The second crash set Kuss back further. Despite avoiding what could have been a fatal accident, he recovered yet again. However, he lost enough time behind Ecuadorian cyclist Richard Carapaz to finish third in the stage, 31 seconds behind Carapaz and five behind Belgiums Remco Evenepoel. Had Kuss finished first on Saturday, he would have been the first American to win a stage in five years. Kuss was actually the last U.S. cyclist to win a stage, finishing first in Stage 15 in 2021 riding from Cret to Andorra la Vella. Gotham FC defender Emily Sonnett was stretchered off with a suspected knee injury in Friday's 2-2 draw at the Portland Thorns.Sonnett, a mainstay in the back line for Gotham and the U.S. women's national team, went down with a non-contact injury just seven minutes in at Providence Park. The veteran planted awkwardly in the artificial turf and went to ground, eventually needing a stretcher to exit the pitch."Gotham FC defender Emily Sonnett left Friday's match at Portland with a suspected left knee injury. It will now be an agonising wait for the Wales women's gymnastics squad following their fine performance in the team event in Glasgow. After a good start on the uneven bars, Wales wobbled slightly on the balance beam before finishing with strong performances on the floor and vault.Wales lead after the second rotation with a score of 153.400, but there are still four teams left to go.England, Australia, Canada and South Africa compete in the final session and Wales will know that 152.700 was enough for Canada to take bronze at Birmingham 2022.Wales' only previous medal in the Women's team event was bronze in Glasgow 12 years ago. The 2026 quintet of twins Emily and Abigail Roper, Ruby Evans, Jemima Taylor and Frank Stone will now sit and wait to see if they end up on the podium on Saturday night.

The Orioles will counter with the big 27-year-old righty Brandon Young. Bryce had a good start to the season, but has had a rough time recently. That said, he was reportedly dealing with some fatigue and had a better start coming out of the All-Star break, so lets hope that was him getting back on track a bit. He still profiles as a back of the rotation starter on average, with season numbers basically in line with his career average, but the variance can be pretty wide with him from game to game. Hes been throwing his cutter and sinker a decent bit more in June and July, so that will be something interesting to keep an eye on as we hope for another good Bryce Elder night. Brandon Young has less than a year of MLB service time, but is nearly 28. Through 28 starts and 149 innings, the 66 righty has a career 4.53 xFIP and 4.43 FIP, but his ERA is a nice 3.25 this year. His fastball is a tick below average velo and he shows average extension, but he has some nice induced vertical break on the pitch that makes it play well from a moderately high 43 degree arm angle. He mixes in a splitter, slider, sinker, and curve off of his four-seamer, but the four-seamer is by far the most impressive pitch of the bunch. As such, he only strikes out 7.31 batters per 9 innings, walking a solid 3.26. He isnt an especially impressive pitcher, so if the Braves can avoid chasing his sub-par secondaries, they should be able to find some success.
