Florida football coach Jon Sumrall displayed a mix of his intense and authentic personality at 2026 SEC Football Media Days in Tampa on July 22.It culminated by Sumrall joking he was going to "throw the podium" at a reporter who inadvertently left his cell phone as he took questions from reporters.The clip went viral on social media and some took it the wrong way. But Abadie said it's just an example of the personality that Sumrall has shown in his eight months on the job as Florida Gators coach."Sumrall's candidness stole the show," Abadie said. "He went into it unintentionally which is why it was so refreshing to see. You'd like to see him back it up with wins of course but not once it was, we're gonna win this, we're going to win that. It was more like, we've got to get better or else .. he's honest about it and that's why so many people like it."Ram said Sumrall's brashness rubbed off on the players who took the podium UF, which included running back Jadan Baugh, linebacker Myles Graham and wide receiver Vernell Brown III."Even though guys like Vernell Brown, who have only been one year in the SEC and have won four games, they're acting like they belong because that's the example that's being set to them by their coach," Ram said. U.S. mens national team midfielder Sebastian Berhalter is reportedly close to transferring to EFL Championship side Middlesbrough, according to The Athletics Tom Bogert.Berhalter has been with the Vancouver Whitecaps since 2022 and made 120 appearances and scored 14 goals with the club. The 25-year-old, who appeared in all five matches for the USMNT at the World Cup, was set to be out of contract following the 2026 MLS season. Middlesbrough will reportedly pay a $2 million transfer free to Vancouver, who reached the MLS Cup final and won the Canadian Championship last season. Berhalter, who is the son of former USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter, was named to the MLS Best XI last season and is a two-time All-Star.Berhalter will join good friend and former Columbus Crew teammate Aidan Morris at Middlesbrough. The 24-year-old Morris signed with the Championship side in June 2024.Berhalter debuted for the USMNT last summer after Mauricio Pochettino was hired and has made 18 appearances internationally and scored two goals, including one against Trkiye during the group stage last month.Middlesbrough has spent the 15 of the past 16 seasons playing in the Championship. In 2025-26, they finished fifth in the table, earning a spot in the playoffs. They were defeated over two legs by Southampton, but it was later revealed a member of the Southampton staff had spied on a Middlesbrough training session. The EFL expelled Southampton from the playoff final, reinstating Middlesbrough to face Hull City.With a place in the Premier League on the line, MIddlesbrough failed to defeat Hull City, losing 1-0 at Wembley Stadium.

According to the Lancashire Telegraph, Phillips is the subject of a bid of more than 10m from Boro as they gear up for a potential promotion campaign in the Championship this coming season. Boro doesnt appear to be Phillips only option, with the article stating hes getting a lot of attention from English clubs as well as some from the continent as well. Philllips has yet to make a single appearance for Spurs, but hes turning into a hot commodity in the Championship. Signed three years ago for 2.5m, Phillips has had a loan at Plymouth Argyle and two straight seasons on loan at Stoke City where he has established himself as an exciting young defender. That doesnt always translate to Premier League success, and if he stays hell almost certainly go back out on loan again. He was not listed on Spurs preseason tour roster which suggests hes leaving the club one way or another this summer. One financial wrinkle: Blackburn Rovers apparently have a 15% sell-on clause in Phillips contract, so theyll see a small windfall if and when Phillips gets sold. It seems pretty clear at this point that Spurs intend to flip Phillips for a profit rather than bring him through into the first team; hed be well back in the CB pecking order and its not clear that his skills translate (yet) to what we hope is a high functioning Premier League side at Spurs. Thats probably fine. Phillips clearly is in demand and now might be a very good time for Spurs to cash in, even if it means hes never played a first team match in Tottenhams colors.

Nearly every team besides the Jaguars and Rams requires offsets with salary guarantees for draft picks, including those selected in the top 10.Based on past practices, Simpsons contract with the Rams shouldnt contain offsets, continued Corry. The last time the Rams had a first-round pick, edge rusher Jared Verse in 2024, his contract did not contain offsets in the salary guarantees despite being the 19th overall selection.The Rams report to camp on Saturday.
