SPORTS.YAHOO.COMNBA Eastern Conference Power Rankings: LeBron to Philly moves Sixers behind Knicks in East raceLeBron James is headed to Philadelphia, and as a result, realistic title expectations are going with him. The Knicks claiming the 2026 NBA championship in an emphatic 4-1 gentlemans sweep of the San Antonio Spurs sent the Eastern Conference into a frenzy. Teams feverishly shifted their rosters for a chance at the next title run, a shot at the Knicks throne. And LeBrons decision was the last order of business for multiple teams setting their rosters mid-summer. Heres how his move to Philly impacts the East power rankings.15. MILWAUKEE BUCKSKey Losses: F Giannis Antetokounmpo, F Bobby PortisKey Additions: G Tyler Herro, C Kelel Ware, F Jaime Jaquez Jr., G Kasparas Jakucionis, F Nate Ament, 2031 and 2033 first-round picksThe Bucks will be a scrappy team. Tyler Herro will score tons of points. And Milwaukee will be hunting for top draft status for years to come, with the goal of finding the next Giannis Antetokounmpo.14. NETSKey Losses: C Nic Claxton (via CHI)Key Additions: F Julius Randle (via MIN), G Mikel Brown (No. 6), F Joshua Jefferson (No. 28 via MIN), F Moritz Wagner (via ORL), G Keon Ellis (via CLE), F Tyler Bilodeau (No. 43 via LAC)The Nets got better. The problem is the rest of the East did, too. As a result, almost every team in the conference, Brooklyn included, will be chasing 30 wins, minimum. The Nets, whove paired Julius Randle and Michael Porter Jr. while finding a hit in the draft with Mikel Brown at No. 6, have the pieces to reach the mark.13. INDIANA PACERSKey Additions: Tyrese Haliburton (IR)A calendar year can change so much. So can an Achilles injury. The Pacers were one win away from an NBA title two seasons ago. Now, theyll be lucky to make the Play-In in an Eastern Conference suddenly more stacked than the West, even if Haliburton is back in action.THE PLAY-IN CLUSTER12. CHICAGO BULLSKey Additions: F Caleb Wilson (No. 4), G Norman Powell, C Nic Claxton (via BKN)The Bulls could end up near the top of the play-in cluster. They play fast, free and fun, and Caleb Wilson could end up the best player in the stacked 2026 draft class.11. ORLANDO MAGICKey Losses: F Mo WagnerKey Additions: C Nikola VucevicThe Magic season ends the same way every year: in the infirmary, plagued by poor guard play. Orlando cant generate consistent offense in the back court. Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner cant stay on the floor more than seven games at a time. And they just fired Jamahl Mosley, a quality head coach, for Sean Sweeney, a first-time head coach.10. WASHINGTON WIZARDSKey Additions: F A.J. Dybantsa (No. 1), C Deandre Ayton (via LAL), F Khris Middleton, C Anthony Davis (IR), G Trae Young (IR)The Wizards will be fun. Theyll be good. But will they be a serious threat to an Eastern Conference playoff spot? That hinges on Anthony Davis, who is hardly ever healthy, and whether or not Trae Young can unlock the hidden potential of one of the NBAs more talent-rich pools of young players.9. TORONTO RAPTORSKey Losses: F Kawhi LeonardKey Additions: F Kyle Anderson, F Kawhi LeonardThe Raptors were title contenders for about seven minutes. Right up until the NBA vetoed the Kawhi Leonard trade as it continues its investigation into the allegations he circumvented the salary cap to collect even more money from the L.A. Clippers. That deal isnt getting done any time soon, if ever. Which means theres some relationship-mending to do with Brandon Ingram, who was on the first plane out in the deal for the former Raptors star.8. ATLANTA HAWKSKey Losses: G Zaccharie RisacherKey Additions: G Lu Dort (via OKC), G Aaron Wiggins (via OKC), G Ryan Nembhard (via DAL), G Devin Carter (via SAC), G Kingston Flemings (No. 8), F Zuby Ejiofor (No. 23), C Henri Veesar (No. 52)The Hawks gave the Knicks problems in the first round of the playoffs. Theyve added significant depth, but the starting lineup firepower after the Trae Young trade remains in question for a team that relied heavily on soon-to-be 37-year-old C.J. McCollum for offense last season.7. CHARLOTTE HORNETSKey Losses: G LaMelo Ball, F Miles BridgesKey Additions: F Naz Reid, G Grayson Allen, F Dorian Finney-Smith, F Royce ONeale (via PHX), C Hannes Steinbech (No. 14), G Christian Anderson Jr. (No. 18)What a gamble: Trade the former face of the franchise and one of NBA historys most polarizing personalities to go all-in on a first-year sharpshooter and a PR overhaul. The Hornets traded LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges for role players and draft picks. Charlotte will promote Coby White to starting point guard. And the captain title? It belongs to Kon Kneuppel, who can now call the Hornets his team along with its win-loss record at the end of the year.THE TOP SIX6. DETROIT PISTONSKey Losses: F Tobias HarrisKey Additions: G Isaiah Joe (via OKC), F John Collins (via LAC), G Ebuka Okorie (No. 17), G Gary HarrisSixty wins and nothing to show for it. The Pistons had some shaking up to do this summer. Out went Tobias Harris. In came a fleet of role players tasked with alleviating the burden Cade Cunningham has carried to generate all of Detroits offense. Theres still unfinished business: The Pistons have to either re-sign Jalen Duren or find a trade for him that makes sense. Theyre dire in need of a second star on offense, however, and John Collins is not the solution.5. CLEVELAND CAVALIERSKey Losses: F LeBron James, G Keon Ellis, F Dean WadeKey Additions: G Meleek Thomas (No. 34)LeBron mightve chosen the Cavaliers had they never traded Darius Garland for James Harden. But they did, and in doing so, they got significantly older and less dynamic at the point guard spot in the blink of an eye. The Cavaliers did not make many meaningful roster additions this offseason. They still need to agree to terms on a deal to re-sign Harden. And once they do, theyll have the duo of Harden and Donovan Mitchell attempting, once again, to lead the Cavs to unfamiliar territory: back to the Finals for the first time since LeBron left them for the Lakers.4. MIAMI HEATKey Losses: F LeBron James, G Tyler Herro, C Kelel Ware, F Jaime Jaquez Jr., G Kasparas Jakucionis, F Nate Ament, 2031 and 2033 first-round picksKey Additions: F Giannis Antetokounmpo, F Bobby Portis, F DeMar DeRozanSorry, South Beach, the plane landed elsewhere. Maybe the intern cost Miami big-time after all. Or maybe LeBron saw a better opportunity to compete for a title elsewhere. He will still have to go through his old stomping grounds, the place Giannis Antetokounmpo now calls home. Antetokounmpo, Bam Adebayo, Andrew Wiggins and DeMar DeRozan make for a tough out, but there are at least three teams that could be better in the East given Miamis need for perimeter shooting and guardplay.3. BOSTON CELTICSKey Losses: G Jaylen BrownKey Additions: C Mitchell Robinson, F Paul GeorgeHealthy Jaylen Brown, injured Jayson Tatum? The Celtics ended up the Easts No. 2 seed. Healthy Jayson Tatum, no Jaylen Brown? Bostons about to find out what its franchise cornerstone is made of. The Celtics traded away their Finals MVP. This is the Tatum Show in Tatums city. And now, all of the pressure in Beantown rests on the shoulders of one player, not two. It is the decision set to make or break Brad Stevens legacy. The Celtics are still dangerous, but its unclear whether adding Mitchell Robinson and Paul George make them true title contenders again.2. PHILADELPHIA 76ERSKey Losses: F Paul George (via BOS)Key Additions: G Jaylen Brown (via BOS), F LeBron James, F Dean WadeThe Knicks ended a 53-year title drought. Can the 76ers end one thats lasted 43 years? If anyone can do it, its LeBron James (right?), whos won an NBA title at every stop of his Hall of Fame career. James and Jaylen Brown join a Sixers team the Knicks swept in a hostile takeover of Phillys Xfinity Mobile Arena in the second round.1. KNICKSKey Losses: C Mitchell Robinson (via BOS), C Ariel Hukporti (via PHI)Key Additions: C Andre Drummond; re-signed G Landry Shamet, G Jose Alvarado, G Jordan Clarkson and F Mohamed DiawaraTo be the best, youve got to beat the best and its been a long time since anyones beaten the Knicks. They are your reigning NBA champions, winners of 13 straight playoff games, enders of a 53-year championship drought. The Knicks are, until further notice, the best team in the NBA. They are the team to beat, no matter where LeBron signed this summer.0 Comments 0 Shares 40 Views 0 Reviews -

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMRavens to sign veteran offensive lineman Hakeem AdenijiThe Baltimore Ravens plan to sign veteran offensive lineman Hakeem Adeniji, according to ESPNs Jeremy Fowler, adding another experienced and versatile blocker to a unit that has undergone significant change this offseason.Adeniji worked out for the Ravens before the team decided to add him. The 28-year-old has appeared in 55 regular-season games with 16 starts since entering the NFL as a sixth-round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals in 2020. He spent last season with the Dallas Cowboys, appearing in 12 games and making one start at left guard. Adeniji has also spent time with the Minnesota Vikings and Cleveland Browns. The Ravens plan to sign veteran OL Hakeem Adeniji, per source. Adeniji has 16 career starts since 2029, including one with Dallas last year. Jeremy Fowler (@JFowlerESPN) July 25, 2026The 6-foot-4, 302-pound Adeniji offers experience at tackle and guard, giving Baltimore another option as it evaluates its offensive line combinations during training camp. He made 15 of his starts during three seasons with Cincinnati and started at right guard in Super Bowl LVI. His only start for Dallas came at left guard, where he helped the Cowboys produce 180 rushing yards despite playing without several starters, according to the Cowboys official website.Adeniji does not necessarily arrive with a direct path to a starting job. His immediate value comes from his ability to provide competition and experienced depth at multiple positions. That flexibility can become particularly valuable during training camp, when injuries and shifting combinations often test the depth of an offensive line.Baltimore has already added veteran center Ethan Pocic and brought back guard John Simpson while reshaping the group in front of Lamar Jackson. Adeniji represents another low-risk move designed to strengthen the units floor. The Ravens will still need to evaluate how much Adeniji can contribute, but his experience and positional flexibility give him a legitimate opportunity to earn a reserve role. This article originally appeared on Ravens Wire: Ravens to sign veteran offensive lineman Hakeem Adeniji0 Comments 0 Shares 39 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMWrexham bow out of Women's Champions League qualifyingWrexham won the Adran Premier for the first time in 2025-26 [Getty Images]Wrexham's debut European campaign came to an end after a 4-1 defeat against Latvian side Riga FC in the Women's Champions League qualifying second round. The Adran Premier champions had led 1-0 until the 50th minute after Lili Jones scored her second European goal to give them an early lead at the Racecourse. But Latvian title holders Riga turned the first qualifying round final in their favour with quickfire goals from Minami Oi and Kumba Brima after the restart.Laura Kallase and Shiori Kato added further goals as the dominant Latvian champions ensured progression to the second round. It was Wrexham, who beat Armenian champions FC Pyunik 4-2 in their Champions League debut on Wednesday, that started brightest.Jones, scorer of Wrexham's second in the semi-final, reacted quickest to Riga's half-clearance and volleyed the hosts ahead in the ninth minute.Riga FC's Kumba Brima scored twice as they beat Glentoran on Wednesday [Getty Images]Riga were a threat down the wings after falling behind against the run of play and nearly levelled when Nikola Preijere fizzed past the post.Yet, it was Wrexham that went closest to a second first-half goal as Faye Knox and Natasha Thomas nearly extended their lead before the break.Riga's wide-area threat did pay off soon after the restart when Japanese midfielder Oi ventured forward and beat Maria Francis-Jones to head home. The turnaround was complete four minutes later. Sierra Leone's Brima rolled through the onrushing legs of Liz Craven.Riga won all 24 of their league games in 2025, and that quality shone through as teenage substitute Kallase and Kato added a third and fourth goal respectively.Latest Wrexham news, analysis and fan viewsWrexham AFC0 Comments 0 Shares 48 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMWhat is an NBA offer sheet? Explaining OKC's move on Spencer JonesWith an open roster spot, the Oklahoma City Thunder added a new face. Well sorta. For the first time in years, they're playing the restricted free agent game. They signed Denver Nuggets' Spencer Jones to a two-year, $12 million offer sheet. So, what exactly is an NBA offer sheet? It's a contract that restricted free agents sign. Their original team will have 48 hours to either match it or see them leave for a new basketball home. In this case, the Nuggets will have until 10:59 p.m. CT on Sunday, July 26 to make a decision.Offer sheets are only a possibility for restricted free agents. After going undrafted in the 2024 NBA draft, Jones spent two seasons on the Nuggets. He eventually worked his way up from a two-way player to getting converted to a standard deal in Feb. 2026.Jones averaged 5.5 points on 50.4% shooting and 3.3 rebounds this past season. He shot 39.6% from 3 on 2.2 attempts. The 25-year-old was a starter in 37 out of his 64 regular-season games. Because of Denver's financial crunch to avoid the second apron, it'll be interesting to see if it matches OKC's offer sheet. Right now, I'd lean towards no. But I think it's a coin toss. The Thunder seldom play the restricted free agent game. But Jones provided a unique opportunity. He's clearly an NBA bench piece. And his undrafted status helped him hit the open market sooner than most players of his status. Let's see if the Nuggets can keep one of their best recent developmental stories. This article originally appeared on OKC Thunder Wire: What is an NBA offer sheet? SPORTS.YAHOO.COMKilmallie beat favourites Lovat to lift Ferguson Balliemore Cup[BBC]Kilmallie survived a fierce three-goal comeback from favourites Lovat to win the Ferguson Balliemore Cup, shinty's intermediate title, 4-3 at Spean Bridge.Meanwhile, the MKM Oban MacAulay Cup final in Oban on 22 August will match Oban Camanachd and holders Kingussie for the fifth year in a row following Camanachd's 10-0 rout of Kyles, while Kingussie defeated Skye 4-0 in the other semi-final.Newtonmore went seven points clear in the Mowi Premiership but with two extra games played following a 5-0 away win over Caberfeidh, while Kinlochshiel and Fort William drew 2-2 at Rearaig. And a 5-1 defeat of Glasgow Mid Argyll at Yoker sent Glenurquhart four points clear in the National Division but with two extra games played.Despite trailing well behind Lovat in the league, Kilmallie rushed to a 3-0 lead in just half an hour of the Ferguson Balliemore Cup final through a Calum MacDougall double and Shane O'Rua. When Archie MacNiven made it 4-0 just before the hour, it looked all over until Lovat's response from Danny Kelly and two from Craig MacKinnon. However, unlike the previous Saturday, where Lovat came back from 2-0 down to claim league victory over the same opponents, Kilmallie held on to win the trophy for the first time since 2018.At Mossfield, Oban Camanachd ran riot with hat-tricks from Ross Campbell and Lewis Cameron along with singles from Lorne Dickie, Connor Howe, Malcolm Clark and Callum MacMillan.Skye made it difficult for Kingussie in the first half at Beauly, restricting the holders to a single early goal from veteran Lee Bain. So it remained until after the hour, when the floodgates opened with Bain's second, bookended by strikes from Thomas Borthwick and Toby Thain.Newtonmore kept the Premiership title race in their own hands when Euan Dingwall's goal in the opening minute was followed by Iain Robinson, Arron MacBean and Matthew Sloss in the first half and another from Robinson in the second.Rory Barclay and Archie MacRae gave Kinlochshiel a 2-0 half-time lead, but Fort grabbed a point after the interval with goals from Victor Smith and Ewen Campbell, who was later red carded.Mid Argyll's Calum Morrison responded to a double from Glen's Daniel MacLean, but after the interval, Glen stretched away with strikes from Ail MacLean, Neale Reid and Charlie MacLeod. Glenurquhart now only need a maximum of three points from their last four games to secure a return to the Premiership.Troubled Oban Celtic failed to raise a team to travel to Bute and were docked two points taking them to minus two - and the game will be rescheduled.0 Comments 0 Shares 57 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMNeil Everett found out he lost his Trail Blazers job by reading about it in ForbesPhoto credit: The Dan Patrick ShowNeil Everett received neither a phone call nor an email notifying him of his own dismissal. The Trail Blazers simply excised him from their broadcast roster this week, and he absorbed the news the same way the general public did, inside a Forbes column detailing new owner Tom Dundons sweeping overhaul of the organizations broadcast operation.I read about it in Forbes, the former SportsCenter anchor told Front Office Sports.Everetts dismissal is the latest casualty of Dundons staggering $4.25 billion acquisition of the Trail Blazers, a purchase that arrived alongside an immediate, aggressive campaign of cost-cutting across the entire organization. This weeks broadcast purge claimed longtime television analyst Michael Holton, a fixture of Blazers coverage for nearly two decades, alongside statistician Tom Haberstroh and fellow host Jamie Hudson, in addition to Everett himself.Everetts tenure in Portland was, in truth, a second act, one that followed a considerably longer and more celebrated run at ESPN. He joined the network in 2000 after spending more than a decade cutting his teeth in Hawaii local news, established himself as one of ESPNs most beloved and instantly recognizable personalities, prized for his effortless wit, his signature Bartender, Jack home run call, and an Aloha sign-off that became a trademark unto itself.Beginning in 2009, he anchored the late-night, West Coast edition of SportsCenter alongside Stan Verrett, forging a partnership widely remembered as one of the shows defining duos.Everett had already anticipated his own demise at the Worldwide Leader, reading the shifting winds inside Bristol long before the network made anything official. Hed already consented to a diminished workload and considerably reduced compensation in his final contract there, and he later confided to Richard Deitsch that hed known the writing was on the wall well before his 2023 exit, which is why hed already begun cultivating an alternative foothold with the Trail Blazers as a studio host back in 2021. By March 2023, a full three months before ESPNs decision became official, he was already hosting a pair of Blazers LegendCasts, alongside former players Antonio Harvey and Terry Porter. That June, his 14-year collaboration with Verrett finally dissolved amid Disneys sweeping company-wide cost reductions. He and Verrett later reunited for a Twitch show together once Verretts own ESPN tenure concluded in 2025 with the closure of the networks Los Angeles studio, the same studio that had once housed their nightly partnership. Now, Everett is figuring out life after ESPN for the second time, minus the years of warning he had the first time around. The post Neil Everett found out he lost his Trail Blazers job by reading about it in Forbes appeared first on Awful Announcing.0 Comments 0 Shares 58 Views 0 Reviews
