The first four or five years of NIL, it was a one or two man shop in our building. To compete in this league is hard to do. When President Tate was hired, Keli Zinn got hired. Now, all of a sudden, the President, athletic director, and head football coach, we all saw winning at Rutgers the same way. We also saw the investment that must be made to do that. We dont have to be at the top, we learn to do more with less, but you cant be that much less. I think its in a good spot and its only going to get better.As long as we have vertical alignment, I think NIL and all those things will help Rutgers make a faster climb. I also thing when you have access and expand the college football playoff, that access will make for much more exciting games in November.On priorities in NIL:I love going heavy offensive line in high school kids. Its probably the position you hit on the least so throw your developmental money there, get guys in the program and develop them from there. By the time you have to pay them, you know if theyre good fits for your programs. I think the needs of your team are going to dictate that as well. You can have your philosophy but if a couple guys walk out the door, your philosophy is going to change quickly.

The Seattle Seahawks have waived running back Kenny McIntosh, a former Georgia Bulldog. McIntosh won Super Bowl 60 with the Seahawks last season, but it was bittersweet because McIntosh tore his ACL prior to the 2025 NFL season, so he watched Seattle's triumphant season from the sidelines. McIntosh was placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list on July 20. Seattle elected to waive McIntosh, which means he is likely not healthy yet. McIntosh was expected to make $1.1 million in 2026 and was entering a contract year. He will now hope to find a new niche in the NFL. McIntosh was a seventh-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft. He's appeared in 20 career NFL games including all 17 in 2024. McIntosh has 31 carries for 172 yards in his NFL career. He won national titles at Georgia in 2021 and 2022. McIntosh notably had 126 total yards and a touchdown in Georgia's comeback win over Ohio State in the College Football Playoff semifinals.Seattle is also placing running back Zach Charbonnet on the PUP list. Charbonnet tore his ACL during Seattle's playoff run and is seeking to return in Week 1. Yes, other leagues have an in-season deadline, and it can be a season defining moment for those leagues as well, but in Major League Baseball the ripple effect of a deadline deal could last for a decade or more. Teams at the deadline are basically debating between their ability to win a championship in the next two years vs. five years down the road. Those are the stakes for every trade involving an All-Star level talent. But this year has at least the possibility of a trade that would hit the league like a tornado. The Detroit Tigers are currently 50-57, six games back in the A.L. Central and four games out of the Wild Card. Far from insurmountable, but with the amount of teams in their way it would be a heavy lift. Its been a letdown season for the Tigers who had World Series aspirations. Now they are faced with an organization defining decision. Should they trade arguably the best pitcher in baseball? Tarik Skubal is a two-time Cy Young winner who is still four months away from turning 30-years old. He could, if healthy, be in his prime for at least another five seasons. Thats five seasons of an ace who can lead a team through the postseason. That kind of pitcher isnt often available, and any trade would require an absolute haul of prospects and young talent in return. It would take an all-in move by a team ready to win now and not worried about depleting their Minor League organization. On the other side of the coin, the Tigers arent a team that looks to be in desperate need of a rebuild just yet. There is plenty of talent on that team in a division that feels gettable in the near future. But with the uncertainty looming next season, maybe the time is right to cash in?
