this year. Like, yes, hes a runner. He can run all schemes. He can run inside, outside, pin and pull, the perimeters. But he also can be lethal out of the backfield, and were not even there yet. We feel like this guy can play some receiver. We tried to tinker with some stuff last year. He really grew, but I think were just scratching the surface on some of that. Hes a mismatch piece, man.Rising EconomicsThe other key element in the new run of historic running back deals, of course, is the NFLs salary cap, which reached a record $301.2 million for the 2026 season.Since training camps opened last month, there have been a run of record-setting contracts signed involving several different positions and more guaranteed money. Dak Prescott is one of the few athletes who routinely crosses over between being overrated and underrated, depending who youre listening to. Not many NFL quarterbacks get more attention than Prescott. Thats what happens when youre the face of the Dallas Cowboys. When the Cowboys lose in the playoffs, its all Prescotts fault. When the Cowboys win, Dallas fans will let you know how good he is. The NFLs annual top 100 list is flawed in many ways, and Prescott made his appearance on the list at No. 31. Thats a leap of 48 spots from last year. Hes ahead of some quarterbacks who have had bigger seasons and better careers. His ranking will have some saying hes too high, and others saying hes too low. That should make Cowboys owner Jerry Jones feel better, considering Prescott is the second-highest paid quarterback in the NFL behind only Patrick Mahomes. Here are some of the quarterbacks Prescott ranks ahead of: Jared Goff (33), Justin Herbert (39), Joe Burrow (44), Caleb Williams (51), Jalen Hurts (56), Bo Nix (59), Trevor Lawrence (62) and Lamar Jackson (69). Yes, for those that arent aware, two-time MVP Jackson was ranked 69th. It appears that the quarterbacks ahead of Prescott are Josh Allen, Matthew Stafford, Patrick Mahomes and Drake Maye. Three of those players have won NFL MVP and Maye finished one vote away last season. If its Allen, Stafford, Mahomes and Maye in the top 30, that would make Prescott a top-five quarterback on the list. Prescott being ahead of Burrow and Herbert is debatable. Hes far ahead of two-time MVP Jackson and Super Bowl MVP Hurts. Its a lofty ranking. How are non-Cowboys fans feeling about that? Will Prescott have a big season? Prescott is coming off a very good season, one in which he played well and the rest of the Cowboys let him down. For some, Prescott wont get his just due until he takes Dallas to at least the NFC championship game. Theres hope in Dallas this season. The Cowboys are talking about a Super Bowl way more than youd ever expect from a team that was 7-9-1 last season. Its questionable if he should be ranked ahead of Burrow, who most NFL teams would prefer and has made a Super Bowl, or someone like Herbert, who has put up big numbers even in less-than-ideal circumstances. Prescott has had a good career, though ultimately not satisfying in terms of postseason success. He can change how hes viewed with one huge season and a long playoff run. Thats possible for him and the Cowboys this season. "Some good things are happening," Prescott said about the progress of the teams offense in camp, via the teams site.If Prescott does finally have that big season, he wont need to worry about his ranking rising again next year.

Yaxel Lendeborg has had a busy summer since being drafted by the Golden State Warriors. After winning the national championship at Michigan, Lendeborg was drafted No. 11 overall by the Warriors. Lendeborg wasted no time making a strong first impression with the Warriors, winning Summer League Most Valuable Player while leading Golden State to its first Summer League championship since 2013. Following an impressive start to the summer, Lendeborg is already back on the court. Lendeborg has been in the gym, working on his game, but recently made a return to one of his home courts in New Jersey. Lendeborg recently made an appearance at a local court in Pennsauken Township, New Jersey. Lendeborg played his high school hoops at Pennsauken High School. Lendeborg wasn't the only first-round pick on the court in New Jersey. Lendeborg was joined by new Philadelphia 76ers guard Labaron Philon. Philon is from Mobile, Alabama and played in college for the Crimson Tide, but joined Lendeborg on the court in New Jersey.
