SPORTS.YAHOO.COMPatchy Mix loses big on scale at RIZIN 54 weigh-insPatchy Mix's post-Bellator career continued trending in the wrong direction Monday as he took another L, this time on the scale. For his bantamweight co-main event vs. Shoko Sato in at RIZIN 54, Mix weighed in at 140.7 pounds (63.85kg) a staggering 6.3 pounds over the limit of 134.4 (61kg). While the fight will go on, Mix is ineligible to earn a victory, per RIZIN rules, which state that an overweight fighter's win will automatically be overturned to a no contest. Also, RIZIN elevated another bout to serve as the co-main event over Mix vs. Sato as a consequence of Mix's weight miss.Patchy Mix weighed in 6.3 lbs over the limit for his 2nd fight with RIZIN this morning. The fight, which is the Co-Main, is still on....but an absolutely brutal weight miss. pic.twitter.com/e5q9XHLBARhttps://t.co/uHlcm4nB10 Spinnin Backfist (@SpinninBackfist) August 10, 2026It's a continued fall from grace for Mix, who as recently as 2024 was discussed by MMA pundits as perhaps being the best bantamweight in the world while he was Bellator champion. But since departing Bellator, which was absorbed by PFL, things have fallen apart. Mix had a chance to make his mark in the UFC but lost his first two octagon appearances to Mario Bautista (unanimous decision) in June 2025 and Jakub Wikacz (split decision) four months later, leading to his abrupt UFC release. Mix made his RIZIN debut at featherweight this past March and lost by second-round TKO to Kyoma Akimoto for his third loss in a row. This article originally appeared on MMA Junkie: Patchy Mix loses big on scale at RIZIN 54 weigh-ins0 Comments 0 Shares 155 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMThey hate her for it Dave Portnoy calls out WNBAs insane disrespect of Caitlin ClarkPhoto by Melissa Tamez/Icon Sportswire via Getty ImagesDave Portnoy has criticised the WNBA after Caitlin Clarks technical foul was rescinded, calling the treatment of the Indiana Fever star insane disrespect.Clark had briefly been handed her eighth technical of the season during Saturdays win over the Chicago Sky, which would have triggered a suspension. However, the league overturned the decision after review, allowing her to remain eligible.Photo by Melissa Tamez/Icon Sportswire via Getty ImagesDave Portnoy defends Caitlin Clark after WNBA technical foul controversyThe incident came after Clark appeared to make contact with an official while driving to the basket. She later suggested it was accidental, saying she hoped the call would be rescinded.Portnoy quickly reacted on social media, taking aim at how Clark has been treated. He wrote: Imagine treating the most important, impactful, influential womans basketball player ever like a piece of s. Insane disrespect. He followed that up by highlighting her performance.By the way shes got 25 and 9 assists and is 5/6 from 3. And they HATE her for it, Portnoy added. His comments reflect a wider sentiment among some fans. Many believe Clarks rise has not always been matched by how she is officiated or discussed around the league.Meanwhile, Portnoy has consistently backed Clark during her rookie campaign and beyond. He had earlier urged her to consider drastic action, even suggesting she should start your own league already in frustration.Photo by Jeffrey Brown/Icon Sportswire via Getty ImagesDespite the controversy, Clark delivered on the court. She helped lead the Fever to a 90-86 win over the Sky, continuing her strong form in a tight playoff race. The overturned call also proved significant.A suspension would have ruled her out of a key upcoming game against the New York Liberty.Instead, Clark is set to feature as the Fever push towards the postseason as only 11 games are left in the regular season. For the WNBA, the spotlight remains firmly on how its biggest star is handled. And with voices like Portnoy speaking out, that scrutiny is not going away anytime soon.Read more:I didnt chase mine Scottie Pippen believes he had more success than LeBron JamesNever Scottie Pippen opened up on the sad reality of his relationship with Michael JordanBen Simmons NBA hopes receive major update after return to pro basketball0 Comments 0 Shares 121 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMAuburn's Rayshawn Pleasant included in Hornung Award watchlistAnother week has begun, which brings the reveal of another watchlist for postseason awards. Monday, the Paul Hornung Award revealed its initial watchlist for the 2026 season, which included Auburn defensive back and return specialist Rayshawn Pleasant. The Hornung Award is awarded annually to the most versatile player in college football. The SEC has the most representatives on the Hornung Award Watchlist with 10, more than the Big 10 (5), ACC (6), and Big 12 (6). Pleasant joins South Carolina's Vicari Swain, Oklahoma's Isaiah Sategna, and Florida's Jaden Baugh as SEC representatives on the watchlist. Pleasant showcased his versatility at Tulane during the 2023 and 2024 seasons, making him an attractive piece in the transfer portal ahead of the 2025 season. He ultimately signed with Auburn and lived up to the hype as a defensive back and returner by logging 16 tackles and a career-high two interceptions in Auburn's win over Arkansas, one being a pick-six. He added two more touchdowns to his list as a returner, one being a 98-yard kickoff return in Auburn's season-opening win at Baylor.Pleasant will look to boost his numbers as a senior for Auburn and possibly end the season as Auburn's first Paul Hornung Award winner.
