They'll wear the throwbacks twice under the lights of prime time (Sunday Night Football vs the Chiefs, and Monday Night Football vs the Cowboys) and one game with their Nike Rivalries (Christmas Day vs the Rams). the NFL allows teams up to four games to wear alternate uniforms, and I was wondering what the Seahawks were planning to do with their final option. Now we know, and I couldn't be more pleased. Especially since the Broncos will be participating as well.Sadly, this does appear to mean the Seahawks will be sidelining their Action Green alternates for one more season. I know they are controversial among the 12th Man, but I personally love them. Alas, we wait for 2027 at the earliest to see if they return! Seattle will aim to change their luck with these double-throwback games. The Seahawks have played in two of these games, both of which were losses. The Minnesota Vikings named Kyler Murray the starting quarterback on Tuesday afternoon, eliminating any doubt that the veteran was going to be beaten out by J.J. McCarthy.After starting seven seasons with the Cardinals, Murray signed a one-year deal for the veteran minimum with the Vikings, a place where he wanted to go. A former guard, Rutledge has transformed into a solid center prospect, winning the starting job as Houston prepares for its first preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers.But Rutledge hasn't been afraid to throw it back at the defense after reps, including some of Houston's top players. On the first day of padded practice, he and linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair sparred for a second once the whistle blew. KV Mechelen bolster defence by signing Norwegian defender from SunderlandKV Mechelen have announced the signing of Leo Hjelde from Sunderland. The former Celtic defender has signed a deal with KV Mechelen in the Belgian Pro League until 2029, with an option in place to extend this by another season. KV Mechelen have not done much business this summer despite a decent campaign last year and losing some of their key players from that success. The 22-year-old should certainly add to the KV Mechelen defence.Hjelde leaves Sunderland having played just 30 games for the Black Cats since joining in 2024. Prior to playing for Sunderland, Hjelde had been with Leeds since 2021, although he only played nine games for the Yorkshire side, with the back end of the 2022/2023 season spent out on loan at Rotherham. The Norwegian youth international had been part of the Celtic set up until he joined Leeds, but did not make any senior appearances for the Glasgow side. He played a few months with Ross County during 2021. Last season, Hjelde was not part of the Sunderland side that had a fantastic season back in the Premier League. Instead, the Norwegian defender was loaned out by Sunderland to Sheffield United in the Championship, where he played eight games. The injuries just won't stop for the Denver Broncos. Broncos backup offensive lineman Michael Deiter was carted off the practice field on Tuesday with an undisclosed injury. With starting center Luke Wattenberg and primary backup Alex Forsyth already injured, Denver is now down to just versatile backup lineman Calvin Throckmorton and undrafted rookie Gavin Ortega at center. Despite three injuries at the position, Denver coach Sean Payton does not seem to be concerned. "We'll work through it," Payton said after Tuesday's practice. "We have guys that are flexible. Sometimes, when we get an unrelated cameo on Hard Knocks, it's a juicy little tidbit that is sure to spark some unintended conversation. That's exactly what might happen with a clip from the latest episode featuring San Antonio Spurs general manager Brian Wright and head coach Mitch Johnson chatting with Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald. The discussion concerns Wright and Johnson expanding on the Spurs' initial process in trying to get young phenom Victor Wembanyama onto their team. Wright and Johnson claimed that the Spurs knew Wembanyama would be special when they saw him at age 16. From there, they put a "plan in motion" to "turn the team over" about a year later in an effort to put themselves in as good a position as possible to draft Wembanyama. Hmm, turn the team over? You mean ... make the Spurs worse for draft lottery odds? The Spurs notably had a paltry 22-60 record in the season they earned the No. 1 overall pick that allowed them to draft Wembanyama.
