The FSU Seminoles already have two commitments in the 2028 recruiting cycle, but none are along the offensive line. Herb Hand, who has struggled to recruit high school prospects, is working to change that.One of their newest targets is Aiden Giles, a three-star offensive tackle from Clermont, Florida. FSU was one of several power programs to offer him a scholarship in June, doing so on June 21. That was a special moment for Giles, who discussed it with Zach Blostein of 247Sports. "Florida State, they offered on a Facetime call with the o-line coach," he said. "I'm good with all of the assistant o-line coaches, the head o-line coach and it's definitely in my top five favorite schools I like right now."Giles is ranked as the No. 369 overall player and No. 34 offensive tackle in the 247Sports composite. He is also the No. 54 player from Florida.While he has not scheduled his next visit to Tallahassee, he told Blostein that the Seminoles are one of several programs he plans to visit during the 2026 season. When the Arizona Cardinals reconvene Tuesday for practice after a day off Monday, it will feature quarterback Jacoby Brissett working with the starters for the first time since practice began last Wednesday.That was solidified when Brissett signed a restructured contract Sunday that increases his compensation this season from a base salary of $4.88 million to a reported $15.5 million in guaranteed compensation with the ability to earn another $6 million with incentives.The breakdown will be known in the coming days, with it possible there is a signing bonus along with void years that will mitigate the salary cap charge.Prior to the deal, Brissetts cap figure was $9.19 million, which was sixth on the team. If the entire $10.62 million increase counts against the cap this year, that total would raise the cap charge to $19.81 million and create the highest total on the current roster, just north of safety Budda Bakers $19.22 million cap hit.The Cardinals are carrying $46.57 million in dead money against the cap following the release of quarterback Kyler Murray.If, for example, there is a $6 million signing bonus as part of the $15.5 million total, along with two void years, only $2 million of the bonus would count this year. That would lower the potential cap charge by $4 million.Its not out of the question that the Cardinals elected to have all the new money count this year because their current cap space available for the top 51 players is $35.05 million, according tooverthecap.com.However, there might be more money coming off the cap this year if there is a contract extension with left tackle Paris Johnson Jr., whose current charge is $8.93 million.As for the incentives, there could be statistical accomplishments and/or money earned for games the Cardinals win with Brissett as the starter. Tom Alsop will leave Sussex for Gloucestershire at the end of the season [Getty Images]Tom Alsop is to bring the curtain down on five years at Sussex after agreeing a move to Gloucestershire at the end of the current season.The 30-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman has made big contributions in both red and white ball cricket since arriving at Hove, initially on loan from Hampshire in 2022.Alsop was a key member of the Championship side which achieved promotion to Division One in 2024, a season in which the T20 side made it to the Blast finals day.He has also played Hundred cricket for Trent Rockets and Sunrisers Leeds as well as Big Bash with Brisbane Heat.Speaking to the club website, both Alsop and head coach Paul Farbrace conceded Sussex's financial troubles have contributed to the move."Tommy is a high quality player and has shown that on many occasions, in all forms [of the game]. It is with sadness that our financial situation has made it necessary for Tommy to move on," said Farbrace.Sussex, who have been docked points in all competitions and placed in special measures by the ECB for "sustained operating losses" are also under salary cap restrictions until 2028. Alsop added: "It's with a heavy heart that I've made this decision, knowing that the picture is uncertain over my future here with the club's financial position. "However, I've got to think about my family and what's best going forward with an offer from Gloucestershire CCC and as professional cricketer at my stage security is very important."

The Commanders announced a change to their coaching staff a couple of days before their first practice of training camp. The team announced that they are parting ways with tight ends coach Ben Steele. The announcement adds that the team will have no further comment at this time. Any move involving a member of the staff would lead to questions for head coach Dan Quinn and the timing of this one ensures Quinn will be asked about the decision in his first press conference of training camp this week. Steele was hired by Washington this offseason. He spent the last three seasons as the Cardinals' tight ends coach and has also worked for the Broncos, Vikings, Falcons and Buccaneers over the course of his coaching career.
