SPORTS.YAHOO.COMMan City willing to spend 100 million on winger – Club no longer active in chaseMan City willing to spend 100 million on winger Club no longer active in chaseManchester City verbally indicated a willingness to pay 100 million for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande.Fabrizio Romano reports City have since gone quiet, echoing a pattern seen with Arsenal.Diomande, who agreed personal terms with PSG, has also opened the door to Real Madrid.Despite indicating a willingness to sanction a staggering nine-figure transfer fee on Ivory Coast star Yan Diomande, Manchester City appear inactive on the players future. The Ivory Coast international, signed by RB Leipzig for around 20 million, enjoyed a breakout Bundesliga season and has since been strongly linked with Liverpool, Arsenal, Real Madrid and both Manchester clubs, with Leipzig holding out for more than 100 million.Manchester Citys interest in winger reinforcement has been consistent throughout the ongoing transfer window, with the club identified as one of several suitors for the 19-year-old prior to this summers World Cup.However, as with other targets, verbal willingness to meet a certain price point has not always translated into a formal move, and reports now suggest Citys interest has cooled as Real Madrid sharpen their own approach.Initial Man City interest in Yan Diomande stallsAccording to Sky in Germany, Manchester City verbally indicated a readiness to bid 100 million for Yan Diomande, although no official offer had been launched by Etihad Stadium officials despite talks having taken place with RB Leipzig. However, as per Fabrizio Romano, City went quiet on Diomande days ago after calls to check on the players situation the same scenario that came with interest from Arsenal. The player himself is said to have only opened doors to Real Madrid since agreeing personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain in June, and the La Liga giants are now in club to club talks with Leipzig.Where does this leave Man Citys winger search? With Real Madrid holding direct talks and PSG still working to convert personal terms into a formal bid, Manchester City risk being forced to sound out alternative solutions to their winger needs, with Savinho continuing to be tied to a prospective move to Tottenham.Whether this represents a permanent withdrawal or simply a pause while Manchester City assess value elsewhere in the market remains to be seen.Should Diomandes preferred move to Madrid stall for any such reason, Citys earlier willingness to hit a nine-figure valuation could yet see them re-enter the race. But for now, the initiative appears to lie firmly with those in the Spanish capital.0 Comments 0 Shares 61 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMSebastian Hoene rules out goalkeeper signing after Seimens injurySebastian Hoene rules out goalkeeper signing after Seimens injuryStuttgart will be without their starting goalkeeper Dennis Seimen at least until the end of September. However, there are currently no signs that they are looking for replacements ahead of their return to Champions League football."I spoke with Dennis (Seimen). Of course, he's disappointed. But, by now, he's already back in the mode of looking forward. We're doing everything we can to get him back as quickly as possible." said Stuttgarts coach Sebastian Hoene after their 5-0 win over FSV Hollenbach in pre-season.Hoene further commented on their approach to dealing with his absence. "In principle, we are very satisfied with the goalkeeping team and especially with Fabi (Fabian Bredlow). As it stands now, we see no need to bring in a new goalkeeper. Generally, we have confidence in our boys."Seimen will be Stuttgarts number one when he returns to full fitness. The Germany U21 international helped Paderborn win promotion to Bundesliga before returning to his parent club to replace Alexander Nbel.0 Comments 0 Shares 61 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMSacha Boey unlikely to stay at Bayern Munich next seasonSacha Boey unlikely to stay at Bayern Munich next seasonSacha Boey (25) is not expected to continue his spell at Bayern Munich next season, as confirmed by the clubs sporting director, Christoph Freund.Hes training with us, but will no longer play a significant role. He has been made aware of this, the Bayern official told the press following the pre-season friendly in which Vincent Kompanys side lost 2-1 to Offenbach. Hes a good player. Hell continue to train and play with us, but the plan is for him to take his career to the next level elsewhere.Asked about the possibility of the Frenchman going out on loan, Freund explained that it wasnt part of the clubs plans, but that no possibility could be ruled out in the transfer market. Hes a player in demand. Hes put in some good performances in Turkey. He could fit into many teams, concluded the sporting director.Having joined Bayern from Galatasaray for a fee of 30m in the winter of 2024, Boey never established himself as a key player for the Rekordmeister. Apart from his loan spell with the Istanbul club during the second half of the 2025-26 season, the Frenchman has made just 38 appearances in all competitions scoring one goal and providing five assists for the Munich side.GFFN | Lo Aschi0 Comments 0 Shares 40 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMUSWNT defender Emily Sonnett stretchered off in Gotham FC matchGotham FC defender Emily Sonnett was stretchered off with a suspected knee injury in Friday's 2-2 draw at the Portland Thorns.Sonnett, a mainstay in the back line for Gotham and the U.S. women's national team, went down with a non-contact injury just seven minutes in at Providence Park. The veteran planted awkwardly in the artificial turf and went to ground, eventually needing a stretcher to exit the pitch."Gotham FC defender Emily Sonnett left Friday's match at Portland with a suspected left knee injury. She will receive further evaluation in New Jersey," Gotham said in a statement after the game.Gotham and the USWNT will face a nervous wait over a key veteran, who is still a major contributor for club and country."It's always hard when you lose one of your best players," Gotham acting head coach Shaun Harris said. "Emily's someone who really organizes the team, understands the game plans well. She's good on the ball and once you take her out, obviously we have people to fill in, but that early in the game I feel like it's a bit shocking for people."Emily's one of our key players as a leader on and off the pitch, so it's really difficult when you lose such a great and key player that early in the game."Sonnett has started 10 of 16 NWSL matches this season for Gotham, which is first place in the league standings with a record of 9W-4D-3L.The defender is one of the USWNT's longest-tenured players, earning 118 caps so far. The 32-year-old was part of the 2019 World Cup-champion squad as well as the 2024 team that won Olympic gold in Paris.Saturday, July 25 marks one year until the 2027 Women's World Cup final in Brazil. If healthy, Sonnett is expected to be part of Emma Hayes' USWNT squad for the tournament next summer. This article originally appeared on USA TODAY: USWNT defender Emily Sonnett stretchered off in Gotham FC match0 Comments 0 Shares 47 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMBraves look for a win in Baltimore behind Bryce ElderATLANTA, GA - JULY 20: Bryce Elder #55 of the Atlanta Braves pitches in the third inning during the game against the San Diego Padres at Truist Park on July 20, 2026 in Atlanta, Georgia. (Photo by Jack Casey/Atlanta Braves/Getty Images) | Getty ImagesAfter a nice extra-innings win to start the weekend series on Saturday, the Braves hope to secure an early series win with Bryce Elder on the mound at Camden Yards. The Orioles will counter with the big 27-year-old righty Brandon Young. Bryce had a good start to the season, but has had a rough time recently. That said, he was reportedly dealing with some fatigue and had a better start coming out of the All-Star break, so lets hope that was him getting back on track a bit. He still profiles as a back of the rotation starter on average, with season numbers basically in line with his career average, but the variance can be pretty wide with him from game to game. Hes been throwing his cutter and sinker a decent bit more in June and July, so that will be something interesting to keep an eye on as we hope for another good Bryce Elder night. Brandon Young has less than a year of MLB service time, but is nearly 28. Through 28 starts and 149 innings, the 66 righty has a career 4.53 xFIP and 4.43 FIP, but his ERA is a nice 3.25 this year. His fastball is a tick below average velo and he shows average extension, but he has some nice induced vertical break on the pitch that makes it play well from a moderately high 43 degree arm angle. He mixes in a splitter, slider, sinker, and curve off of his four-seamer, but the four-seamer is by far the most impressive pitch of the bunch. As such, he only strikes out 7.31 batters per 9 innings, walking a solid 3.26. He isnt an especially impressive pitcher, so if the Braves can avoid chasing his sub-par secondaries, they should be able to find some success. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMDoor opens for Chelsea forward to join Liverpool after 117m deal agreedDoor opens for Chelsea forward to join Liverpool after 117m deal agreedMorgan Rogers has signed for Chelsea. The England forward, 23, agreed a move to Stamford Bridge for a mammoth 117m fee.Rogers enjoyed an incredible season with Aston Villa - culminating in a goal and an assist in the UEFA Europa League final win against Freiburg. He also netted 10 times in the Premier League - adding seven assists - paving the way for a blockbuster deal to Xabi Alonsos side.Liverpool like Pedro NetoThe Rogers move is going to have a big impact on the players already on the books in west London and could even have implications for Liverpool.Because the Evening Standard is now reporting that Liverpool target Pedro Neto could well become available as a result.Liverpool have been confirmed as interested in signing Neto - and that interest is long-standing. The Portugal international, 26, moved to Chelsea from Wolves in 2024 - scoring 10 goals and providing 10 assists in all competitions last season.Rogers is now set to occupy his preferred left-wing flank position - opening the door to a transfer away for Neto.Chelsea value Neto at over 50mIt is believed that Chelsea would listen to serious offers for Neto but have no plans to sell him and are not actively looking to do so, the report reads. With Rogers arrival confirmed, the Portuguese could well find himself further down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.A previous report from the Athletic suggested the Pensioners would seek in excess of 50m for Neto - not a bad price for a Premier League-proven talent.Given the troubles Liverpool have had in replacing Mohamed Salah Neto could well be the ideal solution.Bet 10, Get 30 in Free BetsOpen an account and place a qualifying bet of 10 at min odds of 1/5 (1.2) or greater.18+New UK/ROI customers. Offers subject to change.Pedro Neto: Situation summaryPedro Neto is a 26-year-old Portuguese winger who gives Chelsea pace, directness and a real 1v1 threat from wide areas. He is at his best driving at full-backs, carrying the ball into advanced zones and delivering early crosses or cut-backs, with Chelsea also using him across the front line for his flexibility. That versatility matters because Neto is not just a touchline winger; he can also work inside, play off the striker or help as a transition outlet when Chelsea want to attack space quickly. The trade-off is that his end product can still swing from game to game, so his value is often as much about how he stretches defences as raw goals and assists.Chelsea signed him on a long-term deal through 2031, which gives the club strong control over his future. For now, he looks more like a protected asset than a likely sale, although Barcelona have been monitoring him and would need to deal with Chelseas price demands if they made a serious move.0 Comments 0 Shares 50 Views 0 Reviews
