The Atlanta Falcons wrapped up their 11th training camp on Tuesday, and just one open practice remains on Wednesday before their first game of the 2026 NFL preseason. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had arguably his best day yet on Tuesday, while Michael Penix Jr. continued to impress as well.The Falcons will host the Denver Broncos at Mercedes-Benz Stadium this Friday at 7 p.m. ET. Sure, the Aces had suffered a 40-point loss at Barclays Center, but that result had been conditioned by rest days for Chelsea Gray, A'ja Wilson and Jackie Young.With those three players back in the lineup on Tuesday, the Aces got back on track with an 86-76 win over the red-hot Washington Mystics. She didn't come off the draft board until the Los Angeles Sparks took a chance on her with the 20th overall pick in April, and she was waived on July 6 after just 10 games.The Aces picked her up two days later, and in her third appearance for the team, she scored 20 points in that blowout loss to the Liberty. It was the first game in which she got "substantial time," Hammon told reporters, and the rookie guard's competitiveness and scoring touch made an impact."You know greatness is in there, it didn't go anywhere," Hammon said Tuesday. "We just want to bring it out in her and give her the opportunity to bring it out. ... Miami extended the contract of coach Jai Lucas over the past few weeks, a person with knowledge of the agreement said.The extension came with a raise, said the person, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because no details were revealed publicly.Miami, as a private university, is not required to release contract information and did not comment on the extension. Lucas had four years left on his original five-year deal.Lucas engineered an impressive turnaround in his first season with the Hurricanes, leading them to a 26-9 overall record and going 13-5 in the Atlantic Coast Conference without any returning players. Miami which went 7-24 overall and 3-17 in ACC play in 2024-25, before Lucas arrived wound up making the NCAA Tournament, beating Missouri before falling to Purdue in the second round.The reworked agreement with Lucas came around the same time as Miami getting a new deal done with football coach Mario Cristobal on the heels of last seasons 13-3 record and run to the College Football Playoff national championship game, the person said. Word of Cristobals extension first was reported by On3 and then confirmed by Cristobal.Weve done a lot of good things, Cristobal said when discussing his extension, the terms of which also were not confirmed by the school. And theres a lot more good and great and elite things to come.Cristobal also has raved about the work Lucas has done and even attended some of the basketball teams early morning workouts in recent weeks.Lucas, who had not been a head coach before Miami hired him in March 2025, was mentioned as a potential target for many schools that were seeking coaches after last season.We have good people at the university, and then we had great people in the building this year. Half the battle is making sure you get the right people in there, Lucas said when last season ended. And then once you get the right people, youve just got to figure it out.Miami was one of nine schools to be among the final AP Top 25 in both football and mens basketball during the 2025-26 season.

The NASCAR All-Star Race will return to the historic North Wilkesboro Speedway in 2027, putting the $1 million-to-win exhibition on the short track where it was run from 2023-2025. After having a Cup points race this year to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the North Carolina tracks last Cup points event in 1996, the track will play host to the NASCAR All-Star event on May 23. While Cup teams will compete in an exhibition event, the track will have points races for both the trucks (May 21) and the OReilly Series (May 22). The track, in its news release, indicated that NASCAR will collaborate with the teams to add an innovative element to the All-Star Race. That's typically the case, whether the change is to the format or technical rules. North Wilkesboro, a 0.625-mile asphalt oval, did not have a NASCAR national series race from 1997-2022 and had been dormant off and on for decades until track operator Speedway Motorsports restored the facility with the help of North Carolina pandemic-recovery funding. "North Wilkesboro has once again become a place where NASCAR's rich history, current momentum and exciting future come together," NASCAR Chief Operating Officer Ben Kennedy said in a news release. "We're incredibly proud of what this [tripleheader race] weekend represents not only for this legendary track, but also for the community that helped bring it back and for the continued growth of our sport." The All-Star Race will cap the 2027 Cup schedule for FOX Sports, which will air the first 14 Cup events on FOX or FS1.
