Manchester United are set to appoint former Hearts boss Eva Olid as their new head coach.The Athleticreported on Monday United and head coach Marc Skinner had mutually agreed to terminate his contract, bringing an end to his five-year tenure.The club had been working on appointing a new head coach quickly, with the new Womens Super League season just one month away, and are expected to name Olid as Skinners successor, according to sources with knowledge of the situation. The team are set to have their first meeting with her at lunch time on Wednesday.Olid, 40, has been out of management since departing Hearts at the end of the 2025-26 season after leading the club to their maiden Scottish Womens Premier League (SWPL) title.The club announced in April a mutual agreement had been reached to terminate her contract at the end of the campaign after nearly five years with the Scottish club.Despite Olids impending exit, Hearts secured the league title on a dramatic final day in May, losing to Edinburgh rivals Hibernian but with second place Rangers unable to capitalise.Before moving to Scotland, the Catalan coach previously worked at Houston Dynamo. She joined Hearts in July 2021, with the club having finished bottom of the SWPL.Skinners resignation came following frustrations regarding the direction of the womens team at United, and specifically investment. French coach Herve Renard has returned to take over Ivory Coast, who he led to the African title in 2015, the Ivorian federation has announced in a statement.Renard, who was an emergency replacement for Tunisia during the World Cup in June, replaces Emerse Fae.Faes deal was not renewed after the World Cup despite the Ivorians reaching the knockout stages for the first time in four appearances before being eliminated by Norway in the last 32.Renard was parachuted in during the World Cup to take over Tunisia after they lost their opening game 5-1 against Sweden.But he had little success in reviving their fortunes as the Tunisians then lost to Japan and the Netherlands, conceding a further seven goals.They were the only one of the 10 African teams at the World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States that did not progress to the round of 32.The 57-year-old Renard has also coached the national teams of Angola, Morocco, Saudi Arabia and Zambia, with whom he won the Africa Cup of Nations title in 2012.His stint with Saudi Arabia ended on the eve of the FIFA World Cup 2026, despite helping the team qualify for the tournament.Renard was also coach of Frances womens team at the Paris Olympic Games two years ago.He will aim for a third Cup of Nations title next year when the tournament is cohosted in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.The Ivorians begin their qualifying campaign next month with a crunch clash at home to fellow World Cup side and neighbours Ghana, before another Group C game with Somalia four days later.

We are in August, which means national polls and preseason rankings will be all the talk over the next month before games kick off. On Tuesday, the US LBM Coaches Poll released its preseason rankings, and while the Colorado Buffaloes were far from making the top 25, four Big 12 teams made the cut.Texas Tech, the reigning Big 12 champion, unsurprisingly is the highest-ranked Big 12 team, coming in at No. 12 in the rankings. BYU is right behind them at No. 15, with Utah (No. 21) and Houston (No. 24) rounding out the Big 12 representation.TCU (63 votes), Arizona (50 votes), Arizona State (8 votes) and Kansas State (1 vote) were the four Big 12 teams in the receiving votes categories. OU women's gymnastics star Faith Torrez has received the SEC's top honor for a female athlete.Torrez was named the 2025-26 Roy F. Kramer SEC Female Athlete of the Year, the league announced Tuesday morning. She is the first OU student-athlete, male or female, to receive the SEC's highest individual honor. Auburn golfer Jackson Koivun was named the SEC Male Athlete of the Year.Im incredibly honored to be named SEC Athlete of the Year, said in a release. This recognition means so much because its a reflection of the people who have supported me throughout my journey. Im grateful to my coaches, support staff, teammates, family, and everyone at the University of Oklahoma who has believed in me and pushed me to be my best. Im proud to represent OU and the SEC, and Im thankful for the opportunity to compete alongside so many amazing athletes. She made her all-around season debut at the NCAA Championship Semifinals, posting a 39.7875 to claim the national title.The Bristol, Wisconsin, product is a three-time NCAA team champion, two-time NCAA individual champion, 13-time NCAA All-American and 10-time WCGA All-American.
