Regarding the Colts QB2 competition behind Jones with Richardson and Leonard as the challengers, neither backup quarterback has clearly separated himself from the other throughout training camp so far. Preseason could be an ideal opportunity for either backup quarterback to make their case for the QB2 job. Regarding Richardson, hes still made the occasional highlight reel throw in Colts camp, but its just a matter of achieving greater consistency. Of critical importance for Richardson will be showing that some of the fumbled snap issues hes had in training camp are just an aberration and not a lingering issue of potential vision loss. Colts head coach Shane Steichen cant accept unnecessary turnoversand rightfully so, no coach could. For what its worth, Leonard, whos also had an up-and-down camp so far, reportedly had a strong showing running with the 2s during Tuesday mornings joint training camp practice with the Patriots just ahead of the two teams Week 1 preseason game.

Combined with the 11 nonconference games already announced, we now know 29 of 32 regular season games for Eric Olens second season as head coach.The league does not yet know when its media rights partners will be selecting which games to broadcast when, meaning and of the 18 conference games revealed Tuesday could still be shifted on day to accommodate television broadcasts (Tuesday games can shift to Wednesdays, Saturday games can shift to Friday night).But of the league games we do know, there are some decent storylines to grab hold of, even if the league clearly isn't going to be as strong in men's basketball in its new conference makeup as it was in the previous iteration before Utah State, Boise State, San Diego State, Fresno State and Colorado State defected to join this season the relaunch of the Pac-12.UNM opens the new Mountain West season on Jan. 2 at UTEP.The last time UNM and UTEP played as conference rivals was on Feb. 20, 1999, in the Pit in a late-season WAC tilt. As impenetrable as the Fever have been to everything around them, the noise broke through over the weekend and touched a nerve.Publicly, Indiana head coach Stephanie White used her pregame press conference to offer a fiery defense of her character amid criticisms that she didnt do enough to defend her player, Sophie Cunningham, after a hard foul in Saturdays win over the Sky.Privately, her superstar guard, Caitlin Clark, promised to have her back. Clark and the Fever stepped up in defense of her coach, first on the court as they downed the Liberty for their seventh win in nine games. Then, they took to the podium postgame and made their feelings on their head coach known.I talked to Steph earlier in the day, too, and I think we forget a lot of times, like, were human and she has feelings, Clark said. Theres moments that are really hard and sometimes thats just the job you sign up for, but at the same time, its OK to feel those emotions and I just told her, like, Ive been through the same thing. Theres been days where Ive been really upset and you can have the thickest skin in the world, but sometimes it does get to you. I think our world is just, we love to hate, we love to divide, Clark added. Like, thats all we want to do. Nobody wants to see each other succeed and I think thats a really painful thing for myself to watch. I feel like we need to do a better job at uplifting each other. I can assure you there was no way we were losing this game tonight, and I told her that before the game. There was no way we were losing this game for her.However isolated the noise may have felt over the weekend, as it largely came from a vocal minority, it spilled over enough to lead to boos during pregame introductions when White was announced. Clark, who has ardently defended White this season, offered her strongest defense yet, calling out those fans who booed pregame.Its tough, Clark added. Thats my head coach. I hated that our fans booed her before the game. That made me a little sick, to be honest. And you can disagree and this and that, and I get it. Its professional sports. People are going to boo, but at the end of the day, thats our head coach and were going to ride for her and were always going to have her back and its never going to tear our locker room apart.Clark was at the center of the teams victory, finishing with 22 points and 10 assists in 35 minutes. Her backcourt mate, Kelsey Mitchell, continued her record-breaking run by scoring 28 points, giving her 17 straight games with at least 20 points.Behind them, the Fever are surging. Theyre now 11-4 in their last 15 games and are moving up the standings, now just a game back of the Aces in the No. 3 seed. For White, making the conversation about that and not anything else is her focus.Our league is the best in the world, the best athletes in the world, White said. They should be celebrated. We as women, in particular, continue to fight. We continue to try to represent the right things. I think were, as women and as a womens league, sometimes were an easy target. She revealed that, when she suffered her season-ending injury in the 2025 season, she bawled in Stephs arms.Clearly, those words only lasted so long before the ficklest of fans turned on White again, this time for an even more irrational reason. This time, Clark stepped up for her coach not only by helping lead the team to a win for her, but also making her feelings on her coach and her team crystal clear yet again.I just love her and I feel for her because I know it can be a lot of times, Clark said. She does a great job a lot of times blocking it out, but theres other moments where it can get under your skin and thats just being human and thats just life. There are tough days and there are tough moments, but just proud of our group.I think we showed like what were all about tonight. We came out, we had fun, we shared the ball and we played with joy and a smile on our face. To be honest, we really just did it for her and we did it for each other and the girls in our locker room.

The Washington Commanders were back on the practice field Tuesday in preparation for Wednesday's joint practice with the Miami Dolphins. After a day in pads on Monday, Washington sat several key veterans ahead of what's expected to be a physical scrimmage-like atmosphere on Wednesday. Tuesday began with head coach Dan Quinn saying cornerback Trey Amos and center Nick Allegretti would not participate in Wednesday's joint practice. Quinn said Amos would likely be reevaluated next week. The same timeline applies to Allegretti. As for what happened on the field, here are four players who stood out from Day 10 of Commanders training camp. It's hard to say whether Brown or Williams had the better day, but both were super impressive. Brown is seemingly growing more confident in David Blough's offense with each practice.EDGE Joshua JosephsThe rookie fifth-round pick just continues to show up. He was impressive again on Tuesday. Here's what Zach Selby of commanders.com wrote about Josephs on one specific play. The Commanders started the day with a fourth-and-goal competition from the 9-yard line featuring a mixture of players on the depth chart. Jayden Daniels connected with Chig Okonkwo on his first pass, but there's a chance he would have been sacked by Joshua Josephs on the play after he made a move to rip behind Brandon Coleman. Josephs has been one of the more exciting young pass rushers in Commanders practice because of his quickness and motor.Josephs is certainly a player to keep an eye on during this week's practice and the preseason opener. Similarly to a season ago, the Ms bullpen coughed up a loss on a night that couldve been put away earlier by a more competitive offense. Instead, they had Randy, end of list, for the umpteenth time this year. An opposite field homer was nice for a time, as left-handed man Ryan Weathers bamboozled Seattles bats by spraying his offerings around the area of the plate and allowing the limp-batted Ms to design and furnish their own mausoleums.
