If Machado Garry can come up big as an underdog and dethrone Makhachev, he sees Carlos Prates (24-7 MMA, 7-1 UFC) as the most deserving No. 1 contender. Machado Garry fended off a late surge from Prates to beat him by unanimous decision at UFC on ESPN 66 in April 2025."Carlos Prates has earned it," Machado Garry told MMA Junkie and other reporters at a pre-fight news conference Wednesday. "Nobody else in the entire division has earned it. They all need to fight at least one more fight. Prates is coming off two fights against two guys that have never been finished, and he did it in insane fashion, and I whooped his ass for 24 minutes, and I did it on three weeks' notice. So, if he wants to give me three, four months, he knows what's going to happen. If it doesnt, I know next year is going to be an awesome year for me. So it takes a lot of the stress off of this week.

The Jets took a flier on Cade Klubnik in the fourth round as a possible long-term option at quarterback. For now, the former Clemson star is competing for the backup job with Bailey Zappe and Brady Cook behind starter Geno Smith. Smith and the rest of the starters will play in Friday night's preseason opener against the Bucs, but Klubnik is sure to see more snaps than Smith.Klubnik started 40 games in four seasons at Clemson, so the lights aren't likely to be too bright or the stage too big.When the fires blazing, you have a little bit of a presence, kind of like Ive been here before, Klubnik said this week, via Dennis Waszak Jr. of the Associated Press. And obviously, the speed is different, all of that. But its still football. And being able to just have a lot of games under my belt has definitely helped. I think just maybe Ill step on the field and go play quarterback.It's the college experience that has him confident as he steps on an NFL field for the first time. It's been a dull and slow window for Liverpool supporters. At the beginning of June, there was a lot of briefings that this would be a monumental summer for the Reds.The club's hierarchy was supposed to be aggressive in the market in order to provide the tools for Andoni Iraola to succeed. They were going to sign Yan Diomande to replace Mo Salah and on top of that bring in another extra elite winger.That hasn't happened. Liverpool missed out on Diomande and while they have brought in Ronald Araujo and Victor Munoz to provide a little bit more ammunition in defence and attack the real problems have not been addressed.We are heading into the season with a lot of the club's deadwood still also at the club taking up precious non-homegrown spots.Currently, Liverpool's non-homegrown quota is maxed out. They will need to move on someone like Wataru Endo, Calvin Ramsay or Federico Chiesa before the club can make further additions to the squad.This means there is a delicate waiting game and deals are being held up. Liverpool at this moment in time are haggling PSG over a move for Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye - whether the double deal is possible it remains to be seen.But while much has been said about Liverpool's incomings the potential outgoings has also been massive.Liverpool have lost a lot of key players this summer. Ibrahima Konate, Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah all had big roles to play in the squad on and off the pitch.They were huge characters and important figures in the dressing room. The kind of players who have played at the highest level and have won trophies and therefore Liverpool's younger players could lean on them for support.Now on top of this, Liverpool could be about to lose more of their key stars.There's a lot of conversations going around Cody Gakpo, who is Premier League winner, but for whom the Reds are definitely open to listening to offers for.It's why they want both Mbaye and Barcola, because it then allows Gakpo to leave for a significant fee. Tottenham are interested in the Dutchman and it would not be a surprise to see him playing in the capital by the end of the window.The other more disappointing departure could be Curtis Jones. When he first came through the academy there were such high hopes for him.He had everything to be an elite player and someone who could follow the Steven Gerrard route at Anfield. Instead, he hasn't quite established himself as a star and now will be following the Trent Alexander-Arnold pathway.Jones is definitely closing in on a move away from Anfield with Inter Milan clearing the way for him to play at the San Siro.Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Inter have agreed a move to loan out Davide Frattesi to Lazio with an option to buy the Italian midfielder.Romano has given this brand new deal his signature 'here we go.'Inter needed to sell Frattessi in order to make room for Jones in the squad. The OKC Thunder announced its schedule for the 2026-27 NBA season on Thursday.OKC has 30 nationally-televised games on its schedule, which ranks fifth in the NBA. The New York Knicks, San Antonio Spurs, Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers have 34 national TV games apiece.OKC will travel to face San Antonio on Opening Night, which is Oct. 20. It'll be a rematch of last season's Western Conference finals, where the Spurs won in seven games. The Thunder's home opener will be against the Denver Nuggets on Oct. 22.OKC will then play its four NBA Cup group play games in November. That consists of road games against the Memphis Grizzlies (Nov. 6) and Los Angeles Clippers (Nov. 13), followed by home games against the New Orleans Pelicans (Nov. 20) and Minnesota Timberwolves (Nov. 25).OKC will also also host the Atlanta Hawks on Nov. 18, marking the return of former Thunder guards Lu Dort and Aaron Wiggins.
