The Spartans were very patient and cautious with Glenn's recovery, and it seems like all restrictions have now been lifted and he's ready to contribute this season.On paper, Glenn is everything Michigan State has needed on the wing for years. Luke Weaver will pitch for yet another team, as the 11-year veteran has been traded by the Mets to the Pirates before the deadline, per MLB Network. Weaver was one of the more appealing trade targets on the market, as one of the few high-end relievers available. The 32-year-old right-hander is having the best season of his career to this point, as he has a 1.84 ERA through 44 innings while keeping the ball in the park more often than in the past. He signed a two-year, $22 million deal with New York this past offseason, following a two season and change run with the Yankees, where he produced a 3.22 ERA over 162 innings with 10.6 strikeouts per nine. Weaver is owed $12.5 million in 2027, but that additional season meant he was more than just a two-month rental. Weaver was one of the only bright spots among Mets brought to the roster in 2026: starting pitcher Freddy Peralta struggled after he was acquired from the Brewers, free agent infielder Bo Bichette only started hitting like he did with the Blue Jays in mid-June and ex-Mariners slugger Jorge Polanco has been injured and ineffective. Weaver, though, seemingly improved in a way that made him attractive at the deadline to Pittsburgh. Weaver will slot right into the Pirates' underwhelming bullpen, which has a 4.34 ERA as a unit. While he could always regress from this career-best form, Weaver was also a high-quality reliever prior to joining the Mets even previous versions of his work would be a boon to Pittsburgh's efforts.

After missing out on Tarik Skubal, the Milwaukee Brewers reportedly have swung a deal to bolster their rotation. Per The Athletics Ken Rosenthal, the Brewers acquired veteran starter Dustin May and reliever Jo Jo Romero from the rival St. Louis Cardinals Monday, hours before MLBs 6 p.m. ET trade deadline. The return on the deal that was not initially reported.May, 28, is a seventh-season MLB veteran who won a World Series with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2020. The Dodgers traded him at last seasons deadline to the Boston Red Sox, and May joined the Cardinals as a free agent last offseason on a one-year, $12.5 million deal.The Brewers made the deal after failing to acquire Skubal, the two-time Cy Young winner that Milwaukee reportedly coveted. Skubal instead went from the Detroit Tigers to the Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukees top rival in the National League. In 21 starts this season, May has a 4.38 ERA and 1.284 WHIP with 106 strikeouts and 35 walks in 109 innings pitch. He bolsters the rotation for a Brewers team that entered Monday with the best record in baseball at 69-42. In it, players are graded on six categories: accuracy (25 points), processing (20), arm talent, decision-making, pocket presence (15 apiece) and leadership (10).Jets' Geno Smith ranked No. 29 in NFL quarterback rankingsOf course, nobody thought Smith would be ranked No. 1 on this list. But, he's in a pretty tough spot at No. 29. He's in the "functional performer" section."Geno Smith is coming off a disappointing season and a rough two-year stretch. He has turned the ball over at an alarming rate (32 INTs) in that span," Bleacher Report notes.But, the good news is that Bleacher Report has some kind things to say about him. "He hasn't declined physically or with accuracy," they note. "He can still drive the ball well and drop passes in the bucket. His issues stem from being under heavy pressure.
