The 2026 NFL season officially kicked off with the Hall of Fame Game on Friday, and in rare fashion for early preseason action, provided fans with plenty to get excited about. Arizona Cardinalsrookie quarterback Carson Beck put on a passing clinic, while fellow rookie signal-caller Haynes King was electric and scored a game-winning touchdown for the Carolina Panthers. Michael Zerafa, Teremoana Teremoana headline Down UnderYou know what us party animals are like over at Uncrowned the weekend never ends.So much so, Ive taken the executive decision to extend it to Wednesday, and more specifically to Australias sunny Gold Coast.There we find wrecking-ball heavyweight Teremoana Teremoana (like Nigerian soccer player Jay-Jay Okocha, so good they named him twice) looking to extend his perfect 11-0 (11 KOs) record against American DeAndre Savage (11-1, 11 KOs).Teremoana has been using the build-up to fight week to call out a whos who of heavyweight contenders, and with Matchroom losing the heavyweight war to Queensberrys stacked stable, the big Aussie may well get his wish in getting fast-tracked to the upper-echelons of the division.Pretty Boy Michael Zerafa (34-5, 22 KOs) is in middleweight action against Venezuelas Alejandro Ortiz (26-1, 25 KOs) in the co-main event, returning for the first time since his bizarre No Contest outing against Nikita Tszyu where its safe to say he didnt win any fans.

Tennessee men's basketball has added another exhibition game to its preseason schedule. The Vols will host Xavier on Oct. 15 at Food City Center, the program announced on Aug. 7.Tip-off time and any television details and ticketing options against Xavier will be announced at a later date.This scrimmage against Xavier will mark the unofficial start of basketball season and a challenging out of conference schedule for the Vols. Five days later, they will travel to Durham, North Carolina, to take on Duke in an exhibition ahead of the start of the regular season.The Vols are 12-5 all-time against Xavier and 7-1 at home, but these two programs haven't met since the 2013-14 season. The Vols opened that campaign with a 67-64 loss to the Musketeers on the road, but avenged the defeat less than three weeks later with a 15-point win in the second round of the 2013 Battle 4 Atlantis.Xavier went 15-18 and finished 10th in the Big East last season, its first year under the direction of coach Richard Pitino, the son of St. John's coach Rick Pitino. He remade the roster with seven transfers and three high school signees this offseason.Meanwhile, the Vols have national championship aspirations after assembling the sport's second-best transfer class, according to 247Sports. Guards Juke Harris and Terrence Hill Jr. headline the nine-player strong group of incoming transfers that will make up the bulk of the Vols' rotation this season.The Vols finalized their roster with the addition of Vanderbilt transfer Jalen Washington on Aug. 5.Tennessee will play a 14-game nonconference schedule beginning at home against Wofford on Nov. 3 and their first real test of the regular season will come on Nov. 15 when Michigan State visits Knoxville.The Vols will participate in the Players Era Tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada, the week of Thanksgiving, but three of their remaining four nonconference games against power conference opponents will be played in Tennessee. As the training camp grind continues, several Denver Broncos players have stood out. The Broncos are entering Day 7 of full-speed practice on Friday, with seven more training camp practices on deck this month. They'll have a scrimmage-like practice on Saturday, followed by their preseason opener next week. Denver has three total preseason games on deck in August before the deadline to submit a 53-man roster later this month.With position battles heating up and live-game action right around the corner, we're taking a quick look at six standouts through the first week of training camp, with a mix of big names and under-the-radar sleepers. 6 standouts at Broncos training camp 1. WR Jaylen Waddle: The veteran receiver is currently dinged up with some muscle tightness, but he's expected to be fine. He instantly turned heads as soon as camp started and has drawn praise from coaches and teammates. Denver coach Sean Payton has even hinted fans should draft Waddle in their fantasy football leagues. Waddle could be headed for a big year with his new club. 2. DE Eyioma Uwazurike: Following the departure of John Franklin-Myers during NFL free agency, Uwazurike has an opportunity to compete for a starting job this summer, and he's taking advantage of it. "He can't be blocked," defensive lineman D.J. Jones said of Uwazurike earlier this week. "He's a man, he's a grown man." Uwazurike will be a key player to watch during preseason. 3. WR Pat Bryant: Courtland Sutton and Waddle are the team's top two receivers. The third spot is up for grabs, and Bryant seems to be a top contender. "[Im] really pleased with how hes doing," Payton said of Bryant. "Hes just one of those congested ball catchers. ... Hes extremely smart. Hes doing really well. Payton insists the Broncos do not have a traditional WR1, WR2, WR3 format, but for fantasy football purposes, it's looking like Bryant could be the unofficial WR3.4. CB/PR Shaun Fresch: The former UFL star stood out early in camp with an impressive interception, but it's his potential as a returner that could be a big storyline during preseason. Fresch returned 32 punts in the UFL this spring, and he'sclearly comfortable in the role. Other returners to watch in preseason are undrafted receivers Cam Ross and Kolbe Katsis.5. CB Riley Moss: He's not giving up the CB2 job. Moss continues to play well across from Pat Surtain, so much so that 2025 first-round draft pick Jahdae Barron could be looking at another season in a rotational backup role. "He competes his tail off," Payton said of Moss. "I love that about him. ... Hes moving around really well right now.6. RB Jonah Coleman: When asked if there's been any pleasant surprises this summer, Payton name-dropped Coleman. "I think the young runner, you dont feel a rookie with Jonah," Payton said. "Hes playing." Coleman could get a big opportunity in preseason as the Broncos won't overwork J.K. Dobbins or RJ Harvey in August. Coleman seems to be an obvious favorite for RB3 duties in 2026. Denver's scheduled to practice again on Saturday before a day off on Sunday. The Broncos will have three practices next week leading up to an Aug. 14 preseason opener on the road against the Atlanta Falcons.
