WWW.FOXSPORTS.COM2026 College Football Odds: Bettors Love Oregon, OSU In 'Top-Heavy' Big TenIn the years before Oregon joined the Big Ten, the football program was regularly a force in the Pac-12 and often a national championship contender. But when the Ducks took flight for the conference in 2024, bettors didnt follow along. That seems to be changing in the 2026 Big Ten futures odds market. "One thing that seems different from previous years is that usually there are no Oregon believers. But right now, Oregon is leading in money bet for this season," Caesars Sports head of football trading Joey Feazel said. "Thats the big takeaway at the moment. Theres more Oregon love." Feazel helps break down where things stand in Big Ten football championship odds, with the start of the season just a month away. This page may contain affiliate links to legal sports betting partners. If you sign up or place a wager, FOX Sports may be compensated. Read more about Sports Betting on FOX Sports. LIFE'S GREAT AT OHIO STATE Yes, Indiana is the defending Big Ten and national champion. Its a great rsum to bring into the 2025-26 season. But the consensus among oddsmakers is that Ohio State is again the best team. The Buckeyes are +575 favorites to win the College Football Playoff, so of course, Caesars has the Buckeyes favored in Big Ten football futures. Still, its close, with Ohio State at +175, Indiana at +240 and Oregon +260. "Ohio State is leading in tickets, and Oregon is right behind," Feazel said of action on Big Ten odds. "I think Ohio State in the past five years has just been dominant. From that aspect and coaching and talent aspects, theyre clearly the team to beat." That said, a big early test looms. In Week 2, on Sept. 12, the Buckeyes travel to Austin for a huge prime-time showdown vs. Texas. "Thatll be one of the biggest-bet games of the year," Feazel said. Granted, that matchup doesnt impact Big Ten standings, but it could very well impact Big Ten futures odds, depending on how Ohio State shows out. GIVING CHASE Coach Curt Cignetti and Indiana hope to prove last seasons Big Ten and national championship runs were no fluke. Feazel has certainly become a believer after Cignettis first two years with the Hoosiers. "I started out being a Cignetti doubter, but he has clearly proven everybody wrong," Feazel said. "Until we see otherwise, we expect them to be the second-best team in the conference." Hence, Indiana being the +240 second choice in Big Ten futures odds. But bettors arent fully on board yet, with the Hoosiers trailing not only Ohio State and Oregon in tickets but also Michigan and USC. Right behind Indiana in Big Ten futures odds is Oregon. Then theres some separation, with USC and Michigan listed as the +1200 co-fourth choice. Feazel doesnt believe anyone beyond those first five will make waves this season. "The thing with the Big Ten is its just so top-heavy," Feazel said. "Its hard to see any other team pushing through. I think youre gonna see one of those top-five schools win it." VALUE PLAY If thats indeed the case, then perhaps theres some value in wagering on the Trojans or the Wolverines. Unlike Oregon, USC has been popular each of its first two years in the Big Ten and continues to attract action ahead of the 2026 season. "Year after year, theyre betting on USC. That might be a regional situation, because were taking a lot of USC action in Nevada," Feazel said. "Michigan has big changes, with a new coach (Kyle Whittingham). But its still Michigan at the end, so we dont want to count them out. "I think both those teams have the potential to break out this season." NOT-SO-HAPPY VALLEY? Penn State also has big changes, after imploding during the 2025 season. The Nittany Lions were 3-0 heading into a huge home game vs. Oregon, then lost that matchup 30-24 in double overtime. That triggered a six-game losing streak, during which coach James Franklin was fired. In December, Matt Campbell left his post at Iowa State to become Penn States coach. The Nittany Lions are the +1800 sixth choice in odds to win the Big Ten. And so far, bettors arent buying in. "Theres not much support behind the Nittany Lions," Feazel said. "Its gonna be an uphill battle, but I wouldnt count out that program. Im just not sold that its gonna be this year."0 Comments 0 Shares 90 Views 0 Reviews -
SPORTS.YAHOO.COMAuburn football takeaways, observations from fall camp Saturday practiceAUBURN In closing its first week of preseason pads, Auburn football finally put on pads Saturday, Aug. 8, for its latest practice at the Woltosz Football Performance Center. The Tigers are a little less than a month out from the beginning of the 2026 campaign, their first under new head coach Alex Golesh. Here's three takeaways from Saturday's practice, including a pair of notable absences and rotation breakdowns.Auburn football had two notable absences at Saturday's practiceNeither running back Bryson Washington nor defensive lineman Malik Autry were present during the public viewing window of Saturday's practice. Washington, who transferred to Auburn from Baylor this offseason, has been widely viewed as a candidate to follow Jeremiah Cobb in Auburn's stable of backs. However, his condition has been a topic of conservations since the end of spring."We've been hard on him and the demand in this offense is hard," Golesh said of Washington in Tampa. "Like, there's not a whole lot of time in between plays to catch your breath and figure out what's going on. You've got to be in elite shape."Autry, a former five-star prospect and rising sophomore, is among the program's competitors for a starting spot on the defensive line.Auburn football's offensive line designations look clearerThe position group broke into two groups early in the viewing window, with a collection of linemen hitting an individual sled indoors. It didn't include Jo Simmons or Stanton Ramil, giving it the appearance of Auburn's interior offensive line.It included the names most know, such as Cole Best, Cole Skinner and Deryc Plazz. Among the other players with the group: Bear McWhorter, Jacobe' Ward, Kail Ellis, Kenneth McManus IV, Mason Mathis and Mykall Lundy-Foster.Here's who was first up in Auburn football's pass-catching orderQuarterbacks, wide receivers and tight ends worked through routes and passing drills, with little surprise in the group's first and following rotations.Chas Nimrod and Keshaun Singleton were Auburn's first wide receivers up, and Jake Johnson was the first tight end. Following them was Arlis Boardingham at tight end, and DeShawn Spencer and Sam Turner at receiver.Turner's presence so high up was new. The rising sophomore didn't record a stat last fall.Adam Cole is the Auburn athletics beat writer for the Montgomery Advertiser. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMSeahawks QB Sam Darnold is "middle of the road" according to Bleacher ReportSeattle Seahawks star Sam Darnold is preparing to play in his second season with the team in 2026 after a hot two-year stretch in the NFL, and his profile as a high-end quarterback in the league is as high as its ever been in his career.Bleacher Report ranked Darnold No. 15 overall in their evaluation of the top quarterbacks for the 2026 NFL season, placing him in their high-quality starter category.Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence (No. 12), Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams (No. 13) and Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (No. 14) were all ranked ahead of Darnold in the same category. Trevor Lawrence was an AP MVP finalist last season. Williams was one of the biggest emergent stars of the year, and Hurts had a successful season in 2025, having led the Eagles to an NFC East title win.Nevertheless, Darnold got the better of them all with a Super Bowl victory at the end of last season, and threw for over 4,000 yards for the second straight year. He has the 2026 season to put together another prolific season in the passing yards department and improve his standing among the best players at the position. This article originally appeared on Seahawks Wire: Seahawks QB Sam Darnold is "middle of the road" according to Bleacher Report0 Comments 0 Shares 110 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMRanking the best live mascots in the SECThe SEC is home to 10 live mascots after welcoming Oklahoma and Texas to the conference in 2024. The conference has some of the most unique traditions and best mascots in all of sports.Four dog mascots represent the most popular type of live mascot in the SEC. The SEC has three teams (Auburn, Missouri and LSU) with Tiger mascots, but LSU is the only one with a live Tiger mascot. Across the conference, most programs established traditions with mascots long ago, but some mascots are more recent. The most memorable mascot moments in SEC history have to be when Texas mascot Bevo attempted to gore Uga at the Sugar Bowl and when Uga lunged and tried to bite Auburn receiver Robert Baker in 1996. Ranking the best live mascots in the SEC10. Sooner Schooner, OklahomaSomeone had to be last. Sooner Schooner is a tongue-twister and started in 1964. The Sooner Schooner became Oklahoma's official mascot in 1980. We like the tradition of the Sooner Schooner and like the horses, but respect is earned in the SEC and we haven't quite warmed up to it yet. Oklahoma's mascot memorably tumbled over in 2019.9. Sir Big Spur, South CarolinaSir Big Spur made his debut in 1999 and attends more than just home football games, which is a nice bonus. We are currently on Sir Big Spur VII, who is Old English Black Breasted Red Fighting Gamecock. Sir Big Spur will appear at events around South Carolina for $500 to $1,000 for 90 minutes. 8. Tusk, ArkansasTusk VI attends every Arkansas football game throughout the year. Tusk I started in 1997, so Tusk is a pretty new tradition.Tusk weighs approximately 350 pounds (we did not ask -- that would be rude). Tusk enjoys a diet of grapes, apples, corn and watermelon. Not a bad mascot by any stretch. Tusk likes to play in mud holes on sunny days. Unfortunately for Arkansas football there have not been many sunny days recently.7. Smokey, TennesseeA Bluetick Coonhound, Smokey has represented Tennessee since 1953. Smokey's a good dog, but wears a mighty ugly shade of orange. The Bluetick Coonhound became Tennessee's official dog breed in 2019.6. Bully, Mississippi StateDak, Bully XXII, is an English Bulldog and is the official Mississippi State mascot. Bully has more brown and less SEC championships than Georgia's mascot, Uga. Let's just say there's a better Bulldog out there.Dak is still considered a Bully, according to Mississippi State. It is a bit confusing.5. Reveille, Texas A&M AggiesAre we ranking Reveille over other dogs in the mascot rankings because Reveille looks very fluffy? Maybe. Reveille is known as the First Lady of Aggieland and Reveille X has been on mascot duty since 2021 after being born in Kansas.4. Bevo, TexasBevo is a Texas Longhorn and has attended Texas football games since 1966. He stars in commercials, but is well-known for attacking (or at least trying to attack) Uga during the the 2020 Sugar Bowl against the Georgia Bulldogs. That is the sort of behavior that gets you docked in the live mascot rankings. Bevo has a long tradition and first appeared at a Texas game in 1916. Bevo XV made his debut in 2016. 3. War Eagle, AuburnAuburn's mascot War Eagle flies on to the field in one of the most unique traditions in all of college football. The Auburn Tigers have struggled on the field in recent years, but having cool traditions and a good atmosphere is not something Auburn struggles with. 2. Uga, GeorgiaOf course we rank Uga as the best dog in our live mascot rankings. Uga is a good boy and is beloved by Georgia fans. Uga is treated as well as any dog in the country. Uga is an English Bulldog that can often be found taking a snooze in his air conditioned dog house on a cold bag of ice. Uga I became the official mascot of the university in 1956 when Sonny Seiler brought his Bulldog to a game. Uga had a bit of a biting incident against Auburn back in the day, but that is all part of Uga's mystique. 1. Mike the Tiger, LSUMike the Tiger is a Bengal Tiger that lives between Tiger Stadium and Pete Maravich Assembly. He lives in a 15,000-square foot environment that includes an oak tree, a waterfall and stream. He's the only living tiger on a college campus and weights between 320-450 pounds. He eats 20 pounds per day of a carnivore diet and 140 pounds weekly. Follow UGA Wire on Instagram, Facebook, X, or Threads for more Georgia coverage! This article originally appeared on UGA Wire: Ranking the best live mascots in the SEC0 Comments 0 Shares 111 Views 0 Reviews
