Its hard to guard these guys, especially when you cant touch them past 5 yards.So when you got a guy who can really shut down a receiver, can be versatile like I am, you dont come across those guys often, for real.So, when you got a premier corner like that its just--you pay him. Like, please pay him. Thats all we sayin.But its not really somethin thats on my mind right now. My mind is to go win football games, bro. Were trying to be the best team that we can be for this year. And stuff like that just get in the way of doin that.The second episode of Hard Knocks on this Seahawks training camp was to air Tuesday night on HBO.Fight dayFamily Day was Fight Day at Seahawks training camp.The biggest events of camps 15th practice Tuesday in front of the players and coaches family member happened outside the field they were scrimmaging on in full pads.Camps biggest fight yet happened one play after a sideline official flagged wide receiver Tory Horton for offensive pass interference pushing into cornerback Nathaniel Pritchett with a two-arm shiver. That was with Horton coming out of his break on a deep out route in an 11-on-11 scrimmage. The pass fell to the grass incomplete.The defensive players yelled at Horton for the penalty. On his way back to his offenses huddle, Horton went into the defensive huddle and talked smack at all 11 players there.Horton lined up flanked outside left again for the next snap. He caught a quick pass outside, in front of arriving safety Ty Okada. Okada hit Horton one hard in his back from behind after the play was over. Then he hit him again. Then Okada hit Horton a third time in the back, along the sideline where all the defensive players were massed.Horton, the teams fifth-round pick last year from Colorado State in his first weeks back from a cracked shin that ended his rookie season in November, went at Okada following the third late hit. Okada threw Horton to the ground, and into the mass of about three-dozen defensive players.With the players and coaches significant others and kids watching from across the way, a giant pile of defensive players went at the fallen Horton. He was almost the lone offensive player on the sideline opposite his offensive teammates. When an offensive lineman ran over from the middle of the field to try to assist Horton, linebacker Derick Hall stood in front of him and stopped him.Coaches yelled: Wasting time! Time to get back to playing ball!Finally, after a minute of wrestling, they did.Okada stayed in scrimmaging.After the fight, the charged-up defense bulled through the offensive line for two sacks.Earlier in the practice, linebacker Chazz Surratt drilled a tight end in the back after a catch as he was going out of bounds. Macdonald threw him out of the scrimmage for that.Back-field actionPerhaps the most important action of the day related to this Seahawks season happened on the back field during position and group drills early in practice.Running back Zach Charbonnet hopped and moved laterally with the cable of a resistance machine strapped around his waist. Its the evolution of his eventual return from reconstructive knee surgery in February. The presumed lead back replacing departed Kenneth Walker remains on the physically-unable-to-perform list.Next to him with another trainer, rookie running back and first-round draft choice Jadarian Price ran diagonal, change-of-direction sprints. He also ran 10- and 20-yard straight-line sprints. Price missed his fourth consecutive practice with what coach Mike Macdonald said Saturday is upper-leg tightness.It seems unlikely Price will play Saturday when the Seahawks have their preseason opener against Dallas at Lumen Field.Next to Price and Charbonnet, rookie cornerback Julian Neal ran in a practice-uniform and pads. He was running change-of-direction sprints. The hybrid safety/linebacker key to all Macdonald does on the front, middle and back of his top-ranked defense passed his team physical earlier Tuesday.Thats Emmanworis next step to coming off the physically-unable-to-perform list. He had arthroscopic surgery on his right ankle in July. He sprained that in practice in February four days before the Super Bowl. The 11-on-11 scrimmaging continued.Uchenna Nwosu moved to the edge rusher opposite DeMarcus Lawrence on the starting defense for most of the rest of the practice.Running back Emmanuel Wilson, whos been running with the starters with Price out the last four practices, pulled up after a catch and run out of bounds late in practice grabbing his upper leg. He went to the ground and got assistant from a trainer.Extra points*All-Pro wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigbas daily, one-on-one battles with Witherspoon continued. The NFL offensive player of the year made an exquisite adjustment to Darnolds underthrown deep ball on a post route. As Witherspoon sprinted deep to reach Smith-Njigba, the receiver slowed down, turned his back and scooped the ball into his chest before he hit the ground, 3 yards short of the goal line. Witherspoon angrily slapped his hands together for giving up that catch.Smith-Njigba later out-foxed rookie cornerback Michael Dansby by slowing to catch Darnolds designed, back-shoulder throw at the goal line for a touchdown.*As Macdonald said this week, Witherspoon and opposite starting cornerback Josh Jobe alternating flipping on the right and left sides, almost by the play at times. They usually stay on one side. The coach wants to put guys in new spots this week, in case he needs to duing the season.*Rookie second-round pick Bud Clark had another day as the Emmanwori-like big nickel in extra defensive-back sets on the starting defense. Clark was also on the second-team defense back as a deep safety.*Backup quarterback Drew Lock zipped multiple impressive passes through and around tight coverage for completions, including on a wowing deep pass outside right to tight end Elijah Arroyo at the sideline. Cornerback Nehemiah Pritchett couldnt believe Lock completed it.*Wide receiver Jake Bobo was scrimmaging for the first time since what was believed to be a hamstring injury two weeks ago.

He is also a shot-maker and has developed a 3-point shot throughout his days in college, so with the run-and-gun offense that Kelsey loves, Kohler would fit right in.Kohler shot 38.9% on just over four 3-point attempts per game in his final year at Michigan State under Tom Izzo. It makes a ton of sense for both teams in the Bluegrass to go after the prized August pickup, so thats what weve got.This recruitment battle will be added to the long list of battles that Pope and Kelsey have had over their two years at their respective programs. Add it to the names of Taylen Kinney, who neither won, Gabe Dynes, who Louisville won, and Milan Momcilovic, who Kentucky won.So, in addition to Kentucky, Kohler is considering returning home to play for BYU, which would sting after the Rob Wright III chaos in the early portal days, a move to Kansas, which would hurt after the Tyran Stokes drama that felt like years, and a move to Louisville, Kentuckys in-state rival.Time will tell, but Pope and this staff have shown that Kohler is towards the top of the list of transfers they would like to pick up ahead of the 2026-27 season.

ARDMORE, PA Stroke play has almost concluded at the 2026 U.S. Amateur, which means match play is set to begin Wednesday at Merion Golf Club.The week began with 312 players battling it out at Merion and Philadelphia Country Club, but come Tuesday night the field was set to be reduced to the top 64 and ties, though the final few holes of stroke play will conclude Wednesday morning, with a playoff following to compete the match play bracket.The cut will be 2 over, with 17 players (as of end of play Tuesday) going to a playoff to fill out the match-play bracket. Everyone 3 over and worse missed the cut. Boston Red Sox hatThe Boston Red Sox have made a lot of good moves over the last two years, but there have been some questionable ones as well.One that the Red Sox's front office is likely regretting is the trade that sent lefty reliever Bernardino to the Colorado Rockies before the 2026 season.Boston traded Bernardino to the Rockies in exchange for infielder/outfielder Braiden Ward. Ward impressed throughout Spring Training and is an intriguing depth option to have in the organization. He has blazing speed that definitely could help the club down the stretch in a pinch-running role, especially in the postseason.While this is the case, having Bernardino on the roster right now would've been better.Looking for the perfect gift for a baseball player in your life? The 34-year-old has a 2.64 ERA in 55 total outings, to go along with a 36-to-14 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 47 2/3 innings pitched. At-72 the As are only better than one other team in the American League: the Los Angeles Angels. The playoffs arent happening but the goal the rest of the season should be to finish above them. The right-hander is making his third start since seemingly rejoining the rotation. He had a terrific first start against the Red Sox last week but got tagged for five runs his last time out against the Reds. The highly-rated prospect has encountered his first slump at the plate in his big league career, with just four hits in his last 27 at bats. Mark Kotsay gave him a day off yesterday and now hes batting ninth so hopefully an extra day of rest and hitting in a low-pressure spot in the lineup can help spark him in the batters box. Well be seeing plenty more of White with Nick Kurtzs injury.Tampa Bay meanwhile has Nick Martinez getting the start for them this evening. An offseason acquisition for Tampa, Martinez has been an absolute steal for the Rays. In 22 starts the 26-year-old has a career-best 2.65 ERA, good for fourth in the American League. Signed to a one-year contract, Martinez is likely to get some down-ballot Cy Young votes thanks to his work with the Rays and is looking at a fairly sizable contract this coming winter. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) The Golden State Warriors have every indication Stephen Curry would like to stay with the team for the remainder of his career, and they plan to make that happen for the two-time NBA MVP.The 38-year-old Curry is hoping to play at least a couple more years and has said he wants them to be with the Warriors. He is set to complete a $62.6 million extension he signed for the 2026-27 season in August 2024.Whether a new contract will get done right away remains to be seen. Curry becomes eligible for a two-year extension Aug. 29, and general manager Mike Dunleavy said, I'm pretty confident Steph will finish his career here."Ultimately its his call, his decision, whether thats allowing his contract to run out and move on, Dunleavy said during a video call Tuesday. Look, if he comes to me and wants to be moved, Joe (owner Joe Lacob) and I will talk it through. We wouldnt love it. But hes earned the right to do what he wants, do those things.
