Djed Spence completes Inter Milan moveInter Milan have completed the signing ofDjed Spence from Tottenham Hotspur, with the defender agreeing a five-year contract with the Serie A champions.The 26-year-old has joined Inter for a reported fee of around 30 million (25.6m), bringing his four-year spell in north London to an end. Spence will remain at San Siro until June 2031.Spence arrived at Tottenham from Middlesbrough in 2022 and went on to make 85 appearances for the club. He played an important role in their Europa League triumph during the 2024-25 campaign, while making 44 appearances across all competitions last season.His future at Spurs had been uncertain despite manager Roberto De Zerbi previously expressing a desire to keep him. The emergence of Pedro Porro, who recently signed a new contract, alongside the arrival of Andy Robertson from Liverpool, increased competition for places in defence.Spence has also gained experience outside England, spending time on loan with Rennes, Leeds United and Genoa.He becomes the second England international to join Inter this summer after John Stones arrived from Manchester City. Spence was also part of Englands 2026 World Cup squad.

It wasnt a good outing by any means, but all parties believe Daz is at least heading in the right direction. Daz since returning from the injured list has one clean outing in six tries, with seven runs allowed in 4 2/3 innings. One night after allowing three runs in a blown save to the Brewers, he walked two batters and hit another, loading the bases in the ninth inning. This time he escaped without damage, helped by a fantastic play by second baseman Tommy Edman for the second out of the frame. A grounder to shortstop Mookie Betts ended it.It was good for him to work his way out of it, and obviously he was a hitter away, manager Dave Roberts said. Even with that last hitter, I wanted to see him try to fight through it and get through it. I was happy that he finished what he started.Daz said his posture on the mound was something he was working on, that his misses were more off the plate than in the middle of the strike zone to get punished.Im leaning too much toward the right-handed hitter. Instead of straight down the plate, today was way better, Daz said. My fastball ride was way batter than yesterday. Im going in a good direction, so keep getting better and keep getting better.Theres still a lot to work on for Daz, who threw only 11 strikes in his 26 pitches on Friday.It wasnt pretty, I watched the inning too, Roberts said. Those things I gotta think through, and when you peel that layer back, then your options get a little bit smaller. Then youre talking about lanes and whats the best for a particular pitcher. After taking down the Arizona Cardinals last week, the Carolina Panthers got that out of the way when they ran into a brick wall this afternoon.As Buffalo Bills head coach and former Panthers offensive coordinator Joe Brady ran circles around defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, Carolina's first-string offense found no answers when they had the ball.Starting quarterback Bryce Young didnt get much of an opportunity on his first drive of the game. After a short run by running back Jonathon Brooks, he completed a 6-yard pass to tight end Tommy Tremble. On third down, he had nowhere to go with the ball as pressure came down on himso he threw it away rather than taking the sack.Youngs second drive wasnt any better. After completing a 9-yarder to Brooks, the offensive line got pushed backwards on a run for a loss. On third down, Youngs pass was batted down at the line of scrimmage by Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard.For his last time out on the field, it was much the same story. After one completion for three yards to tight end JaTavion Sanders, the drive stalled. Young dropped back on third-and-6, but held onto the ball too long and wound up taking a sack from defensive tackle Deone Walker.Young's day is now overfinishing with three completions on five attempts for 18 yards and a 67.1 passer rating. As a whole, the Panthers' first-team offense recorded zero first downs.To be fair, Carolina's offensive line was missing multiple starters, including left guard Damien Lewis and right guard Robert Huntand there's not much Young can do when he isn't getting solid protection. The Panthers' run game is also going to be predicated on quality blocking up front. What Happened to Jaxson Dart? A Look at Why Giants Star Was Checked for Concussion in Preseason Week 1The first week of preseason is here for the New York Giants, and the excitement is palpable. With head coach John Harbaugh assuming the reins of the franchise and the potential their rookie quarterback showed last season, there was a ton of hype from the fan base.Unfortunately, the start to their preseason might have given them some serious worry, with Jaxson Dart taking a brutal hit. As a result, he was even checked for a concussion in the tent, leaving fans worried about his status.Jaxson Dart Takes Scary HitAfter initially keeping his choice private, Harbaugh declared on the day of the game that he planned on giving his starters some reps against the Minnesota Vikings. Understandably, there was excitement from the fans as they finally got to see the crew back in action.It started solid enough in the first quarter. But then it looked like tragedy struck. Facing a second down, the Giants went for a passing play. However, as soon as Dart got the ball, his running back, Tyrone Tracy, completely whiffed on the block.What followed was a brutal hit directly to Darts midsection that caused him to return to the sideline immediately. Despite a 40-yard completion from Winston, the team switched Dart back into the game.He came in for a single snap, whipping a 15-yard pass that was hauled in miraculously by Malachi Fields to get the first touchdown of the game, as the Giants took a 7-3 lead. With the team confident enough to send him back into the game, it doesnt look like the injury was a major cause for concern.But after concussions became a major storyline for Dart last season (he was checked for one on five separate occasions), fans will be anxious that it once again remains a major worry with him, even in a preseason contest.Even with those injury concerns, Dart finished the 2025 season with 2,272 passing yards and 15 touchdowns against just five interceptions, while also adding 487 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground to finish at number 23 on PFNs QB Impact Metric.The hope is that he can build on that season under Harbaugh and new offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, while the Giants try to take a step further in the NFC East and potentially emerge as a viable playoff contender.This article originally appeared on Pro Football Network.

Unfortunately for the Minnesota Vikings, it looks like they might not have met that first objective in their preseason opener against the New York Giants.During the second quarter of the preseason opener, the Vikings had to call on the cart for safety/linebacker Jamal Adams, who appears to have suffered some sort of a leg injury on a play where the Giants scored a touchdown. The nature of the injury has not been disclosed at the present time.Adams signed with the Vikings a couple of weeks ago and originally started as a linebacker, but was moved back to the safety spot by Brian Flores and was apparently being used all over the defense. His role has apparently not been completely defined yet.Adams spent last season with the Las Vegas Raiders and played all seventeen games after dealing with a litany of injuries over previous seasons. He seems to be the sort of player that Flores could use in all sorts of different ways in his defense.Once we get an update on what sort of injury Adams has suffered, we will update this post. For now, we will just be hoping that it isnt as serious as it appears to be at first glance. Keep your fingers crossed, folks.

It was getting around the coaches, seeing how they coach their own players, getting in the meeting room with them and seeing how they coach on the board and stuff like that.Vargas, an incoming junior at Saint Johns Prep, had more than 20 offers from the likes of Alabama, Georgia, Oregon and yes, the team up North. He gravitated to the atmosphere in Columbus and the way coach Ryan Day and his staff develop quarterbacks. Ohio State reached the Big 10 championship game last season and qualified for the College Football Playoff.With his recruitment ended, Vargas can focus on his day job of St. Johns Prep starting quarterback for the next two years.Its a blessing to have the opportunity to have that process, Vargas said. But obviously its a weight lifted off your shoulders.The Eagles reached the Division 1 state final last season but fell against Xaverian, who won its third consecutive state championship.Vargas played at Gillette after missing much of the postseason with a knee injury he suffered against Framingham in the opening round.Watch MA high school football on NFHSObviously we fell short last year, and we want to get to that end goal again and achieve it, Vargas said.Hes the latest in a line of high-profile Massachusetts quarterback commits this offseason. A reserve role can make it difficult for a player to establish rhythm.
