SPORTS.YAHOO.COMAs contract year approaches, Baker Mayfield "feels great"With no new contract coming, Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield needs to be ready to get the most out of the bet he'd making on himself. And he feels like he's ready to do that physically.I think Im in the best shape Ive ever been in, Mayfield said on the 4th and South podcast, via JoeBucsFan.com. It took a while to feel healthy enough to actually train and get to that point. But I feel great. You know, you find your routine in the later years of your career and you figure out what works for you schedule-wise, workout-wise, diet-wise all things you need to adjust and adapt to as the years go on. I feel really good. Yeah, last year I was banged up but, I mean, the whole team was. He'll need to find a way to avoid being banged up. Part of his appeal is that he'll play through anything. At some point, however, it impacts his performance. That's where it could get interesting, if he has multiple injuries through which he's playing in 2026. At some point, Mayfield at less than 100 percent may not be a better option than Jake Browning at full strength. And the coaching staff (and/or the front office) may be inclined to ask him to take a seat, if they think it's in the best interests of the team.Given the contractual posture, that becomes a potentially dicey move. Mayfield is trying to earn his next contract. He may not take kindly to any talk of being removed temporarily. It all comes down to Mayfield avoiding unnecessary hits that he has a habit of at times embracing. It's one thing to be healthy when there's no contact. Starting in Week 1, it will be open season on all NFL quarterbacks. Mayfield's short-term interests, and his long-term prospects, may hinge on staying as healthy as he can, for as long as he can.0 Comments 0 Shares 306 Views 0 Reviews -

The guys have a ton of energy, theyre rolling. Nice to be out there.Rutschman, who wore jersey No. 31, was activated off the 10-day injured list before the game. Acquired from Baltimore at the trade deadline for three of Bostons top prospects, Rutschman hadnt played since July 18 because of left wrist inflammation.Batting third, the switch-hitter struck out swinging in the first inning, reached on an infield single in the third, then walked in the fifth and seventh. He grounded out to end the game, stranding a runner at second.I thought he looked good, looked comfortable, looked confident, interim manager Chad Tracy said. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMBayern Munich News: FC Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur tried to get Harry Kane, but extension looks likely; Manchester United chasing RB Leipzig star; and MORE!LONDON, ENGLAND - SEPTEMBER 26: Harry Kane of England is put under pressure by David Raum of Germany during the UEFA Nations League League A Group 3 match between England and Germany at Wembley Stadium on September 26, 2022 in London, England. (Photo by Eddie Keogh - The FA/The FA via Getty Images) | The FA via Getty ImagesBarca, Spurs both struck out on Kane (TEAMtalk)By all accounts, Bayern Munich is closing in on signing a contract extension with star striker Harry Kane. Before things got to this point, both FC Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur took a last run at trying to get the Englishman:Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur have both made recent enquiries about Harry Kane this summer, TEAMtalk can reveal, but Bayern Munich are now accelerating talks over a new contract for their star striker. We understand Bayern are pushing to get Kanes future resolved as we revealed earlier in the summer, with the club increasingly confident that the England captain is ready to commit his long-term future to the Bundesliga champions.Barcelona have remained in regular contact with Kanes camp throughout the summer as they prepared for the departure of veteran striker Robert Lewandowski. They have also continued to pursue Julian Alvarez, but we understand they have simultaneously done significant work on the possibility of bringing Kane to Spain.Kane has seriously considered what life could look like in Spain, with both Barcelona and long-term admirers Real Madrid having been options. However, we understand leaving Bayern would require something genuinely significant to convince him and, at present, that is not the case.Tottenham have also kept the door open to a sensational reunion. The pull of a return to the club will always exist for Kane and Spurs have made it clear that bringing their record goalscorer back remains something they would like to explore, particularly with Roberto De Zerbi now in charge. However, despite the interest from Barcelona and Tottenham and Manchester Uniteds willingness to consider a deal with co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe known to be an admirer Kane has not been chasing a move. The new of a potential extension between Bayern Munich and Kane has been widely lauded by fans (getting Bayern Munich fans to agree on something like this is quite the achievement). Hopefully, Kane can continue his terrific form and help lead Bayern Munich to treble during this campaign. Kompany-fucius? (FCBayern Focus)Some fans in Hong Kong had an interesting way to honor Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany: Bayern fans at the match against Aston Villa in Hong Kong were holding a banner showing Vincent Kompany as the Chinese philosopher Confucius. ( via @tzmuenchen) pic.twitter.com/iDD2En80d3 Bayern Focus (@FCBayernFocus) August 9, 2026Bayern satisfied with Eberl (Sport Bilds Christian Falk)It is sure looking more and more like Bayern Munich is going to extend the deal of board member for sport Max Eberl: Max Eberl got going early in the transfer window with the deals for Ismael Saibari and Nathaniel Brown. He always kept the supervisory board informed as to his work in the market, which is very important. But now, he has to show that he can sell players. Theres a bit of pressure on Eberl to do that, and hes giving it to the players who Bayern are looking to sell: Joo Palhinha, Sacha Boey and Bryan Zaragoza. Hes putting pressure on them to leave the club, and now he has to show the supervisory board that he can also be a hardliner as a boss.It is TRUE: Bayern are satisfied with Max Eberls work this summer. If you cast your mind back to the cup final in Berlin, Uli Hoene gave an interview on the subject of Eberls future which will be decided at the end of August when the supervisory board has their planned meeting where he admitted that the chances of Max Eberl staying were 60-40%. But now, at the Tegernsee where the training camp was held in pre-season, Hoene was asked again, and he said the chances are 100%. That means a lot, because the word of Uli Hoene on the supervisory board carries the most weight; everyone follows the opinion of Hoene. For a guy that did have some doubters (internally and externally at times), Eberl has performed and done a very good job. PSG, Ajax to resume talks over Godts soon (Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano)Paris Saint-Germain and Ajax will resume talks on a deal for Mika Godts after PSG and Aston Villa play for the UEFA Super Cup later today: Paris Saint-Germain plan to return in direct talks over Mika Godts deal after the Super Cup.Ajax expect new proposal to arrive soon as Godts already said yes to PSG project.United chasing Raum? (TEAMtalk)Manchester United could be plotting a move for RB Leipzig left-back David Raum: Manchester United have not given up on Lewis Hall but are accepting they need to explore alternative left-back targets during the final weeks of the transfer window, TEAMtalk can reveal.United identified a new left-back as one of their major priorities this summer after first strengthening the midfield, and Hall was established as their preferred option earlier in the window. One name already high on their list is RB Leipzigs David Raum, with TEAMtalk having revealed earlier this year that the Germany international is admired by United. The 28-year-old is considered an attractive option given his contract situation. Raum has less than 12 months remaining on his current deal and, although he has a release clause of around 34million, intermediaries believe a deal below 30million could potentially be negotiated if no new contract is put in place. We understand Raum has previously spoken with United. Crucially, we can confirm he would be happy with the prospect of moving to Old Trafford and competing with Luke Shaw for a place in the squad.Raum had a terrific 2025/26 season, but was banged up for the World Cup and barely played. A move to Manchester United might not be a great idea for a guy coming off an injury that limited him. Raum could be looking to cash out, though, and if he doesmore power to him (we guess). Torres getting close with PSG (Sky Germanys Florian Plettenberg)Ferrn Torres is getting closer to a move, but it is not done (at least not yet): Advanced negotiations between Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona over Ferran Torres. However, there is still no final agreement on the transfer fee, particularly on PSGs side. Ongoing contact between the clubs.Torres is ready to undergo his medical with PSG after reaching a 100% agreement on personal terms, as reported. Contract expected to run until 2031. @SkySportDEICYMI: Van de Ven re-ups with Spurs (Tottenham Hotspur)Micky van de Ven inked a new deal with Tottenham Hotspur (damn it): We are delighted to announce that Micky van de Ven has signed a new contract with the Club!Congratulations, Micky Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) August 10, 2026City getting closer with Bouaddi (The Guardian)Manchester City is getting closer to getting the much-anticipated deal for Ayyoub Bouaddi completed: Manchester City are closing in on signing Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille, with the midfielders expected arrival clearing the path for Rodri to join Barcelona. The 18-year-old has agreed personal terms with City, but the club are still finalising the deal with Lille who value Bouaddi at 100m (85m).Citys new manager, Enzo Maresca, wants to integrate the Morocco international into his first-team squad immediately. City meet Arsenal in the Community Shield on Sunday and start their Premier League campaign against Bournemouth on 23 August.ICYMI: LFC gets Arajo on loan (Liverpool FC)FC Barcelona sent Ronald Arajo to Liverpool on a loan assignment: First words as Ronald Araujo joins the Reds Liverpool FC (@LFC) August 10, 2026Phillips could be headed to Sheffield United on loan (The Sheffield Stars Danny Hall)Former Bayern Munich transfer target Kalvin Phillips could be headed back to Sheffield United: Exc: Understand United are closing in on a return to Bramall Lane for ex-England man Kalvin Phillips. Confidence that last seasons frustration a one-off and another good deal with City lined up. All in hereFenerbahe to get Lukaku? (Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano)Fenerbahe might be close to getting Romelu Lukaku: Fenerbahe are closing in on Romelu Lukaku deal after Napoli accept second official bid worth over 6m fee.Final steps to follow shortly ahead of green light for Lukaku to join Fenerbahe as new striker.Romano checked back in to give the story his here we go: Romelu Lukaku to Fenerbahe, here we go!
