LeBron James has announced he will be joining the Philadelphia 76ers next season for what he says will be his final year in the NBA.The 41-year-old, the highest points scorer in the history of the league, left the Los Angeles Lakers after eight years last month. The Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves and Miami Heat were also rumored to be in the running for James."I believe I can help make the Philadelphia 76ers a championship team and I am so excited to energize a new fanbase and start this incredible journey one last time," James said on X. CHICAGO Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark's All-Star experince is off to a presidential start.Clark touched down in Chicago for the 2026 WNBA All-Star Weekend on Friday, July 24, just in time for practice with Team Teresa Weatherspoon at the recently opened Barack Obama Presidential Center, where former President Barack made a surprise appearance to visit the league's biggest stars. After giving a brief speech, Obama went and shook each players' hand and posed for pictures. Obama and Clark chatted for several minutes before snapping a photo together. Then, Clark motioned for Fever teammates Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston to join for a joint photo. Clark said she bonded with Obama over the heightened media exposure they've both navigated throughout their careers, a conversation that she called "super cool."He just complimented me for the way that I handle everything, obviously with everything thats been going on," Clark told reporters on Friday morning. "Hes somebody that has been in front of the media quite a bit and he reminded me, When I got famous in my 40s, I didnt have to do it in my 20s."Clark continued: "Sometimes, I think, people dont always realize, like, Im 24-years-old and Im trying to navigate a lot of different things while trying to play basketball at the same time. So, it was cool to hear that from him and I think, honestly, its probably a good reminder for all of us to treat people with respect, treat people with grace."Clark told USA TODAY Sports the exchange is "definitely a moment I'll probably remember for the rest of my life." I want this to be my legacy.Tyson Has Changed His Mind About LegacyTysons answer marks a sharp shift from the position he expressed before his 2024 fight against Jake Paul. When a young interviewer asked how he wanted to be remembered, Tyson said he did not believe in legacy and considered it another word for ego.I want to keep going even when Im no longer around, Tyson said of the Invitational. Since people make legacy such a big thing, this would be my legacy.About 350 Fighters Registered Within HoursTyson said interest in the second event was immediate when registration opened. You wont believe the number of people we had sign up this time, he said. 350 kids in a couple hours.The figure represents the number of applicants rather than the final fight card. The Invitational is an invite-only showcase, with competitors selected and matched according to their weight, ability and experience instead of being placed into a traditional elimination bracket.Tyson said he was gratefully honored by the response and wants to rebuild the amateur system that helped develop him during the early 1980s. When Tyson was a teenager, frequent amateur events allowed him to gain experience before turning professional in 1985. He now believes young American fighters have fewer opportunities to compete regularly and attract the attention needed to advance.The First Invitational Removed Major Financial BarriersThe inaugural Mike Tyson Invitational took place from March 12 through March 14 at SAHARA Las Vegas. It featured 52 amateur fighters in 26 bouts, with participants ranging from 9 to 24 years old.There were no registration fees or pay-to-play requirements. Tyson funded the event into six figures, while lodging, meals and training facilities were provided for the fighters and their coaches, according to Boxing Insider.He Wants the Invitational to Continue Without HimTyson believes the program can provide young fighters with more than a single night in the ring. He said participation could bring discipline, confidence and connections capable of changing the direction of their careers.You are not going to have no idea the benefits these young fighters are going to get from this, he said. Its going to change their whole life.The second Invitationals fight night begins July 25 at the SAHARA Theatre, with doors opening at 1 p.m. and the first bout scheduled for 2 p.m. Mike Tyson had his turn, Tyson said.
